Week 10 DraftKings Main Slate – Optimal Lineup Plays

We have officially reached double-digit weeks in the 2023 NFL season. It really goes by so fast! This week features another week without the Dolphins, Chiefs,  and Bills while adding the Eagles to the mix this week as well. So, in Week 10, we have four of the top offenses in the league off the main slate, again.

Quick Week 9 accountability check:

Hit: Dak Prescott, CJ Stroud, Derek Carr, Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, Jonathan Taylor, Kareem Hunt, CeeDee Lamb, Terry McLaurin, Tank Dell, Wan’Dale Robinson, Jake Ferguson, Taysom Hill, Dalton Schultz, Browns, Saints

Miss: Mac Jones, Bryce Young, Alvin Kamara, Zack Moss, Darrell Henderson, Chuba Hubbard, Davante Adams, Zay Flowers, Jonathan Mingo, Kyle Pitts, Giants, Falcons

N/A:

This group of players produced the top two QBs and WRs, two top-eight RBs, and three top-six TEs. Hopefully, you were able to take advantage and have a successful Week 9.

There are several stacks that I’m excited about this week and will look to target. One of my favorite targets this week is the Lions who play the Chargers. Looking at RB this week I don’t really see an opportunity to pay too far down. I do have a longer list of WRs that I like this week. I have some cheaper TE options available. This is a week I’m paying up for a defense as I believe the Cowboys have a chance to be a slatebreaker.

QB

Joe Burrow $6800 (vs. HOU) – This is hinged upon Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins being healthy enough to play in this game. If they are out, I will save my money and pay down. If Burrow has his full complement of weapons, this is a good matchup with a Texans defense that struggled against Baker Mayfield.

Jared Goff $6400 (@ LAC) – This is my favorite QB start this week. Jared Goff coming off his bye, is going back to his old stomping grounds at SoFi stadium. The Chargers are ranked 31st vs opposing QBs.

Geno Smith $5800 (vs. WAS) – Things were not pretty for the Seahawks last week in Baltimore. Back at home against a defense that ranks 30th vs. QBs is the perfect “get right” spot for Geno Smith.

Brock Purdy $5700 (@ JAX) – The 49ers are coming off their bye and three straight losses. I’m hopeful Brock Purdy is actually over his concussion by now. He clearly wasn’t against the Bengals. Kyle Shanahan said Deebo Samuel will be a full go which means the 49ers are coming out of the bye healthy and angry.

Contrarian/GPP: Kyler Murray $5900 (vs. ATL) – Kyler Murray is finally returning this week. The Cardinals could be getting James Conner back this week as well. I think Murray could be worth a dart-throw as a cheaper QB option with most in wait-and-see mode before inserting him in their lineups.

RB

If you can afford him: Christian McCaffrey $9200 (@ JAX) – 18.4% of your entire budget is a lot to spend on one player. However, if you were going to spend that much, it might as well be for the guy who has scored in 17 straight games.

Contrarian/GPP: Tony Pollard $7300 (vs. NYG) – The Giants were just chewed up on the ground by Josh Jacobs in Week 9. Tony Pollard hasn’t scored a rushing TD since Week 1 when he scored two of them against…. The Giants. His performances lately have not been great, which should keep his ownership percentage down, making him a good contrarian play.

Bijan Robinson $6000 (@ ARI) – Arthur Smith must be trolling us at this point, right? Like, we’re not going to jet-sweep Jonnu Smith from the one-yard line again this week, right? The matchup is great. I guess we’ll just have to see what Arthur Smith has planned this week.

Aaron Jones $6500 (@ PIT) – Aaron Jones might finally be back. He handled 24 touches in Week 9, and the Packers won a game. Must be a coincidence. Now, Jones gets the Steelers, who are ranked 25th vs. RBs. Feed Aaron Jones.

Joe Mixon $6200 (vs. HOU) – Joe Mixon is coming off his best two performances of the season. He is starting to get hot. The Bengals are banged up at WR this week, which could keep Mixon busy on the ground and in the passing game. The matchup just gave up the RB1 to Rachaad White in Week 9.

WR

Keenan Allen $8800 (vs. DET) – The Chargers are down Mike Williams and Josh Palmer. I expect a big workload from Keenan Allen in the game, with the highest implied total of the week.

Amon-Ra St. Brown $8300 (@ LAC) – Same as Keenan Allen, ARSB is the number one option in the passing game for his team. Coming off the bye, he has hopefully healed those dings he had earlier in the year. The Chargers ranked 27th vs. opposing WRs, also making it a good matchup for Amon-Ra.

Contrarian/GPP Play: DK Metcalf $6800 (vs. WAS) – The Commanders have struggled with alpha WRs all season long. They have given up monster performances to WRs out wide all season long. DK is coming off a one-catch performance. His ownership will be low due to his lack of production so far this season.

Brandon Aiyuk $7100 and Deebo Samuel $6200 (@ JAX) – Deebo Samuel is expected to be a full-go this week. The 49ers are coming off three straight losses and their bye week. The Jaguars rank 21st against opposing WRs this season. I’d like to use at least one San Francisco WR this week.

Christian Kirk $6000 (vs. SF) – The Jaguars are likely going to find themselves chasing points this week. Christian Kirk has provided a reliable target for Trevor Lawrence in the middle of the field. The 49ers secondary is not the strength of their defense.

DeAndre Hopkins $6000 (@ TB) – The Bucs were just eviscerated by CJ Stroud and the Texans. The Texans had two WRs put up top-five performances. Will Levis has already shown a propensity to target Hopkins.

Diontae Johnson $5400 and George Pickens $5100 (@ SEA) – I like both players this week. Diontae Johnson has been on fire since coming off IR. This is also a potential squeaky wheel game for George Pickens after expressing his displeasure with his involvement in Week 9.

Marquise Brown $5200 (vs. ATL) – Kyler Murray is back. In 2022 while Hopkins was suspended, Brown was putting up WR1 numbers with Kyler Murray. While there may be some rust, Hollywood will have enough opportunity to provide value.

**If Chase and/or Higgins are out, Tyler Boyd $4600 (vs. HOU) – This play is contingent upon the availability of Chase and Higgins. If they are out, he is in line for a huge workload.

Cheaper options: Jaxon Smith-Njigba $4100 (vs. PIT), Quentin Johnston $4100 (vs. DET), Curtis Samuel $3900 (@ SEA), Nick Westbrook-Ikhine $3400 (@ TB)

TE

Sam LaPorta $5700 (@ LAC) – The Chargers have struggled to cover TEs this year and ranked 29th vs. the position. I love a Goff/St. Brown/LaPorta stack this week.

Dalton Schultz $4900 (@ CIN) – His ownership will be high after last week. However, he gets the Bengals, who just gave up 10 catches to Dalton Kincaid last week.

Trey McBride $3500 (vs. ATL) – Kyler Murray is back this week. McBride will likely be his second option in the passing game after Hollywood.

Jonnu Smith $3600 (@ ARI) – The one week I don’t recommend Jonnu Smith, he goes off for 100 yards and a TD. He also got a goal-line carry. The Cardinals have been respectable vs. TEs but have given up a touchdown to opposing TEs each of the last two weeks.

Chig Okonkwo $3000 (@ TB) – When filling your lineup with higher-priced options, you’ll need to pay down somewhere. The Bucs just gave up 10/130/1 to Dalton Schultz last week. Okonkwo has also been averaging five targets per game with Levis so far.

Irv Smith Jr. $2700 (vs. HOU) – The Bengals have three different TEs they use, so there is a chance Irv Smith isn’t the correct one. However, he is the most talented of the bunch. The Bengals TEs went for 10/101/2 against the Bills last week. It is the most involved the position has been all season. The Texans just gave up 6/70/2 to Cade Otton. Drew Sample and Tanner Hudson are each $2500 if you want to save a little more.

D/ST

Cowboys $4400 (vs. NYG) – This is the highest-priced defense of the week. The Cowboys get the Tommy DeVito-led Giants at home. This game is going to get really ugly really fast. In Week 1, the Cowboys D/ST scored 37 against the Giants, and that was with Daniel Jones. The Cowboys D/ST has a chance to be one of the highest-scoring players of the week of any position. Find a way to fit them into your lineup

Steelers $3800 (vs. GB) – The Steelers get the Packers are home this week. Jordan Love has not been playing good football and has been prone to making mistakes.

49ers $3600 (@ JAX) – I don’t love West Coast teams traveling to the East Coast for 1 PM EST games usually, but the 49ers are rested and angry. Oh yeah, they also acquired Chase Young at the trade deadline. The Jaguars are now going to have to worry about Nick Bosa and Chase Young coming after Trevor Lawrence.

Value Play: Cardinals $2500 (vs. ATL) – The Cardinals get back Conner and Murray, which will take pressure off their defense. They also get Tyler Heinicke. If you’ve filled your lineup with big-ticket players, use the Cardinals.
