I’m sure you’ve been wondering, “Why did Donkey Teeth retreat into solitude after executing such a flawless RazzBowl draft?”  The truth is, when you draft the most dominant RazzBowl team in the history of RazzBowl teams drafted by a Donkey hopped up on green juices and hallucinogens, withdrawal is unavoidable.

Once you reach these transcendental states of consciousness, the come down back to ordinary reality is never easy. There’s been tears of joy, tears of despair, tears of confusion, and tears from slicing onions; the tears have dried up just in time for Labor Day drafts and week one of the regular season. One fortunate soul now sets out on a life altering journey toward spiritual fulfillment in the form of an immortal, orgasmic, RazzBowl Championship legacy and more importantly a free subscription to Rudy’s NFL DFS Premium Package

Rudy’s tools, such a bargain! Speaking of bargains, these players were quite the bargain when RazzBowl drafts were conducted a month ago:

Duke Johnson – Since the RazzBowl’s inception, Duke Johnson’s situation has changed drastically. First, he was dealt from the Browns to the Texans with the Texans giving up a 3rd round draft pick in the deal, this tells us Houston has big plans for the little Johnson. Then, last weekend, Lamar Miller tore his ACL thrusting Johnson to the top of the Texan’s depth chart.  While the mid-sixties ADP for Duke Johnson is a bit steep for my liking, he could easily return that value and then some in PPR leagues.

Josh Gordon  – The reason for Flash Gordon’s meteoric rise up draft boards since the RazzBowl (selected to Team Donkey Teeth at pick 147 *brushes shoulder*) is also no mystery:  the commissioner has reinstated Gordon into the league and he might actually play. There’s a lot skepticism about whether the former phenom can stay sober for an entire season, but it sounds like Tom Brady has taken him under his wing, and Brady’s friendship cures all. {Editor’s note: Except for mesothelioma} That said, there’s other players I’d rather take a shot on around his recent ADP of 69. Nice.

Darwin Thompson – As you may have gathered from the video Grey and I created at the top of this page, I’m a huge Darwin Thompson fan. I was smitten back in June when we discussed Thompson on our podcast formerly known as the Fantasy Sausage Pod, now known as the Razzball Fantasy Football Podcast, otherwise known as “Who taught that Donkey to talk?!” Even as Darwin’s recent ADP climbs up toward 90, I’m still buying; it’s a gamble worth taking for his legitimate first round upside.

Edit: LeSean McCoy just signed with the Chiefs, muddying the waters big time. I expect this gives us a major price break on Darwin Thompson during these final days of draft season. If so, I’ll be buying Darwin shares hand over fist. I still like Thompson’s chances of taking over this backfield sooner rather than later.

Tony Pollard – The will they, won’t they between Jerry Jones and Zeke becomes more dramatic by the day. Get a room and make up already! I fully expect Zeke and Jerry to consummate a new deal any day now, but I also expect Pollard to have a significant role in the Cowboys offense even when Zeke is around. I’d rather take a shot on Darwin Thompson than Pollard since they’re going in the same area, but if you’re able to land both then why not. Or did you come to play it safe and draft the Jordan Howards of the world?

Nick Chubb – I’ll admit it, Nick gives me Chubb. We discussed him with Razzball’s own Rudy Gamble on the relaunch of the Razzball Fantasy Football Podcast. Since RazzBowl draft completion, his ADP has moved from the mid-second round up to the back end of the first round. There’s no obvious cause for this boost, but Chubb’s been heavily hyped in some industry circles this preseason, and for good reason. The idea that Kareem Hunt will be a threat to Chubb’s workload later this year makes little sense to me. In 2018 the kid proved he’s one of the best young backs in the game and he’ll be a focal point of this loaded Brown’s offense. I’m fully on board in the late first or early second round.

David MontgomeryBeginning to see a theme here? The third rookie running back on our RazzBowl bargains list, David Montgomery looked fantastic in his limited preseason action. Bears coach Matt Nagy also came out and said Tarik Cohen may have been overused a bit last year. I’m not sure if the Cohen statements are true or just coach speak, but for these reasons Monty has steadily climbed up boards over the last month. It’s still a fair price for the Iowa State product who has a chance at posting a top 10 fantasy RB season, but I’ve found myself more prone to take the discount on Tarik Cohen in PPR leagues. The Human Joystick posted a RazzBowl ADP of 58, he’s now going off the board around pick 69 in the past week’s drafts. Nice.

James WashingtonAround RazzBowl draft time there was a bit of uncertainty regarding the #2 and #3 wide receiver spots in Pittsburgh. By virtue of an impressive training camp, along with an untimely injury to skilled rookie Diontae Johnson,  second year wide out James Washingbeard has staked his claim to at least the #3 WR spot. With AB now freezing his feet and complaining about helmets in Oakland, there’s plenty of targets to go around. I’m in on Washington, but also keep a close eye on rookie Diontae Johnson. Current #2 on the depth chart, Donte Moncrief, doesn’t exactly have the best track record.

That wraps it up for this edition of RazzBowl Reading. I’ll check back in at least a couple times a month with RazzBowl and RazzBowl Qualifier updates, depending on how much time I need to spend motivating Team Donkey Teeth. Bowl on.

Drafted from the 11 slot yesterday, 12 team PPR, what do you think? Took Melvin and Josh in the 4th/5th, i like the upside gamble on both.

    QB Wentz
    RB Melvin Gordon
    RB Tevin Coleman
    WR JuJu
    WR OBJ
    TE Andrews
    Flex Josh Gordon
    Flex Singletary
    BN Guice
    BN Darwin
    BN Anthony Miller
    BN Jaylen Samuels
    BN Renfrow

I love it assuming Melvin plays sooner rather than later. That’s pretty late to land him so I like the gamble. I wish your 2nd RB was a little more of a horse than Tevin but you have some nice upside darts there with Guice, Singletary and Darwin so I think you’ll be just fine. And how can you not love a WR core of JuJu/OBJ in PPR.

The nature of fantasy football draft grades is more pass/fail to me than anything else, and you passed.

What rd would you consider melvin gordon in a 10 team league .5 ppr league? I guess he now has permission to seek a trade which doesn’t sound like he will be back with the chargers.

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

I might be a little more aggressive on him with 10 teams because replacement value on the wire is a little higher. Horses like Melvin are what win you championships.

I’d look at him anywhere in the early to mid 4th round, maybe even in the late 3rd depending on who else falls…I’ll say I’d rather lock up a Kerryon or Josh Jacobs if they’re still around.

Hoping for a little help with a keeper decision here for a 12 team .5 ppr league.

I’ve got my first four keepers penciled in with Hopkins, McC, Conner, and Chubb. I can keep one more, either Mixon or Kittle.

Mixon would be my fourth RB and would be bench depth or trade bait given that we can only start three at a time. But I’ve learned over the years you can never have too many good RB’s.

Or do I keep Kittle? This would have the added benefit of allowing me to keep my team name Kittles ‘n Bits.

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:

Kittles ‘n Bits is solid but I think it’s time for a new team name. I’d keep Mixon and hoard those elite RBs. Someone will come calling for one soon enough.

Awesome start to a team there by the way!

What do you think are the outlooks of Carlos Hyde and lesean McCoy post trade and where are you targeting in a 12team .5 ppr draft?

    • The Harrow says:
      (link)

check rudy’s bot, it’s been adjusted for these moves, hyde went from about no value at all to middleish backup level and mccoy gained a very very slight amount (honestly you probably don’t need to adjust mccoy though)

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:

I’m not very high on Hyde, I wouldn’t take him until the last round or two of a 12 team draft.

McCoy is a little more interesting due to his history with Andy Reid and the $3 mill guaranteed he got. That backfield has turned into a bit of a headache, but I saw McCoy go at pick 105 in a draft I was in earlier today. He’s definitely worth a shot in that area…I’d consider him anywhere after pick 90. Nobody know’s how that backfield is going to pan out yet.

      • The Harrow says:
        (link)

oh yeah at 90 that’s fair value. d.williams’ handcuffing i’ve seen do that exact thing a few times in money leagues last 2 nights in that range

    DT….. Did I royally F myself?

10-team 1flex 1/2 ppr, I somehow ended up with Sony Michel *AND* James White. (Also Zeke, Sanders, Latavius)

Do I trade one? It would be foolish to ever start both, right? I don’t know what Kind of value I can get for White immediately after the draft.

“/// help him Donkey, you’re his only hope /// “

      Hey Foolish,

Nah you didn’t F yourself. I could see starting both of them when byes come through. White should have a ton of receptions and Sony will score lots of TDs. They could both put up some big weeks against the right opponent.

I’d be open to trading either, but don’t force a deal. Wait and see how everything shakes out.

    how’s this one look.
super flex 12 team PPR keep 4 draft. 20 QB’s in the first 10 rounds (one guy was on auto and got dalton as his QB 1 much later, but that guy has almost certainly the best top 3 WR’s and ertz too). drafted out of the 6 hole and first and probably only time i’ll have kelce anywhere, and since it’s a keep 4 this is actually really good. no RB till 3rd round (which i pretty much never do). no accident i have tons of guys rudy is much higher on (a.wilson, adams, dede, j.brown, c.davis)

QB wentz (6th QB off board, 4th round), trubisky (18th off board, 10th round), mariota (just missed foles, 26th off board, 14th)

    RB (2) AAron jones (3rd), mack (5th), lindsay (6th), ballage (11th), ogunbowale (15), armstead (16)

WR (3): adams (1), dede (7), c.davis (8, i PROBABLY should’ve gone fuller here and could’ve gotten c.davis in the 9th), fuller (9), a.wilson (12), j.brown (13), p.williams (sort of handcuff to a.wilson, if he gets hurt again this guy’s stock’ll rise a lot, could’ve went other BUF guys or enunwa for a long time, or funchess a few rounds ago 19th)

TE: kelce (2), hockenson (didn’t even want a 2nd TE here, BUT hock in the 17th is insane in case he blows up, plus 2 flexes)

    2 regular flexes

    1 super flex

    DEF: BAL (18)

got some bye week issues on WRs (first 4 drafted all have weeks 10/11 byes). only thing maybe i can see wrong is i could’ve gone RB #5 earlier and could’ve had maybe one of dion, gio, gore, samuels, CJA, hyde, ty mont along with ogunbowale but not armstead.

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:

I like it. Well rounded team, nice QBs and Jones/Mack is a very solid top two for waiting. I’m with Rudy on Dede, think he’s gonna blow up. Fuller and Ballage were both great values as well. I dig Hockenson too.

      Nice work!

  8. toolshed says:
    (link)

Back to my earlier question. Are you still saying you’d take gordon early to mid 4th rd or even late 3rd now that news came out that SD isn’t going to negotiate with him until season is over. That means he either has to back down or has to get traded. 10 team. .5 ppr. Thanks

    • The Harrow says:
      (link)

with LAC’s history this exact thing was probably assumed to be what was going to happen with him. technically they already negotiated with him when they offered 10 mil a year (if sources are right).

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

Yes, it’s risky but as Harrow says nothings really changed. I think Melvin will play, but don’t take him if you aren’t mentally prepared for the possibility that he doesn’t.

  9. Jason says:

In a 12 team ppr, would you own darwin over murray or royce freeman?

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

No, as much as I like Darwin its too crowded of a backfield now to own him over those guys who we think have established roles out of the gates. I do think you’ll want Darwin on your roster at some point this year, just tough to stash him over those two…

  10. The Sportsguy says:
    (link)

Keeper question…14 teams, .5 PPR..Mack in the 7th or Mike Williams in the 9th…I have 12th pick BTW so likely a WR in the first and maybe Mixon/cook on th turn….

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

I’d go Mack. Mixon/Cook would be a great turn also.

Thoughts on Waller week 1? I drafted Hooper is he the smarter play initially?

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:

I’d start Waller but I’m sure I’ll be in the minority, most will have Hooper ranked ahead…
