Whoa, we’re halfway there, but whoa, that doesn’t mean you need to be living on a prayer. After all, last week our stashes were Tyrone Tracy and Chimere Dike! There’s always gold to be found if you look hard enough, so let’s get searching. Every week, I’ll be bringing you an article answering two simple questions: who should I stream this week and who should I stash for the future?
To keep things simple, we’ll define a streamer as any player you wouldn’t usually start who is a viable option for this week. They may be on your bench or they may be on waivers, depending on your league. We’ll define a stash as any player you can potentially find on waivers that you should stash for the future, either because they have a favorable match-up coming up, or because they could become a future fantasy starter.

QB Streamers:
Caleb Williams (CHI): It’s hard to feel good about Caleb Williams at the moment and I should know, he’s one of my most owned quarterbacks. But if a Garrett Wilson-less Justin Fields can put 39 on the Bengals, I’m confident Williams will have a good game in Week 9. I’m starting him everywhere I have him.
Kyler Murray (ARI): He’s been injured and he hasn’t had a 20-point game yet this season, but I’m starting Kyler Murray against the Cowboys without a second thought.
Joe Flacco (CIN): Age means nothing to Joe Flacco. He’s bizarrely the QB7 over the last three weeks and now he gets a fantastic matchup against the Bears. With four teams on bye, here’s a third streamer for you.
QB Stash:
JJ McCarthy (MIN): I know he’s only two games into his NFL career, but I believe JJ McCarthy has the potential to be a solid fantasy starter for the remainder of the season. But it won’t be this week against the Lions. So, I’m rostering him in deeper leagues for the favorable upcoming matchups against the Ravens and Bears.
RB Streamers:
Tyrone Tracy (NYG): Last week I recommended picking up Tyrone Tracy as a stash and I bet you’re glad you did! He’s a solid weekly RB2 who won’t get the same goal line usage as Cam Skattebo but still offers a good volume floor in an improved Giants offense.
Zonovan Knight (ARI): The Cardinals have been abundantly clear who their starter is, releasing Michael Carter and adding him back to their practice squad. It will be the Zonovan Knight show against the Cowboys, so I’m starting Bam as a RB2.
Kyle Monangai (CHI): There’s no better running back matchup in football than the Bengals. Breece Hall and Isaiah Davis ran rampant for over 50 combined fantasy points last week and the Bears run attack is more potent. I’m starting both D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai as they’re now close to splitting snaps 50-50.
RB Stashes:
TreVeyon Henderson (NE): Last week’s 75-yard explosion is enough to give TreVeyon Henderson owners hope this season, and I agree to an extent. He’s certainly worth rostering, but I wouldn’t be starting him just yet.
Running backs get injured more than any other player in fantasy, with the average Top 36 running back missing two games per season in fantasy. For that reason, your best bet in fantasy is to roster running backs who are an injury away from an every down role. Each week, I’ll be listing my favorite RB stashes, only including players you won’t be starting most weeks.
Top Handcuffs: Blake Corum, Brian Robinson, RJ Harvey, Ollie Gordon, Isaiah Davis, Kareem Hunt, Emanuel Wilson, Bhayshul Tuten, Ameer Abdullah, Jaydon Blue, Raheem Mostert, Keaton Mitchell, Ty Johnson, Devin Neal
WR Streamers:
Jauan Jennings (SF): The Giants have been consistently awful at stopping opposing wide receivers so I’m starting Jauan Jennings with cautious confidence. Plus, if you need a depth option, I think Kendrick Bourne is a viable deep start available in many leagues.
Alec Pierce (IND): The Steelers are very weak against the deep pass, making Alec Pierce a high-upside option this week. He’s risky but particularly in non-PPR and half-PPR leagues, I’m willing to take the plunge.
Calvin Austin (PIT): This is a deep pull for those in bye trouble, but I think Calvin Austin has plenty of upside against a Colts defense that has conceded the second most points to WRs. Austin is the clear WR2 for Pittsburgh and the team uses their receivers a lot more when trailing, as they should against Indy.
WR Stashes:
Darius Slayton (NYG): The Giants have been moving the ball more effectively and seemed intent on getting Darius Slayton more involved in his return from injury. He’s worth a stash in deeper leagues given his clear upside in an offense that can no longer rely on Cam Skattebo.
TE Streamers:
Kyle Pitts (ATL): For me, Kyle Pitts is essentially a weekly starter given the lack of depth at the position. But here’s another reminder for you. Start Pitts.
Colston Loveland (CHI): I was extremely low on Colston Loveland coming into the season, as rookie tight ends usually start very slowly, and it was abundantly clear from the pre-season that he was behind Cole Kmet (yes, I have receipts). But I’m willing to start him this week with Kmet out and facing the Bengals, who are giving up points to anybody with a pulse at the moment. There’s a low floor but a moderate ceiling.
TE Stash:
David Njoku (CLE): The Browns have their bye week but I’m picking up David Njoku for the future. He’s likely to return to his split with Harold Fannin Jr once he’s healthy and the Browns are playing a looooot of 2TE sets which helps both. Plus, if he’s traded, there’s a few landing spots that give him solid upside as well.
K Streamers:
Michael Badgley (IND): I can’t believe that the Colts kicker still isn’t owned in most leagues. I recognise it’s changed from Spencer Shrader to Michael Badgley and that would have caught some people out but c’mon! Stay active people.
Tyler Loop (BAL): You can’t go too wrong starting kickers against Miami. Unless they randomly blow out the Falcons like last week apparently. But I’m going back for another go with a much better Ravens side that is healthy again.
DST Streamers:
Chargers DST (LAC): I know the Chargers DST is bottom half this season, but I’m starting anybody facing the Titans and this week is no exception.
Rams DST (LAR): It’s an all-LA defensive plan this week, as the Rams trot out rookie Tyler Shough for his first start, and you have to feel it won’t be pretty.
Please note: I won’t be listing kicker or DST stashes. You should never put kickers or DSTs on your bench in redraft leagues. There are practically no exceptions. Just please, don’t do it.
