Whether you’re in some serious trouble of missing the playoffs or already have your spot booked, there’s never a bad reason to improve your team for this week and into the future. So each week, I’ll be bringing you an article answering two simple questions: who should I stream this week and who should I stash for the future?
To keep things simple, we’ll define a streamer as any player you wouldn’t usually start who is a viable option for this week. They may be on your bench or they may be on waivers, depending on your league. We’ll define a stash as any player you can potentially find on waivers that you should stash for the future, either because they have a favorable match-up coming up, or because they could become a future fantasy starter.

QB Streamers:
Joe Flacco (CIN): The Steelers are a Top 10 quarterback matchup and Joe Flacco is the QB1 on a per-game basis over the last five weeks. That’s right, a 40-year old playing for a 3-6 team is the top fantasy quarterback over the last half of the season. Insane. I know Joe Burrow is likely back in two weeks but I’m starting Flacco at every opportunity until then.
JJ McCarthy (MIN): For the third straight week, JJ McCarthy appears on my list. He’s been a Top 14 QB the last two weeks so I feel good about his success rate, especially given this Bears game will be his easiest matchup to date. If you’re struggling at QB or without Daniel Jones this week, McCarthy is a fine filler.
QB Stash:
Aaron Rodgers (PIT): Bo Nix, Justin Herbert and Marcus Mariota are among those on bye next week. Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers takes on the struggling Bears defense. He’s also a good streamer for this week against the awful Bengals where Vegas is projecting them to be the second highest scoring team.
RB Streamers:
Aaron Jones (MIN): I called it last week and I’m doing it again. Aaron Jones is getting the majority of snaps in Minnesota and is a strong start in what should be a high scoring outing against the Bears.
Woody Marks (HOU): The Titans are awful against the run and rookie Woody Marks was the dominant back last week against the Jaguars. He’s turning into a must-start player if he keeps this up.
Sean Tucker (TB): The Buccaneers are splitting early-down carries nearly 50-50 between Rachaad White and Sean Tucker, with Tucker seeing a little more success. He’s a risk given his lack of receiving work but in one of the league’s easiest rushing matchups, I’m willing to start Tucker if you’re in trouble with byes or injuries.
RB Stashes:
Trey Benson (ARI): Trey Benson is available in nearly half of leagues and should be back in the next week or two. He’s a must-stash no matter your league size.
Running backs get injured more than any other player in fantasy, with the average Top 36 running back missing two games per season in fantasy. For that reason, your best bet in fantasy is to roster running backs who are an injury away from an every down role. Each week, I’ll be listing my favorite RB stashes, only including players you won’t be starting most weeks.
Top Handcuffs: Blake Corum, Brian Robinson, RJ Harvey, Isaiah Davis, Emanuel Wilson, Bhayshul Tuten, Tank Bigsby, Ollie Gordon, Ameer Abdullah, Keaton Mitchell, Raheem Mostert, Devin Neal
WR Streamers:
Tre Tucker (LV): Tre Tucker is the WR29 on the season thanks to an enormous Week 3 and mediocrity otherwise. But he’s coming out of a month of difficult matchups by facing the Cowboys this weekend. They’re the easiest wide receiver matchup by a kilometer. With Jakobi Meyers out of town, Tucker has a real chance to put up some serious points (though his floor is low too). And Tyler Lockett is more of a low-end flex option too if you need someone more likely to be available.
Christian Watson (GB): The Packers are having some crazy injury luck in WR-land, leaving Christian Watson as the possible WR1 in a plus matchup against the Giants. If Romeo Doubs is out, Watson is a solid stream for me. If Doubs plays, Watson’s more of a desperation option.
Mack Hollins (NE): Which Patriots WR played the most snaps last week? Stefon Diggs? No. Demario Douglas? Gosh no, he played less than a quarter. It was Mack Hollins by a mile. And he turned it into over 100 yards. He’s the guy I’m taking a punt on in leagues where I’m truly desperate for a healthy receiver.
WR Stashes:
Jayden Higgins (HOU): The Texans are finally shifting younger, with rookies Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel taking some proper 11 personnel snaps away from Xavier Hutchinson and Christian Kirk respectively in Week 10. Higgins is the guy with the upside though, and is well worth stashing in fantasy.
TE Streamers:
Cade Otton (TB): I said it last week and I’ll say it again; start Cade Otton when the Buccaneers are struggling with wide receiver injuries. He’s coming off a 12-target game and has averaged over 60 yards per game over the last six weeks. Yes, the Bills are the toughest tight end matchup in the league. But I’m using Otton anyway.
Theo Johnson (NYG): Fine, I’ll do it, I give in. I’m starting Theo Johnson in a solid tight end matchup against the Packers. He’s had double digit PPR points in five of his last seven games and is playing an impressively high snap count for a tight end. With so little certainty at the position, he’s a fine low-end stream.
TE Stash:
Brenton Strange (JAC): There’s talk of Brenton Strange coming off IR. With Brian Thomas Jr injured and Travis Hunter out for the season, Strange could be very busy down the stretch for Jacksonville.
K Streamers:
Tyler Loop (BAL): The Ravens score a lot of points and kick a lot of field goals. So, start Tyler Loop this week in a top-half kicker matchup.
Andy Borregales (NE): The Patriots also score a lot of points and they get the league’s best kicker matchup in the Jets. Andy Borregales is an average kicker but opportunity trumps talent here.
DST Streamers:
Texans DST (HOU): This is obvious. The Titans are awful and the Texans pass rush is elite. Houston’s DST is a must start.
Falcons DST (ATL): This is risky, but the Panthers have been poor of late, giving the Falcons an opportunity to make up for their mediocre effort in Carolina earlier this season.
Please note: I won’t be listing kicker or DST stashes. You should never put kickers or DSTs on your bench in redraft leagues. There are practically no exceptions. Just please, don’t do it.
