Darn straight I’m going to use an exclamation point there. As I alluded to in last week’s RCL update, when I mentioned that a mysterious additional prize shall be announced at a date that remains a mystery, well, my allusions are now over. Illusions too, because I don’t have that type of holographic technology. I believe only Tupac and Star Trek have that power… but don’t worry! Be happy! I totally didn’t just quote a song! But I might have! I’m yelling all of this because we have a new prize to announce! Okay, let’s introduce this thing, seeing as how I have to go search for a throat lozenge. Our friends at Far Out Awards have provided you, the Razzball Commentator Player, a wonderful new prize, and that’s an actual Fantasy Football Trophy! Sorry, I’ll stop yelling now. Seriously, this thing is completely what I would imagine a Razzballer having in his or her home. And that’s not to mention the fact that we still have a Bobble Head set up for grabs, along with Razzball t-shirts.

Which brings up another point. Be a RCL commisioner. It’s super easy (I promise), and just a few minutes of work could enter you in for a chance to win a Best Buy gift card. Because any Razzball writer is not eligible, the prize pool is that much smaller, and you could walk away with whatever you kids are buying at Best Buy nowadays. Blu-rays, robots, lasers, drones, who knows. Follow me after the jump for all your RCL details…

Prize for Overall RCL Champion: A Fantasy League Champion Trophy, brought to you by our freinds at Far Out Awards.

Bonus Prize for Overall RCL Champion: Custom-Made Razzball Bobblehead Doll Set. (With two figurines, together, one with the likeness of myself, Jay, and the one of you, the winner!)

Okay, so it’s not exactly like above, unless you have a mustache like that AND want to marry me… but they are good examples of what you can expect. The likeness will be based off your submitted photo, and will read “Jay & (Your Name), Razzballers for Life” at the base. It will be a hand-sculpted 7-inch (approximate) tall figurine (2 people), sure to be the envy of everyone who visits your mom’s basement. Just be sure to cover my side with a napkin or something when the ladies come over. Not your mom though. She knows what’s up. Actually, now that I think of it, based on how I look, we might have a better example to show you of how this bobblehead doll set might turn out.

Prize for Commissioner of the League That Hosts the RCL CHAMPION: $50.00 Best Buy Gift Card.

You read it right folks. If you are the Commissioner of the league that our RCL Champion is in, you get a prize. So what should you do? Follow the instructions below to create a league. The more leagues you create and fill, the greater the chance you have of hosting the eventual winner. Create as many as you want… just make sure to get them filled, so go nuts!

Special Bonus Prize: Razzball T-shirt for the Top Three finishers of all the RCL’s hosted by Razzball Contributor Tehol Beddict.

Tehol thinks that, with the power of his Elder Gods, he is unbeatable. And guess what? He’s willing to put some pretty smooth cottons on the line. Are you brave enough to battle not just his fantasy football wit, but his fantasy football loins? If you so choose to take this challenge, you are a braver person than I, that’s for sure.

Please Note: Razzball contributors, while allowed to participate, are not eligible for prizes. If a Razzball contributor is RCL Champion, the Grand Prize will go to the next highest scoring player, and that Grand Prize will be a $100.00 Best Buy gift card. If a Razzball contributor hosts the RCL Champion in his/her league, the next highest scorer’s league Commissioner will receive the $50.00 Best Buy gift card.

Fantasy Football Razzball Commenter Leagues 2014:

  1. Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:

listening to Smokey about Greene injury i have two should i drop for McCluster questions.
    1. .1 pt per return yard. drop mcfadden/ivory/freeman for mccluster? i have c.johnson for ivory has some extra value.
    2. .05 per return yard. Only start 2 RB. drop any of Miller/Mcfadden for McCluster. i also have Sankey here.
McCluster is doing punt returns too.

  2. Eric says:

    PPR draft last night

    QB RG3
    WR Brandon Marshall
    WR Julio Jones
    WR Andre Johnson
    RB Ryan Mathews
    RB Toby gerhart
    TE Antonio Gates
    Flex joique bell

    BN Marques colston
    BN trent Richardson
    BN Ahmad Bradshaw
    BN Ben roethlisberger
    BN knowshon Moreno

    What do you think? Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Eric: Gotta love that Marshall, Jones combo in PPR. As you know, I love Mathews, and I think Gates has a bit left. Bench is okay, but I really like Bradshaw this season.

  3. Frank White says:

Sup Jay… I drafted my team, What you think?? PPR
    Levon Bell
    Julius Thomas
    Ronnie Hillman
    Lamar Miller
    Mike Wallace
    Antonio Gates

    • Frank White says:

Oh when I put Bryant I meant he Kicker Matt Bryant

      • Jay

        Jay says:

@Frank White: That changes things a tiny bit. Hah. I like this team… Charles and Thomas are perfect anchors, and while Harvin is risky, I like your bench. And I’m obviously high on Cruz this year, especially in PPR.

        • Frank White says:

Thanks.. Hey do you think Marcus “Soup” Harris is gonna be a breakout receiver this year??

  4. EDUB says:

.5 PPR league, which of these WR’s do you like best in a redraft?
John Brown, Mike Williams, or Cody Latimer

    • Jay

      Jay says:

      @EDUB: Williams.

  5. Brown L says:

Drafted for a 12-team, 1-QB, standard-scoring league last night, and I’m feeling pretty meh. Definitely waited too long for a QB, mostly because guys started doubling up on QBs before finishing out their rosters. We start 2 RBs and WRs with one flex.

    QB: Dalton, Flacco
RB: McCoy, Martin, Tate, Richardson, C. Michael
WR: A. Brown, Garcon, Crabtree, Watkins, Hopkins
    TE: Ertz, L. Green
    Def: Stream
    K: Some guy

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Brown L: I’m getting the meh here too, but it’s not that bad. TE is okay, WR is fine, RB is fine, not crazy about the QB’s (you can drop Flacco for Def or K)… its really just an all-around slightly above average team, but it could surprise you. I think Martin is big this year.

  6. Brian says:

Drafted the other day in a 12 team standard league. I think I may have had my worse draft ever you tell me.

    QB= Luck
    RB #1 Demarco Murray
    RB #2 Ellington
    WR #1 Dez Bryant
    WR #2 Floyd from Arizona
    WR #3 Cooks
    TE#1 Gronk.
    TE#2 Rudoulf

    J. Stewart
    James White
    J. Gordon

My starting line up consist of 1 QB , 2 RB 1 RB/WR flex, 2 WR , 1 WR/TE Flex and one TE. Is this draft as ugly as I think it is ? Waivers are thin I am sitting #1 on the wire so preying for a quick injury.

    Thanks Bro

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Brian: Well, there’s a lot of risk here, and the bench needs some work, but I wouldn’t say it’s ugly. It has potential, but if injuries hit, that’s your season right there.

  7. Lotin says:

Can you join more than 1 league? Another league I was in folded and I was hoping to play in 2 this year…

    • Jay

      Jay says:

Of course, join as many as you want!

  8. Ryu Kidding me? says:

Hey Jay.. Give me your advice on a standard scoring 12 team league.
    QB Brady
    RB Jamal Charles
    RB Doug Martin
    RB/WR G. Bernard
    WR Garcon
    WR Crabtree
    TE Jordon Cameron
    WR/TE- R. Randle
    DEF Rams
    K Tucker
    Knile Davis
    Kendrall Tompkins
    Charles Johnson

I got offered Jimmy Gramham and S. Jackson for my Doug Martin and Jordan Cameron. Do I pull the trigger? or hold and see how the season goes.

  9. CL says:

Jay: What are you “must follow” Twitter feeds during the season? @NFLBNN one? The ones that you feel give you an edge?

    Thanks man.

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@CL: I try to follow the big news guys to get ahead on breaking stories like Ian Rapoport, Adam Schefter, etc. NFL Rotoworld football is a good one too.

      • CL says:

@Jay: Thanks! @Razzball is the main feed for yous guys, right?

        • Jay

          Jay says:

@CL: yup, and you can follow @jaywrong.

          • CL says:

@Jay: @Jay: Thanks! @Razzball is the main feed for yous guys, right?

            Done and done.

  10. Jeff P says:

Do you put much stock in RGIII horrible preseason numbers? I have him as my starter, with Tannehill as the back up. Would you:
    1) Drop Tannehill for Locker, because of Whisenhunt in Tennessee, making Locker look like Rivers
    2) Drop Tannehill for Geno Smith, just to start Geno against the Raiders in week 1.

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Jeff P: Pre-season numbers mean very little to me. I would not want Geno Smith anywhere near my team. I think Tannehill and Locker can be essentially the same thing… so flip a coin,

  11. Zandy says:

    Need your opinion…

Live draft last night for 10 team H2H league – big $ buy-in
Explicitly stated numerous times – NO ROSTER MOVES BEFORE WEEK 1 SO PICK A K and DEF
A team takes Prater in the 15th round (first kicker taken)
Today commissioner opens a league vote on – can the team that took Prater not realizing his suspension, do a kicker swap
    What’s your view?

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Zandy: I think it should stand. This type of vote can open up a can of worms. What about the team that drafted Josh Gordon? I could make the argument that I drafted him expecting him to play, and if the suspension stays, well, I didn’t “realize” that would happen…

    • Moose Out Front says:

@Zandy: the real issue here is that the “no roster moves before week 1” thing is silly and this little kicker situation is just some fallout.

  12. Andrew M. says:

    How does my team look? 12 team league. starts 1qb, 2rb, 2wr, 1te, 1flex, 1k, 1dst.

    QB: Brady, Dalton
RB: Martin, B. Tate, J. Bell, P. Thomas, F. Jackson, McFadden
WR: C. Johnson, Jeffery, Patterson, M. Evans, B. Cooks
    TE: Olsen
    K: Blair Walsh
    DST: Bucs

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Andrew M.: You can probably drop Dalton. I’m not crazy about your RB core, but I love the WR side of it. Overall, good team.

  13. sean says:

im in a 12 team league 1/2 point ppr with a very aggressive distance scoring system. the td’s are the same for qb,rb,and te. td’s are worth 4 pts. (1-10yds) 5pts.(11-19yds) 6 pts(20-29yds)etc. 70-79 yd td is worth 11 pts and 80-89 is worth 12 pts. So the further the td the more points its worth. We draft 20 roster spots. Last year peyton manning scored 637 pts. and jamaal charles scored 340 in this system. Please, tell me how I did with my team. Thanks!
    we start 1QB,2 RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2 FLEX(RB,WR,TE) AND 1 K. We carry 10 bench.

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@sean: Based on those rules, I like this team. The bench is strong, and you have guys who can stretch the field in Bryant and Wright. Some risk here with Reed and Harvin, but I like the Jennings and Bradshaw handcuffs there.

  14. SMLV1 says:

Hey Jay, First time as a commish in my one Y! 10 Team standard redraft league.

Is this trade fair? or should I just not care?

    Team A –

QB – Stafford, RG3, Big Ben
WR – Fitzgerald, Patterson, M. Floyd, Benjamin, Wheaton
RB – Gerhart, Greene, Matthews, F. Jackson
    TE – Graham
    K – Bryant
    DEF – CIN

    (Receives Josh Gordon for RG3)

    Team B –

    QB – Newton, Dalton
WR – D. Thomas, R. White, G. Tate, Wallace, Gordon
RB – Bell, Morris, Gore, Green-Ellis
    TE – Olsen, Clay
    K – Gould
    DEF – KC

    (Receives RG3 for Josh Gordon)

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@SMLV1: Yeah, doesn’t seem super bad, in most cases, I would ignore all trades. It has to be egregious.

  15. Joe says:

Jay who you like moré levon bell or ashlon jeffrey?

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Joe: Bell slightly, but it depends on context.

      • Joe says:

        @Jay: PPR?

        • goodfold2 says:

@Joe: team context probably more telling.

  16. happyharry1958 says:

Do I have a chance with Jay Cutler as my starting QB?…or Wilson?
    12 team,PPR – start 1-QB, 2-RB, 3-WR, TE, K and Def.
    QB- Cutler,Wilson,Locker
    RB- Martin,Gio,Leveon and JoiqueBell
    WR- Marshal,AJ,VJax,Shorts,Wright
    TE- Graham,Clay
    K- Hauska,Henery
    D- SF, Buf…….Thanks Man!

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@happyharry1958: Yes, Cutler will certainly be a fair choice this season. Moreso than Wilson.

  17. vinny says:

Hi Jay…thinking of trading down from #1 pick draft slot to #9 pick draft slot in a 10 team PPR. What else should I get in return if I make that trade? Thanks.

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@vinny: I don’t mind keeping that #1, but if you have to trade, I’d want at least another second or high third rounder to give up a chance at the top-4.

  18. Project Merkin says:

Jay! I just finished my draft and I hope I drafted it in your honor. Can you take a look and let me know what you think?

PS: The Kendall Wright pick was a mistake, I was trying to add him to my queue and drafted him by mistake, but I was going to draft Reggie anyways and I got him in the next round.

    1. (5) Calvin Johnson (Det – WR)
    2. (20) Andre Ellington (Ari – RB)
    3. (29) Ryan Mathews (SD – RB)
    4. (44) Kendall Wright (Ten – WR)
    5. (53) Reggie Bush (Det – RB)
    6. (68) Colin Kaepernick (SF – QB)
    7. (77) Greg Olsen (Car – TE)
    8. (92) Pierre Thomas (NO – RB)
    9. (101) Danny Woodhead (SD – RB)
    10. (116) Brian Hartline (Mia – WR)
    11. (125) Darren Sproles (Phi – RB)
    12. (140) Tavon Austin (StL – WR)
    13. (149) Nick Novak (SD – K)
    14. (164) John Brown (Ari – WR)
    15. (173) Cleveland (Cle – DEF)

    • Project Merkin says:

      1/2 PPR by the way

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Project Merkin: Well, the Kap pick was not in my honor, but I’ll let it slide seeing as how the rest of your team is wonderful.

  19. Ron says:

Jay, how would you grade this team in a 12-team .5PPR 2 keeper league?

    QB – Rodgers
    RB – Charles
    WR – Megatron
    WR – Cruz
    RB/WR – Stacy
    TE/WR – Crabtree
    DEF – Bengals
    K – Dawson

    BN – Cameron (TE)
    BN – Colston (WR)
    BN – L. Miller (RB)
    BN – Cooks (WR)
    BN – Baldwin (WR)
    BN – C. Hyde (RB)
    BN – T. West (RB)
    BN – Wheaton (WR)

Just as a side note…I’m KICKING myself over forgetting Josh Gordon was there when I picked Wheaton. Ughhh..it burns me up! But I digress…for now.

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Ron: I wouldn’t worry too much on Gordon, he still has a DUI thing to deal with no matter what happens. RB’s are great, and love the WR core.

  20. Moose Out Front says:

Jay, I intend to commit to your rankings because Grey wins my baseball league for me and I’m loyal like that. (12 team 0.5PPR, 2RB 2WR 1 W/R)

Draft tomorrow I have the #3 pick so obvs I come away with a top RB1 there. Then at the turn I have #22 and #27. Almost for certain anyone following your rankings will have Zac Stacy available at #22 and Matthews at #27 available.

Is this RB-RB-RB upside play the strategy you would recommend? Obviously assuming no Tier 1 WR’s fall to 22, like Julio, but they won’t.

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Moose Out Front: The WR-WR-WR appears to be the new meta, but you don’t have to adhere to it. I think there are lot more sleeper WR”s than RB’s,so your strategy is fine there. And yeah, I’m certainly comfortable taking Stacy and Mathews there.

  21. OneI'dWilly says:

3 new spots in a league run by Tehol with yours truly. League only for the bravest souls. I was top 10 in all of RCL last year, and Tehol is the self proclaimed god of fantasy football. Bring your best.

  22. Raver says:

Same as maa mannn Moose above!! Committed to your rankings going into our PPR draft on yahoo – team is:

    Andrew Luck Ind – QB
    Calvin Johnson Det – WR
    DeSean Jackson Was – WR
    DeMarco Murray Dal – RB
    Ryan Mathews SD – RB
    Greg Olsen Car – TE
    Reggie Wayne Ind – WR
    C.J. Spiller Buf – RB

    Antonio Gates SD – TE
    Greg Jennings Min – WR
    Philip Rivers SD – QB
    Stevan Ridley NE – RB
    James Jones OK – WR

Thoughts Jay? Love the blog btw, keep up the gud work!!

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Raver: Thanks! Solid team, some risk at RB, but I think you have enough depth. Obviously, I love most of these players, so I’m expecting big things.
