Everyone got to have so much fun with Back to the Future yesterday, but since it was my day off on the site, I couldn’t add to the discussion. And now that I’m here, I really have nothing to say that hasn’t been said by everyone else. I loved the movies. I guess that’s my official comment. So, I had something to add, but it was a really short comment (she’s never said that, I swear), and… it really has nothing to do with Fantasy Football. Regardless, the rankings were rough for everyone last week, with the top-20 “experts”, including yours truly, getting discombobulated. I’d say it was a one week outlier, so let’s see how this batch turns out.

Also, as we went over the Future of Razzball last week, tying into the theme of today’s post, we’ve completely revamped our Fantasy Football Team Name Generator, and released it to the masses. That’s you. You’re the mass. And a quite good looking mass if I don’t say so myself. Not only do we have a new Razzball Contest going on this week (join here!), but I’d like to create another fun event for you, the readers.

I’ll be awarding a random commenter their choice of a Razzball T-Shirt simply by testing the new generator (which can be found here) and submitting your favorite team names in the comment section of any post here on Razzball Football up to next Tuesday. I’ll announce the winner during our Week 8 Rankings post. So let’s see those crazy names!

And now, your Week 7 Rankings…

Who do you like better ROS 12 team PPR if I’m looking for most potential to eventually be relied upon rather than immediate help:

Davante Adams, Cecil Shorts, DeVante Parker, , Terrance Williams, Amendola, Andre Johnson or Kenny Stills.

    Thanks, man, I appreciate it.

@YSF: Probably Adams, and then Williams.

@Nick: Yeah, his new request doesn’t sound as unique. Sticking with Hamster here too. I think you have to sit Kelce, tough as it is.

  4. Packers says:
    (link)

    Hi Jay,

I can start 3 of the following 5, 1 point PPR.
Forsett, Gargon, Tate, Wright or Diggs. Who would you start?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Packers: I think Wright and Diggs.

  5. Radioactive says:

In 12 team dynasty (up to 4 keeper )half point ppr.

I have Lacy, gore and Matt jones at rb
I have Cobb, a brown, j brown , Allen Robinson and Kendall wright

We start 2rb and 2wr wiTh no flex.

I was offered j brown (trade away) for l Blount (receive) . Would you make that deal? He wanted Robinson and I countered with j brown

Also , is it worth holding on to Matt jones ? Some guys were dropped last night including Sammy Watkins, Crowell and Andre Johnson. Ditch Jones or Wright for any of them?

    Thanks for the advice,

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Radioactive: Yeah, Brown for Blount is a good deal. I’d want Jones over those three at the moment.

  6. Radioactive says:
    (link)

Also, this would mean that I would have to start Matt Jones (this week) if I don’t make the trade

  7. Moscowitz says:
    (link)

Tevin Coleman or David Johnson ROS?
Both are backups but i think Tevin has a clearer path to be the featured back if Freeman gets injured right?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Moscowitz: Yeah, I also think Tevin has a bit more ability.

  8. STL says:
    (link)

Would you bump Jordan Reed up your PPR rankings if he is indeed “100%” or do you think he’ll end up splitting a lot of time with Carrier to ease himself in?

My predicament is that I’m thinking about dropping Jordan Cameron for Reed, but I feel like I should wait on that because of the Miami coaching change.

Would you drop Diggs or Davante Adams for Reed?

    QB: Cam Newton
RB: Charcandrick West, Jon Stewart, Arian Foster, Latavius Murray, Danny Woodhead
WR: Dez Bryant, Alshon Jeffery, Antonio Brown, Allen Robinson, Diggs, Davante Adams
    TE: Jordan Cameron

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@STL: I would hold, for at least this week. I actually want to see Reed and how he’s doing. Also, Washington’s offense has looked pretty terrible the past few weeks.

      • STL says:
        (link)

@Jay: Thanks for the advice – always appreciated.

    Hi Jay,
For the Wr5 on 3wr no flex PPR would you drop KWright for risk reward of LaFell?
    My other Wrs are Jeffery/Edelman/Arob/Tate.
    Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@The imp: eh, yeah, I think you have enough depth there to do it.

  10. Darth says:
    (link)

I see you ranked both Carrier and Reed this week, Carrier actually ahead right now. If Reed survives the practice week you’d have to move him up a bit right? I’d roll the dice anywhere after Clay in your current rankings, curious where you’d slot him.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Darth: yeah, most definitely. If the reports are good, he might get as high as Watson.

  11. RePete says:
    (link)

I’m torn at QB this week. I have to start either Ryan @ TEN or Eli vs DAL. I see your rankings favor Ryan but I don’t know how much I trust him on the road with Freeman demanding more work. I’m really just interested in the safer play. Who has the higher floor between the two? Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@RePete: floor is slightly Eli, but I’d rather have Ryan against the Titans even if he’s on the road.

      • Re-Pete says:
        (link)

        @Jay: Hey, I’M Re-Pete. USURPER!

          • Re-Pete says:
            (link)

@Jay: I think that’d be 3Pete. Unless we stick with the Back to the Future theme and go with PrePete. Or “80s feel-good movies about whales” theme with FreePete. I also like cheese, so maybe I could be Brie-Pete?

            Someone please stop me.

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@Re-Pete: Why not just be Allison Brie? That’d be something.

                @Jay: lol im dieing

  12. Allan says:
    (link)

    Jay,
In my 12 team standard league I’ve got Eli, Rothlisberger, Foster, Ingram, Lacy, Julio, Fitzgerald, Cooks, Cameron, Pats D, and Matt Bryant and somehow I’m sitting at 2-4. I keep ending up facing people who have irrelevant players go off like the week a guy started Josh McCown and Doug Martin against me and got like 80 points between them. I guess my question is do I still have a shot at the playoffs? On paper my roster looks stacked but I can’t seem to get a good performance from all of them at the same time.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Allan: Of course! If you do 4-2 the next six, you’re in the discussion. You have a solid team, so keep hope alive!

  13. Nick says:

    Hey Jay, I have problems with Tyrod Taylors status in more doubt for week 7…& Peyton on bye…in a 10-team do I wait last minute & drop Taylor for a QB if he is out? Or do I hold Taylor (& Peyton for that matter) and grab a 3rd QB for this week? Available QBs are Fitzy, Stafford, McCown, Carr, Flacco, Bridgewater…my team looks like this;

    QB-Peyton
    RB-AP/DeMarco
    WR-Ty/Amari/Garcon
    Flex-J Randle
    TE-Gates
    Bench-Tate, Bennett, Taylor, Hankerson, Duke J & D Adams

    Thanks in advance!

    • Nick says:
      (link)

@Nick: He is officially out, just read it. This stinks…I hate to drop Taylor (since I need him as peyton has been terrible) but I also do not want to carry 3 QBs…is Peyton a potential drop at this point!?!? Help me bud!

      • Nick says:
        (link)

@Nick: & I just realized Taylor has a bye the following week. So now I think I drop Taylor for Stafford…agree?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Nick: I’m not against it, but I’ve also never been a huge Stafford guy. I’d say he’s the best out of that group.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Nick: Hey Nick, yeah, I think with that group, you can wait a bit.

      • Nick says:
        (link)

@Jay: Well, Taylor is officially listed as OUT. So make the move & drop Taylor for Stafford now, right? No point in waiting since its official & wouldn’t want my opponent to grab em (he went for Hoyer as his bye week filler this week, not sure what he sees in him, when Fitzy/Stafford/McCown available…)

        • Nick says:
          (link)

@Nick: or would you prefer to try & hold Taylor in 10-team where I probably wont use Peyton going forward? I’d have to drop Hankerson or Duke J…

          • Jay

            Jay says:
            (link)

@Nick: I’m not opposed to droppin Hanky there for Tyrod, no.

            • Nick says:
              (link)

@Jay: so wait, you prefer holding Taylor (& Peyton) dropping Hankerson (a bench warmer) for Stafford fill in this week? Or just let go of Taylor in 10-team (even though I really need him with Peyton’s playing)

              • Jay

                Jay says:
                (link)

@Nick: Yeah, but the bid money is a concern. I always forget your league is FAAB, so one time drops seem counter-intuitive. I’d prefer to hold Taylor, but since it’s still only 10-team, I think dropping him is decision here since Hankerson is a bit more useful.

                • Nick says:
                  (link)

@Jay: I think I need to hold Taylor. Maybe drop Hankerson, especially since he is out with injury this week anyways, I can probably reclaim him after this week.. what you think??

                  • Nick says:
                    (link)

@Nick: & I dont know between Fitzpatrick & Stafford…still debating that..what you think between the 2? Fitzy will have to throw against NE….I’m a Jet fan so I hate to live & die by my team but I’m thinking about it…

                    • Nick says:
                      (link)

@Nick: & on the other hand, Stafford put up 20 fantasy points against Minnesota previously… & had quite a game last week…Fitzy had good #s last week as well too…

                    • Jay

                      Jay says:
                      (link)

@Nick: I was thinking about Fitz too… and the NE defense isn’t as strong as it seems… but I do like Stafford’s match-up a bit more.

                  • Jay

                    Jay says:
                    (link)

@Nick: Yeah, that was my original idea. Not sure on what you’d have to bid there though. If it’s the min, I’m fine with it.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Nick: Yeah, no point in waiting now. I’ll be updating my rankings soon.

I have both martavis and Antonio brown in a keeper… Martavis is $5 and Antonio is $60…

Would you look to trade Antonio for rb depth, or a qb/te upgrade?

    Here’s my team:
    Matt Ryan
    Devanta
    Lamar
    Forsett,
Alshon, Marshall, Dez and martavis Bryant, Antonio brown, sammy watkins
    Martellus
    Cmike,knile davis,tevin Coleman

I was thinking Antonio for AP or Antonio and Matt Ryan for Andrew luck/jimmy graham or Antonio/Matty ice for luck/lacy??

I’ve got to deal one of my wr’s but for what and for who?

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@sitdezplease: The AP trade works, but I don’t like the other ones at all.

    • Jay

@sitdezplease: that’s fine, but I like the dez for gronk one.

    keeper league:

$10 sammy watkins for jimmmy graham or gary barnidge (i have no use for sammy, sits on my bench)

    or

sammy watkins and martellus bennet for joe randle delanie walker (i own c-mike so grabbing randle would hopefully ensure i have the rb in dallas?)

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@hellohello: I’d probably lean the Graham trade there.

  18. Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
    (link)

in full PPR with .1 pt per return yard drop either of ellington/spiller for any of c.j.anderson/andrews/bradshaw/j.allen/j.bell/thompson/rawls/sproles
or any of these guys who since they do returns have these minimum scores in this league
    cunningham (7.3)
    stacy (10.3, since doing returns)
    helu (7.5)
mccluster (3 out of last 4 games with minimum of 11.4)
rainey (5 weeks ranging from 7.5 to 12.4)
sankey (10.6 or better two weeks he’s done returns)

I also have decent PPR guys like duke johnson/vereen/forte and start 2 RB and 1 flex that can be. Spiller went into year with supposed usage in his offense and returns, he’s gotten little of the one (one decent play making his only good week), and ellington has been taken out of his own offense by inferior RB CJ?K, and is probably at best 2nd best RB do d.johnson on own team. it’s surprising that this many of these guys are available (even Cobb was just added) with floors of 7 pts per week with their return duties. most also have ceilings of around 17-20 as well, but having a floor of 7-10 for your worst player per week isn’t bad at all, vereen has only beaten that since week 2 once, 7-10 is ellington’s exact range so far too. Of course guys like Rawls have huge ceilings, and C.Thompson has has 3 scores right at 10 and one of 22 in this league since getting used.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: I’m okay dropping Spiller for Anderson, I still think he should be owned, just not started. I’ve been pumping Spiller the last few weeks, so I might hold one more. The snaps are good, but last week’s Ben Watson show kinda covered up that Spiller was in a lot of those plays.

      • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
        (link)

@Jay: the idea of spiller being owned makes sense, as he’s still at the age where he could right now be sproles of yesteryear. it sucks that they clearly don’t trust him to stay healthy at all and this is likely why he hasn’t done any returns, if he did those i’d be flexing him EVERY week, and miss out on one of Vereen’s good games (they’ve happened before). I drafted Spiller very early, based not only on your guys’ rankings (which were high) but also in that he was projected to be return man (i’m quite sure it was kicks, and possibly punts too). This is the exact league where for at least 2 years straight sproles was BEST player in fantasy due to doing all returns and a lot of scrimmage stuff at the same time, something like a 26-27 pt per week average.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: Yeah, an early injury nixed that idea, but I really liked him in PPR this season. I think he can contribute, but the Saints offense has been all over place. I mean, just look at the emergence of Snead… literally from the street to #2 WR.

  19. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

Looks like Tyrod is going to be out for this week. Would you grab Bortles or Hoyer to replace him?

4 point passing TDs – 3 point bonus at 250 yards passing/100 yards rushing – 6 point bonus at 335 yards passing/150 yards rushing

    • Jay

      @Wilsonian: I’m going Bort-Borty-Bortles there.

      @Scott: Aiken.

  21. What's a Drexl? says:
    (link)

2 QB league where i grabbed Landry thinking with him i’d have Tyrod and him this week. Somebody else grabbed manuel (at the time news indicated likiest out QB was Ben). mettenberger still out there. I’m still favored over Opp with landry (if he starts) by yahoo projections. 1 day waiver time if i drop Landry (and we gotta think he’s better than mettenberger also if they both play, actually i see your ranking has mettenberger higher, but that could have to do with who you think is more likely to play); and this is without rodfather playing anymore.

waivers are everyday except when somebody is dropped, then it rolls over to 1 more day. You really both
    1. think mettenberger will do better?
    and
    2. mettenberger is more likely to play than Landry (i see you have no ben, but i’m guessing you’re doing the wait and see on that one)? It’s odd nobody grabbed Mettenberger yet, but at this point i just want to take guy who’s most likely to play, this is only week i have this massive problem, with both DEN Qb’s off AND Rodgers.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@What’s a Drexl?: With Tyrod out, the rankings shift around a little. They should be updated again soon, maybe next hour or so. I’m in a wait and see on Ben. Right now, I think Mettenerger is slightly better here.

  22. Scott says:
    (link)

Hi Jay. I was wondering if you could give me more thoughts on your downgrades on Kendall Wright and Charles Clay?

If Hyde doesn’t go tonight, I have to choose between those two as my FLEX. Heck, they’re even close enough to be in the mix anyway.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Scott: I think Mettenberger goes check downs mainly and Jacksonville is pretty bad against receivers. With McCoy back as well, most check downs will go to him.

  23. Scott says:
    (link)

    ROS? Charcandrick or Duke Johnson?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Scott: Johnson ever so slightly. True coin flip to be honest.

  24. Scott says:

The Texans Offense seem to be the Jags of this year as far as Defensive streaming against. Why so low on the Phins D?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Scott: Hoyer is pretty terrible, but unlike Mallett, he’s at least giving his weapons a chance to get the ball. Not quite sold on the Phins defense yet.

    WR-Jarvis Landry
    WR-Steve Smith
    RB-DeMarco Murray
    RB-Latavius Murray
    TE-Greg Olsen
    FLEX-James Jones

Bench-Antonio Gates, Christine Michael, Jordan Matthews, Mike Evans, James Starks, Allen Hurns

    IR- Jordy

    K-Tucker
    DEF-Broncos

Having both Rodgers and the Broncos on byes this week who should I pick up out of the following:

    1. Eli, Tannehill, Fitz, or Bortles?

    and then…

    2. Atlanta is available, I should roll with them correct based on your rankings?

    3. Big question is who do I drop to make these 2 adds?

    thanks so much!
    best,
    Ryan

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@ryanoger: I’d go Manning, and sure, streaming ATL seems prudent. I’d drop jeez… you literally have no drops here. Eesh… maybe Starks and Hurns. I’m surprised you weren’t able to get anything for Gates or Olsen…

      • ryanoger says:
        (link)

        @Jay:

Damn didn’t realize Eli wasn’t up for grabs who’s next in line then?

Yeah man I’m bummed no one is willing to give up their RBs pretty much the only thing I need/want…

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@ryanoger: Tanne is the next guy up. I know Starks is good depth, but I think Lacy heals up this bye week.

Grade the trade: I offered Eli, Hill, and Jordan Matthews to get Nuk Hopkins and Danny Woodhead. It’s a standard 12 team league and my other RBs are Arian, Ivory, Ryan Mathews. My WRs are Demaryius, A. Robinson, Lafell, Marvin Jones, and Diggs.

I only recently became WR top-heavy but that’s b/c I have 2 on bye next week. I’m 1-5 so need to be make a move and am tired of playing the wrong QB (my other is Rivers).

Should I pull the trigger? Thanks!

@Brian: I think it’s a fair trade, but I’m higher on Woodhead, even in standard, more than most.

I can be the mass, too? Yay for new football name! I am now the Festering Drop Kicks…sounds contagious. Anywho.

10-team PPR league and I have too many bye week and injury gaps to fill for Week 7 and not enough obvious drops. I need a QB, a K, and a DST…or I can freeball it and play handicapped. What do I do and who do I drop? Abdullah, K.Davis, and J.Matthews seem the only tempting drops. Help!

    QB – Big Ben (inj)
    WR – Julio, Fitzgerald, A-Rob, Landry, J.Matthews
RB – Lewis, CJ2K, Abdullah, Christine, Starks
    TE – Gronk
    K – McManus (bye)
    DST – Broncos (bye)

Available QBs of note: Tannehill, Fitzpatrick, Landry Jones
Available DSTs of note: PHI, PIT, WAS
    Available K of note: Catanzaro
