It’s been a week since I checked in. Hopefully, all of the drafts are finished or close to being finished. I was with the first dozen eager beavers that signed up, and our draft progressed quickly – we were finished last Wednesday evening PDT…although I maybe should have taken a little more time on my last pick. More on that in a bit.

Here’s how my roster rounded, in order drafted:

1.02 Bijan Robinson, RB, Falcons, 11

2.11 Brock Bowers, TE, Raiders, 13

3.02 Breece Hall, RB, Jets, 13

4.11 Emeka Egbuka, WR, Buccaneers, 10

5.02 Luther Burden, WR, Bears, 10

6.11 Carnell Tate, WR, Titans, 9

7.02 Stefon Diggs, WR, Commanders, 7

8.11 Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jaguars, 7

9.02 Jonathon Brooks, RB, Panthers, 5

10.11 Makai Lemon, WR, Eagles, 10

11.02 Jared Goff, QB, Lions, 6

12.11 Tyrone Tracy, RB, Giants, 8

13.02 Juwan Johnson, TE, Saints, 8

14.11 Calvin Ridley, WR, Titans, 9

15.02 Omar Cooper, WR, Jets, 13

16.11 MarShawn Lloyd, RB, Packers, 11

17.02 Terrance Ferguson, TE, Rams, 11

18.11 Keon Coleman, WR, Bills, 7

19.02 David Njoku, TE, Chargers, 7

20.11 Nick Bawden, RB, Texans, 8

The number at the end of the string is the team’s bye week.

A lot of youth, with some guys that I hope have something left in the tank for 2026 in later rounds. Diggs was one of those guys I jumped on because the news of him signing was fresh, and I went more rookie-heavy at WR than I usually do.

Did I get my guys? I suppose in the sense that I don’t close off much of the player pool. I’m unsure it was wise to draft two Jets, or especially two Titans WRs, given they have a new coach and system, plus an unproven QB. I try to weigh information as I get it, and am changing on the fly. Drafting at the 1.02, I was certain that my pick would either be Jahmyr Gibbs or Bijan Robinson, although Ja’Marr Chase was also a possibility. The way it shook out, running backs were at a premium.

And the 20.11? Never heard of him?

Yes, neither had I. I got home from a day at the ballpark that started around 10:00 a.m. and ended after 8:00 p.m. I saw I was on the clock and was not exactly in a hurry to pick, but was not mindful that, as I scrolled down the list of available players, I had selected one in my draft window. So instead of selecting the player I wanted, I took a player who was last cut in the 2024 preseason.

He may be playing football in 2026, but it’s unlikely to be in the NFL.

I’m glad about waivers. Speaking of which, the first run will be on Wednesday, September 8, at 10:00 p.m. CDT.

A couple of other changes I’ve become aware of:

  • The FAAB for 2026 will be $1,000 rather than $10 that we used to have. That will allow more nuance and flexibility, while depleting the free agent pool.
  • I’m pretty sure during my initial messages, I said the rosters would be 22 players; they are actually 20 players. I regret the confusion.

Now, the wait for the season begins. Any assistance I can provide from here on out is at your disposal; feel free to ask.
