Excuse me, everybody, I’m a bit tired from spending the last week pitching the Razzbowl to the Shark Tank investors. See, I thought we had such a good program here — the best ball, the FAAB, the community — that we could turn this [waves hands around frantically] from the world’s biggest free Pros-V-Joes best ball tournament into a lucrative side-business. Then, Mark Cuban started talking about some team he owns, and I started talking about how I drafted Joe Mixon and Leonard Fournette, and then he started saying something about inexperience and over-my-head, and then I took my prop football and I threw it right over his head. Turns out, if you attack a billionaire, there’s a group of people who start following you, but not in a Korean boy-band kind of way.

So while I write this from the rest stop in eastern Kentucky eluding the finest private security vans that Cuban could hire, I trust that y’all will learn from my mistakes and do a Kickstarter in the future.

Week 2 Roundup

With 418 points, Curtis Jones has taken the lead in the main event, led by the surging Josh Allen, the still-hot Aaron Jones, and the big TE-who-could, Tyler Higbee. Whereas last week we saw Heath Cummings take the early lead behind a 0 RB behemoth, Curtis Jones has taken the lead with a Nick Chubb/Aaron Jones combination that features WRs Chase Claypool, Robby Anderson, and DeVante Parker.

The highest scoring team of the week came from Joseph Bond, who took the honors with 236.5 points. Joe also has Josh Allen and Aaron Jones, but coupled them with Calvin Ridley, John Brown, and Mike Gesicki.

Of the top 5 teams, 4 of them are what I would consider a “Robust RB” composition, with last week’s #1 team, led by Heath Cummings, being the only 0 RB team still in the top 5.

If you’re in the qualifier, unfortunately, I don’t have access to the cumulative competition scores. However, if you are above 410 points, then congrats! You’re in the top 10 of the main event!

FAAB-ulous Finds

Mike Davis, the new CMC, was picked up in 33 leagues between the main event and the qualifier, making him — by far — the most acquired player in the Week 2 FAAB period. Most people wanted to pay about $3-4 for him, but a few owners went hard on Davis to the tune of $6-7.  Tied for second place, 22 teams grabbed Keenan Cole and Dalton Schulz, although these unexpected target hogs went for a maximum of $4. Myles Gaskin and Dion Lewis filled out the top 5.

As for the most expensive yet under-FAAB’d players, one lucky owner scored Russell Gage for $6 in Week 2, which is probably one of the great grabs of the Razzbowl FAAB. In my own league, Rob Waziak grabbed Malcolm Brown for $6, although he bid against himself. It seems like nobody in our league wanted a Rams RB!

Yours Truly

Oh, it’s ugly. My #2WR and 4th round pick, Courtland Sutton, just ended his 2020 season. I wish I had taken my own advice a bit more strongly and taken a 3rd RB a bit higher than, well, Kerryon Johnson. Instead, I went for the Kyler/Kirk stack at the 5/6 turn. The Kyler pick was great. The Kirk pick was…so far…baffling. Kirk was used a fair amount in 2019. Kirk has been hurt so far in 2020, so there’s still upside to come…which is what I keep telling myself as I rock myself to sleep at night.

Good luck in week 3 everybody!Â
