The running backs that are drafted in the first four rounds are not always the running backs that are going to win you your league. Hell, if you’re going to win you’re league, it’s a good idea to draft a few options that could own in your flex spot. We’re looking purely at upside today. You can’t call these players handcuffs because they are already a part of the offense. When you’re already a part of the offense, you just have to start outperforming your counterpart to get more work. Well, most of the time. Let’s not pretend that all of these NFL teams are smart. A lot of teams employ a RBBC because of different skill sets or more run heavy offenses. A lot of these teams go with the hot hand approach and Philip Lindsay basically was a hot hand for the whole season. Another example would be Derrick Henry at the end of last season. We are looking for the next Philip Lindsay or the most useful complementary back to gamble on. I want to make it clear that these are gambles. But they are gambles that I am willing to push my own chips in for.
Please, blog, may I have some more? The Hall of Fame Game is over, and football is officially underway. As is the case every year, preseason games bring unlikely studs to the forefront of fantasy attention while sending others hurtling down the draft boards. It’s important not to jump to conclusions. As much as you may want Kurt Benkert after his magnificent performance, resist the temptation. I promise.
Please, blog, may I have some more?A friend and I were recently texting during a mock draft and he kept finding pockets of players with similar ADP and seemingly similar upside. We would go back and forth making points and counterpoints, but in the end it was just a gut call. I realized that may not be the optimal way to make that choice on the fly and ventured to create a “checklist” of sorts to compare similar players alongside each other.
Please, blog, may I have some more?In a time long, long ago (2 months) BEFORE writing at Razzball I thought I knew more than all of the fantasy experts. This wasn’t out of disrespect. It’s just who I am, and I would argue that is who most of us who play fantasy sports are. We think we know everything. We have the game figured out. We have a natural competitive spirit. Well once again it is time for all our readers to congregate to Razzball Commenter Leagues (RCLs) and prove that you know more than at least me, maybe the rest of the staff, and 200+ other competitors.
Please, blog, may I have some more? With Training Camp in full-swing, it’s a perfect opportunity to take a look at some key players that are entering their final year of a contract, looking to prove themselves to their team or multiple teams if they’re likely to hit free agency. In recent news, many elite football players have been holding out of training camp in order to get new deals, like Ezekiel Elliott, Melvin Gordon, and up until a recent contract extension, Michael Thomas.
Please, blog, may I have some more?As of early August 2019, David Johnson appears to be the consensus 5th pick after Barkley/CMC/Elliott/Kamara. Below is a screenshot from our RazzBowl partner’s NFFC ADP.
My projections have David Johnson as RB8 for PPR (behind the top 4 in ADP as well as Le’Veon Bell, Joe Mixon, and James Conner) so I’m quite divergent from the consensus on this one. I had pick #5 in my RazzBowl draft and went with Davante Adams (ADP #7) when no one was kind enough to let one of the top four fall to me.
Please, blog, may I have some more?We made it to the end of our divisional fantasy previews. Just in time, as the heart of fantasy re-draft season starts and preseason games begin. Keep in mind, our valuation of players and teams change constantly as new information is received. Rudy is on top of his weekly projections, constantly updating them when things change. A couple of weeks ago we were drafting Hill in the 6-8th round, and now you can’t get him cheaper than a 2nd round pick.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Ain’t no laws when you’re drinkin’ claws and reading Razzballs at your meemaws and pawpaws. Especially when you’re being annoyed by your in-laws slurping their empty drinks through straws. It also seems like laws are going out the window with all of these different fantasy football formats and scoring rules. Being the fantasy football addict that I am, I’ve played in a few of these leagues and I think that I can help you out if you’re a first-timer to a new format.
Please, blog, may I have some more? The rankings journey is finally coming to an end and we are all thankful. Well at least I am. I’m excited for my next series that will be a section by section draft guide like I did last year. Today I’m going to focus on the bottom feeder starters, running backs on the brink of being starters, a few handcuffs.
Please, blog, may I have some more?On this week’s football show, Donkey Teeth and B_Don discuss their RazzBowl drafts off the top before diving into their rookie tight end profiles. The guys agree on the two exciting young Iowa tight ends as their top two in this class, but the agreements are short lived.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Picture yourself in a bizarro-world casino where the gin and tonics aren’t watered down and the roulette table has more black spaces than red. After counting a few times you’re certain there are more black spaces on the wheel. You notice other gamblers are getting normal payouts for bets on black, one-to-one. The odds of winning are greater but the risk is the same as betting red. So I ask you, hypothetical gambler: why would you ever bet on red?
