Air Yards are the Gordon Ramsey of fantasy receiving stats. They tell us exactly what was right and clearly what was wrong with how a receiver performed in a given week. Often, it’s not easy to hear. But you as a fantasy manager need to pay attention to the under-the-hood numbers from your receivers instead of just blindly trusting the box score results, you donkey.
Each week, this column will dissect air yards for actionable info in the weeks to come. For Week 11, we will do a quick analysis of the list of the 72 wide receivers who finished last week with at least 30 air yards.

Each week I’ll be spending countless hours flipping coins in order to determine an order for my weekly rankings which will be published bright and early each Wednesday morning. It’s an elaborate round-robin coinflipping system for each position. Wide receivers alone take me a full Monday worth of coin flips. And I’m currently in the process of filing for workers comp due to carpal tunnel. But it’s well worth it, knowing that you, the loyal Razzball reader, appreciate my pain and sweat. Just so you know you can trust me, here’s how my coin flipping system stacked up against all of the other 149 industry analysts competing against me in the 2020 Fantasy Pros Weekly Ranking Competition:

Taking inventory of target share (TS) and snap share (SS) data is a critical tool to help with start-sit decisions, and provide a framework for buy-low/sell-high trade candidates. Every Wednesday the Target Report will highlight key TS/SS data and takeaways from the weekend. Keep in mind this is one data point to reference when making weekly lineup decisions. Utilizing all of Razzball’s tools will help complete the decisions making process each week.
Success in fantasy football is built around opportunity, especially consistent opportunity. Don’t get caught up only chasing fantasy points. Peyton Manning focused more on what happened between endzones versus what transpired on the scoreboard. It is important not to overreact to a poor fantasy outing when the usage is still there. Or overreact to a fantasy explosion for a player that barely found the field or was barely targeted in the game. Trust the data and trust the process…

! Warning ! Your 2021 fantasy football season is on FINAL NOTICE. Otherwise meaning: your team is swirling down the crapper, spiraling more quickly thank my bank account after a fun-filled day spent at Chuck-E-Cheese, and you’re desperately in need of that one (maybe two?) player to save you from permanent destruction. Now, there’s this scene in New Girl where Nick shows Jess his box of overdue bills, which he hides in the closet — a place where he puts things he doesn’t want to have to deal with. Heading into Week 11, do not let your fantasy roster become a hidden box of overdue bills. Get the box out. Read the writing on the wall (in the letter). Take a stand and do something about it. Target the right players. Don’t waste a waiver claim on the guy who will save you for one week, rather, go big on the one name that could turn your entire season around. In this segment, I’ll detail seven players who hold the potential to flip the switch your 2021 fantasy football season. Many of these names have been discussed in this week’s waiver column, but as I’ll discuss later, not every waiver add has rest-of-season relevance. These players aren’t so much league winners, as they are league savers.

Tuesdays at Razzball Fantasy Football are going to be “lit,” as the kids say. Although I’m not sure if the kids put it in quotation marks, I’ll have to check in with VH1 on that. Regardless, we have the one and only The Joey Wright leading off every Tuesday morning with his in-depth waiver wire advice column. Then Blair (or JB!) spins his MNF narrative with an eloquent Monday Night Football recap and Paul Blake shares some deep league thoughts. Finally, I’ll bring it up the rear with my rest of season rankings broken down by position. Reminder, these rest of season rankings are only a very rough guideline to be used for trade formulation and other roster decisions. These are geared toward half PPR formats and should be adjusted accordingly for your particular league settings. Metcalf* While the touchdowns have been steady this year, with only one 100+ yard receiving performance on the season, Metcalf’s current owner may not be giving the Seahawks’ #1 the respect he deserves. This is especially true after the complete dud week 10 (3 catches for 26 yards) in Russell Wilson’s return to action. The athletic freak, Metcalf, has a higher upside than any other receiver in the game. Give him a chance to bring you in from the cold and save your season! Week 10 of the NFL was another wild one. The Lions did not lose; the Cardinals, Rams, Raiders, Browns, and Falcons certainly did. Another top running back was injured. And parity reigns supreme, as at least 20 teams probably still feel like they have a chance at the playoffs. These kind of intros are SEO nightmares. On the one hand, Google thinks “Van Jefferson NFT” is super cool but on the other hand…Steamers. We better get into the MNF coverage before this post gets NSFW, but really, nothing could be more on-screen violence than what the 49ers did to the Rams last night.

I’ve been married for seven years now, but we’ve been together much longer. Through our relationship, I’ll often turn to her, look deep into her eyes and say, “You know those dogs from Homeward Bound are dead now right?” I get the death stare every time, but readers of Wright on Waivers I have a secret to tell you. I sort of love Homeward Bound. I believe this is the second time I have referenced it in my short time here at Razzball. The scene I like most (spoilers) is when Shadow comes over the hill and sees Peter after their long time apart. It gets me all misty. I mean who does not love a story of someone finally making their way back home. Our lead name in this week’s waiver article is a lot like Shadow. He still has a few journeys and walks ahead of him. It is just nice to see him taking his final trips in a familiar place. Welcome home Cam.
