The world was not ready for yet another ACL casualty. I DREW THE LINE AT SHAUN SUISHAM. AND THAT LINE I DREW, THE ONE AT SHAUN SUISHAM? IT WAS CROSSED PEOPLE. Quite frankly my dear friends, that line has now been crossed ten-fold. More like a billion-fold actually. In today’s podcast, Tehol and yours truly go over some of the precarious situations that the Packers and Panthers now find themselves in with both their star receivers (Jordy Nelson and Kelvin Benjamin) done for the year. What happens to Davante Adams and David Funchess you might ask? Well, don’t worry, because we answer long and we answer hard. Whatever that means. We also go over other news around the league and talk a bit of Draft Strategy to get you ready for your upcoming drafts, which I’m sure are all in the Razzball Commenter Leagues. Right? RIGHT? Right. I mean, it’s a free league and you could win some pretty cool prizes… just saying.

    Hi Jay!

Need help with Keepers . I have to keep 3 ! I think its clear cut but still need your advice. All touchdowns are 6 points . I point PPR league . I am very good at RBs losing my league every year because of bad WR play, having Stafford and not having AP :|

My keeper choices are – AP, Jamaal Charles, Gronk, Forsett! Should I just trust AP will be back to the levels he was or be safe and take Forsett instead?Jamaal Charles and Gronk are my definite keepers !

Thank you so much! Just started my football research. Now to read all the posts for the last few weeks :D You back again tomorrow for the baseball podcast?

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Blint: Yo! If going by the rankings, I think you have to go AP, Charles, and Gronk. Love Forsett, but the PPR aspect sways me. And I am, Baseball Pod goes up later today!

    Great Work Jay, thanks man!

I’m new at Fantasy Football and I’m in a 10 team PPR league, my draft position is 8 (snake draft)
Is there any advice/strategy that you could share?
Thanks again and looking forward to reading your FF articles…
    cheers!

@RicoSuave: Sure thing. In 10-teams, go for the best RB and WRs you can, there should be plenty of TE/QB towards the middle of the draft. If you mess up, don’t worry, 10-team leagues have a lot of room for error because the waiver wire is robust. Also, be sure to check out our beginners guide and draft kit to help out!

@RicoSuave: Wide receivers will almost certainly be the best bets to fill any flex spots in PPR. Target them heavily in the middle-ish rounds. Not that you can’t take them early too.

12 team standard keeper forever league. Out of six keepers I have picked Rivers R Cobb Forte Lacy. Please help me pick 2 more from Cutler Manziel Benjamin Dwayne Allen Latavius Murray C Patterson J McKinnon Moncrief. Also (with 5th pick in my draft) I’ll probably be staring at White and Agholor…who would you pick. As well I’ll mention that I’m not necessarily focused on winning ‘this’ year. Great posts and thanks for all your help!

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Impending doom: I’d probably go Bengee and Allen there. I’d go Aggy there. Anytime!

    10 PPR keep forever league

I can keep as many as 7 and as few as 5:

    Aaron Rodgers
    Mike Evans
    Jordan Matthews
    Keenan Allen
    Martavis Bryant
    DeMarco Murray
    Tre Mason
    Latavius Murray
    John Brown

    1. Jordy Nelson…do I keep to slot on the DL or drop to open up a spot?!
    2. Who all would you keep based on my team above? Should I keep 5 to get an earlier pick or keep 7 having a solid roster? Thougths?

    Thanks man! Podcast was great…

    best,
    Ryan

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@ryanoger: I think you should keep seven here. Your options are pretty good. I’d go Rodgers, Evans, Matthews, Allen, Bryant, and both Murray’s. If you want to balance for the future, I think Nelson over Allen or Bryant is totally fine.

      • ryanoger says:
        (link)

        @Jay:

Who would you lean on loosin’ if I kept Nelson? Allen or Bryant…?

  6. OldMilwaukeePounders says:
    (link)

    Jay,

Whats good? I have two possible trades in the works for a 12 team keeper forever league…

I would be moving Alshon in both scenarios:

Jeffrey for Evans + 7th round pick
Jeffrey for Forsett +8th round pick

My other current keepers look like they will be Megatron and Wilson. May not keep the QB because there are just so many other good late options.

    Thanks!

      • OldMilwaukeePounders says:
        (link)

@Jay: Thanks, man. I’ve got a lot of players that are in the range of “almost keepers”. These are the same guys that I will probably miss out on too, so it is making my choice tougher and tougher. (Cooks, Hyde, Randle, Ellington types).

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@OldMilwaukeePounders: I hear ya. I would say Cooks is a no brainer there. I like Hyde too.

          • OldMilwaukeePounders says:
            (link)

@Jay: I like Hyde as well, I just don’t know how much of a dumpster fire SF will be…Would consider keeping Megatron, Jeffrey, Cooks over Wilson, Megatron, Jeffrey? This is a PPR league, so I suppose that could be a real solid play in the long run.

              • OldMilwaukeePounders says:
                (link)

@Jay: Looking at some of the other rosters, I assume that only Luck and Rodgers are going to be kept..my first pick would shake out at #46, I figure I would get a crack at a quality QB in round 4-6…

Obviously, I won’t get Wilson back, but last year I snagged him in round 8 or later. The odds of finding a value play at QB late has to the highest of all positions, right?

                • Jay

                  Jay says:
                  (link)

@OldMilwaukeePounders: Yeah, Wilson is great value there. Hate to lose Cooks… and it’s a close call. Any chance of getting Cooks back?

  7. Allan says:
    (link)

Drafted last night ended up with T.J. Yeldon and Amari Cooper on my team. If I named my team the Dr. Yeldon Coopers do you think anyone would get it?

      @Allan:

      Yeldon Cooper PhD

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Allan: i think it only matters if you get it. I love it by the way. I also like Yeldon with Mr. Cooper.

  8. Jerry says:

Hey, Jay! If you had the choice of Andre Johnson, Keenan Allen, Edleman, and Davante Adams, who would you pick? Thanks!

    • Jay

@Jerry: Probably Johnson, with Allen really close.

  9. JohnnyBeGood says:

    Hey Jay!

Picking 3rd in 12 team PPR….with the Center Pouncey injury news, who would you take at #3 overall, Bell or Brown or another RB? thank you sir

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@JohnnyBeGood: Im PPR, still giving the edge to Bell, but if he’s gone, go Brown.

  10. Robert says:
    (link)

You J- my 12 h2h team: Luck, Forte, Miller, Johnson, Allen, Adams, Julius Thomas. Good enough to make playoffs? Really wanted a wr1 but couldn’t get one with #10 pick.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Robert: Yes, I like your team. It should be okay this season, RB depth is really bad.

      • Robert says:
        (link)

@Jay: Sorry just listed starters. Spiller and Duke Johnson are rb backups.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Robert: I mean RB depth in general. I like what you built.

  11. OldMilwaukeePounders says:
    (link)

    Jay,

Didn’t want to keep hammering the above thread, but my trade talk has evolved to this point:

The owner simply doesn’t want Alshon. He offered to trade Forsett for my 6th round pick (70th).

Pulling the trigger would necessitate me not keeping Alshon or Cooks. What would you think of taking the deal and rolling with Megatron, Cooks, Forsett and picking my first player at #46? I would assuredly miss on Alshon or Forsett at 46 either way.

    Thanks again!

      • OldMilwaukeePounders says:
        (link)

@Jay: Yeah, from the sounds of it, my league mates are very down on Alshon and QB position as a whole. I shopped them to just about everyone with little response. Who knows, maybe 46 will bring a crack at Wilson even.

        Thanks, bro.

  13. Mike Hunt's Honorable Discharge says:
    (link)

same league as mentioned yesterday. i just realized i don’t have a 2nd rounder (thought i had 23rd overall), i traded it as part of sanchize deal, when i thought both that 23rd wouldn’t be that valuable, and having Foles/Sanchize would lock up PHI QB’s (it did at the time). We have to decide keepers BEFORE trading for picks or players. I’m now offering any 2 of A.Williams/Stills/Michael/Bradshaw (those last 2 i have to drop anyway, 3 of these have to be dropped even to draft at 9th overall) and my 37th overall for a 2nd rounder. If i can’t get that done i assume i’ll get a RB (likely Yeldon) at 9th overall. With that assumption, am i better off with
    A.Williams as RB 6
    or
    Stills as WR 6?
Rankings for this year only say keep Stills. There’s a big difference between pick 23 and 37 as far as what i will likely get (i’m sure Hill/Latimer/Green-Beckham/Ajayi etc are gone). Clearly i’m working my ass off trying to move 1 or 2 of those 4 players to one of the bad teams that only really have 15 legitimate keepers at most, esp Jennings owner along with my pick 37.

  14. Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey says:
    (link)

PPR rankings still show rodgers as QB 1, and i know you said he’d be moved down. date at top of those ranks does say aug 23rd so i’m guessing this is a glitch?

      • Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey says:
        (link)

@Jay: as far as recent updates it does appear montgomery has been moved to proper place in PPR top 200 compared to his standing in regular top 200, he’s a few behind latimer in both.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey: Yeah, still waiting on an email back from them. Honestly, I hate how the industry has become a slave to their accuracy rankings…

          • Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey says:
            (link)

@Jay: what about c.johnson (ARI)? he’s not listed in RB standard rankings, but i gotta think he’d be top 113 somewhere.

            • Jay

@Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey: Probably will add him this upcoming Sunday. Already out two weeks though… he certainly didn’t lose any speed in terms of quick injuries.

@Chris: I like Hyde, but Mathews seems really good here.

  18. goodfold2 says:
    (link)

for 20 team dynasty where we play
QB/RB/2 WR/TE, Flex, K, real life defensive players exactly and 12 bench spots. i have picks at 4th, 24th, 53rd and 64th overall. this is roster. i’m trying to figure out how many keepers here.
QB RG3, Cousins (also could keep mccoy to be safe)
    RB AP, Morris, Sims, Helu
WR Garcon, D-Jax, Roberts (return yardage worth same as scrimmage here)
    TE Donnell/Reed/ASJ
    K Novak
for D i’m set up pretty good at DE and DT spots (2 each), top 4 LB are ranked 1, 22, 35, and 50th, with only 37, 43, 44, and 48 draftable likely. Maybe more since i can’t “prove” who is kept till after i keep mine. We start 3 of those. S’s i have 22, 27, and 29 ranked. we start 2 of these. for CB (start 2) i have guys ranked 41 and unranked for DB’s, but the unranked guy is a 2nd year guy who will get thrown at and counts towards my minimum 10 team players.
All of this being the case I’m assuming i should keep around 26 guys. should that last guy be
    1. LB 50th (have 4 higher ranked to choose from in draft mimimum) as my LB #4.
    2. 1 of Taliaferro or Michael (ranked behind Sims and Helu, but maybe long term one is worth more?). We only have to start 1 though and this is for RB #5
    3. S ranked 29 for my S#3 when guys ranked 11, 18, 36, 39, 40, and 50 draftable. probably a no on this one
    4. M.Lee as WR #4, he’s ranked pretty low though.
    5. McCoy as QB #3, to make SURE i have a starting QB.

    Agree with these other assumptions
trade one of ASJ or Donnell (maybe before draft).
certainly grab a WR at pick 4 (hopefully Cooper), as my WR are not deep.

We have .5 PPR, but also .25 for rushing attempts, .125 for passing attempts, .25 for completions, -.125 for missed passes.

    • goodfold2 says:
