The second bi-annual London game has arrived, and along with it comes another mandatory 15 hour drinking period. (Instead of the usual 11 hour one I play for on Sundays.) You may not think there’s a difference, but just ask my liver and it’ll tell ya, there’s actually not a difference. The world is dark and full of opportunities to drink. What can I say, my liver, it drinks and knows things. Beyond the early-early morning game across the pond, not much really stands out matchup wise today. I’d love to harp on the schedule yet again, but then it’d be the seventh straight week doing so and even seven times of anything is too much for me. Except when it comes to chocolate covered pretzels. I could eat those as a meal. You may wonder why I’m talking about chocolate covered pretzels, but, I mean, do you really want me to talk about the Ravens versus the Jets or the Bucs going against the Niners? Yeah, I didn’t think so…

Any and all questions will be answered below…

  1. Mike says:
    (link)

I’ve got a couple FLEX positions to fill:

Crowell(who i think bounces back this week), fuller, diggs or Travis Benjamin?

    Terrance west or Douglas Baldwin?

    • Mike says:
      (link)

@Mike: @Mike: also, would you start shady McCoy today? Looks like he’s limited to 25-30 plays.

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

@Mike: Unless you have a better option, 25-30 plays doesn’t seem like a lot when you consider that he probably won’t see the ball on maybe half those plays.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Mike: I think Benjamin is the guy here, along with West, but I think Crowell is okay with the first one too.

    • Cram It says:
      (link)

@Mike: He has West 17th and Baldwin 49th

  2. Brian says:
    (link)

Thinking of starting Golden Tate over Antonio Brown today is that crazy ? Last season while Ben was,out Brown did absolutely nothing why would, this, season be any different. I believe Tate has more upside in a game that could possibly be a shootout. I would imagine we will see a hefty dose of Bell today. Also what’s your thoughts on starting Gillespie today do you believe that McCoy will be limited ? Ty

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Brian: I think that’s a little wild, sure. I think Brown is one of those guys you start every Sunday unless they’re injured. There must be another way to get Tate in there? And yeah, McCoy will be limited, I think Gill is the guy there if you need him.

  3. Roy says:
    (link)

Gotta pick one… McCoy, Gillislee, Coleman

    Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Roy: Gillislee I think.

  4. Steve Stevenson says:
    (link)

0.5 ppr, would you rather stash Coates, Floyd or Don Jackson?

  5. the imp says:
    (link)

Apologies for (1) the long question and (2) repeating my question about Palmer, but I feel like my team’s ROS hinges on my management decisions this week.

My team is 3-3 and 4th of 12 teams in PPR with 6 playoff spots. Our benches are short and my current team is not set up very well for week 7 and week 9. Week 7 starters (assuming McCoy is limited or out) are listed and six players with Week 9 bye players are marked with *.
    QB Palmer *
    RB DJohnson * Gio B *
    WR Hilton, Edelman *, Crabtree
    TE Eifert *
Bench: McCoy, JStew, JordanMatt, DJax *

With a better record or fewer week 9 headaches, I’d be more comfortable holding on this team to see if Palmer or Eifert can give me one more difference maker for the stretch.
Of course, holding means I’m at risk of taking zeroes or dropping Palmer/Eifert/DJax during week 9. I also put week 7 at risk due to Palmer’s health/matchup and the uncertainty in Eifert’s debut.
I will continue try to work a WR trade, but our league doesn’t trade very often and I prefer WR depth at the end of the bye weeks anyway.

    So finally the questions:
    1) Given all this, do you risk Eifert today for his ROS upside or drop him to go with Ertz or Brate off the wire this week and streaming until further notice?
    2) Would you stick with Palmer until his bye or give up on an ROS QB and stream with the likes of Cousins/Eli/Dax/Wentz/Taylor on the wire? (This is the part I already asked, sorry and thanks for the help before if the extra context doesn’t change your answer).

    Good luck this week, Jay!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@the imp: No worries at all!

1 – I like Brate this week, so I think you can stream, but since you want to keep the team together, they are close enough to where it will be just fine if you hold.. 2 – Yeah, I’m fine with that, sticking with Palmer.

      • the imp says:
        (link)

@Jay: How often will you take a zero in a bye week to keep a team together? I know that is a contextual question where it might depend on my record by the time we get to week 9, but maybe I’ve been too allergic to zeroes in previous years.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@the imp: It depends on my confidance levels and where I’m at in the standings. You’re in the thick of it, so I’d be as risk adverse as possible and play to win the week in front of you.

  6. OldNavy says:
    (link)

Lions have the worse defense against the pass. It makes perfect sense to play Cousins this week.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@OldNavy: Yeah, it’s right at the top-10 mark this week. What holds him back is the fact that it’s Cousins.

  7. Fantasy girl xoxo says:
    (link)

    Please help Jay…
PPR league I have to play two… Who do I choose?!
    Jamaal Charles
    Terrance west
    Rashad Jennings
    Ryan Mathews
    Or
    Gillislee?!!!
I know I have way too many options but I’m torn today. Please help!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Fantasy girl xoxo: Yeah, a lot of options there. I’m probably going with Charles and West. But Mathews is kinda close, but it’s a tough game against the Vikings.

      • Fantasy girl xoxo says:
        (link)

thanks jay… That’s what I had but I was tempted to replace Charles with gillislee?
        Thanks for the help

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Fantasy girl xoxo: Yeah, that situation is a mess with McCoy expected to have some time in the backfield. I wouldn’t mess iwth it with those options.

    • Fantasy girl xoxo says:
      (link)

shoot… I guess Jennings is out of the question. Didn’t realize he was playing already!

  8. William Hung says:
    (link)

I really thought I caught a break with my RB situation when Jennings was dropped last month – looks like I was the fool to use the waiver on him. What a joke – looks like I’ll have a mess on my hands week 9 when both Jeremy Hill and Matt Jones are on BYE and all I have are Jennings and Knile Davis… hopefully I can snatch up an injury fill in RB

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@William Hung: I actually think Jennings will be okay. I liked what I saw from him before the injury, but right now, he’s solid depth if nothing else.

      • William Hung says:
        (link)

@Jay: You think they are limiting before the BYE and so in Week 9 he’ll be getting 15-20 touches? I need THAT to happen soooo bad but I don’t know if I can take that “risk”

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@William Hung: Yeah, I think so. They love him more than I do, or else Darkwa would already have the job.

          • William Hung says:
            (link)

@Jay: Yeah, it seems like his snap count is like 90% in the 2nd half

            • William Hung says:
              (link)

@William Hung: and now a TD! Too bad he’s on my bench – hopefully Matt Jones and Jeremy Hill outscore him so I don’t look bad

  9. Allan says:
    (link)

    Jay,
Got Palmer and Bradford at qb. Drop one to play Flacco today? If so which one and if not which to play? Thanks.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Allan: It’s not a huge difference, but if you are, Bradford is the drop for Flacco. It’s two spots higher though, so not a big gap.

      • Allan says:
        (link)

@Jay: Thanks. Got Gillislee, Mike Davis, and Ryan Mathews as options for rb2. Was leaning Gillislee but with McCoy active not sure now. Hate Mathews match up and Davis could get vultured by his qb. Also does he split carries with Draughn?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Allan: I think he does. Hate to say it, but probably Mathews here.

          • Allan says:
            (link)

@Jay: Oh and it’s ppr if that makes a difference.

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

              @Allan: not much unfortunately

  10. Jay

    Jay says:
    (link)

Note: I just updated the rankings after catching up on all the news.

  11. William Hung says:
    (link)

It came down to Arian Foster or Knile Davis and since Foster is on BYE next week, he was dropped in favor of Cameron Brate as a 1 week fill in. Looks like I’ll have to see if he becomes a FA

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@William Hung: sounds good. You have to play like it’s your last week anyhow.

  12. What's a Drexl? says:

20 team PPR have jeffrey/both SF/BAL’s smiths/wheaton/m.lee. drop wheaton for any of strong/shorts/a.wilson/hunter.

    2. different league. 12 team PPR, start 2 RB/2 WR/1 flex have
    RB gurley/cj anderson/booker/d.lewis/lat murray/hill/yeldon
    WR j.matthews/meredith/green/landry
    TE doyle/eifert
drop which RB for which of woods/s.smith?

      • What's a Drexl? says:
        (link)

@Jay: in the 20 teamer drop wheaton for any of strong/shorts/a.wilson/hunter?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@What’s a Drexl?: I’d hold here I think. I kjida like Wheaton in deep leagues.

  13. Will says:
    (link)

I’ve got to choose 2 RB’s between these scrubs! (Bad week to have Zeke on bye) Who would you start?
    Forte
    Tevin Coleman
    Jamaal Charles
    Gillislee

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Will: probably Forte and Charles.

      @Jay: Back!

  15. William Hung says:
    (link)

Can someone please tell the Giants CS to watch tape of how the Packers run their offense with a subpar running game? Why is Eli bombing the ball downfield on 3rd and 1? That’s like prime WR/TE crossing or Rashad out of the back field check down there

      • Chicken Dinner says:
        (link)

@Jay: Why didn’t they try to take advantage on the CONSTANT single coverage on Beckham. They were giving him 8-12 yards on just about every play.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Chicken Dinner: yup, pretty sure that is the doodoo part

  16. garleezy says:
    (link)

    Jay DOg,

Martellus, Jamaal, or Forte STANDARD league

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@garleezy: tough one, feeling Charles here for upside, Forte for floor.

  17. Pete says:
    (link)

In PPR do I go McCoy, Gillislee, Ryan Mathews. or Powell?

    • Pete says:
      (link)

@Pete: And in another league, would you consider going Zenner over Gillislee in PPR? Would need to dump Knile Davis.

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

        @Pete: Yeah, Zenner seems safer.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Pete: Leaning Mathews, but I don’t like it.

  18. Dave says:
    (link)

Gio Bernard, CJ Anderson, Tyler Eifert need to pick two out of 3 in PPR?

Jmatt, Pryor, Desean Jackson need to pick one of 3 also PPR?

    Thanks Jay!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Dave: CJA and Gio I think. And probably Matthews.

  19. MiggY Cat says:
    (link)

    .5 PPR

    Diggs baby vs Phlly

    Or

    Pryor love vs Cincy.

    Please and Thank you

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@MiggY Cat: leaning Diggs there. NP!

  20. the imp says:
    (link)

    Bills making their RB3 inactive.
Who would you start with that news McCoy or Gio in PPR?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@the imp: Maybe McCoy now… interesting news. I’m nervous here though.

      • The imp says:
        (link)

@Jay: yeah … espn bills reporter now saying he doesn’t look very good. With Eifert’s risk already in my lineup already I’m going to probably go for Gio’s….we will see if there is any other news…

  21. What's a Drexl? says:
    (link)

i see gillislee above mccoy but was that before or after his snap count news? i.e. gillislee or mccoy?

    • What's a Drexl? says:
      (link)

@What’s a Drexl?: also, in standard, gillislee or ivory? it appears nobody has adjusted rankings based on how little yeldon is being used when compared to ivory.

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

@What’s a Drexl?: I honestly think it’s 60/40 Ivory. Not a great option either way.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@What’s a Drexl?: After snap count news, or it should be. I’m nervous with the situation though. Probably leaning Gill still though, really not confident about it.

  22. Principal Blackman says:
    (link)

Hey, Jay, I have a running back conundrum. 1/2 PPR. Deep league.

I need to pick one to start out of Latavius Murray, DeAndre Washington, Chris Thompson, Zach Zenner.

I was leaning Washington until I heard that Murray is active, now I’m not sure. Zenner maybe?

  23. Charles says:
    (link)

    Gillislee or Latavius?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Charles: Latty, but real close.

  24. Pete says:
    (link)

who’s the better dump – Knile Davis, Powell or Jennings to grab Zenner in PPR?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Pete: Davis out of that group.

  25. garleezy says:
    (link)

    Hey Jay,

    shady or matt jnes PPR?

  26. bobbo says:
    (link)

Hope you’re having a good afternoon Jay, need some help with my dumpster fire of a RB situation:

10-team PPR, need to start 2:

Forte, McCoy, Mike Davis, Latavius Murray, Powell, Ivory, (Zenner on the wire)

(Also, starting Julie, Larry Fitz, and Crabtree… have Michael Thomas on the bench)

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@bobbo: You too man! I’d go with Forte and McCoy… tough decision here, because Murray is around the same area as Shady.

      • bobbo says:
        (link)

@Jay: Thanks! I was leaning Mike Davis as a “safer” option but who knows what Chip Kelly will do. If the Bills are making their RB3 inactive then I guess the McCoy injury might not be that bad

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@bobbo: Yeah, I’m still nervous, but that’s what I’m thinking too.

  27. MiggY Cat says:
    (link)

    One more my man.

    Zenner vs Wash

    Or

    Sproles vs Minny

    .5ppr

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@MiggY Cat: Going Zenner there, close though.

  28. Saints says:
    (link)

Woul you start eifert or Gates ?
I’m worried about eiferts snap count

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

Me too, probably going Gates there. Nervous though.

  29. Nightpandas says:
    (link)

    Hey Jay ,

Would you move Dez for Gio and Edelman? I can keep one wr at the end of the season, it would have been Dez or Cooper.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Nightpandas: Yeah, I like that deal for you in that context.

  30. Mantis Toboggan MD says:
    (link)

yeah, i’m happy my 10th waiver netted me hill and started him this week (easy decision over yeldon or lat murray) as our asinine league makes over 3 FULL days on trades, so i didn’t get to use gurley this week, and had crabtree on bench with meredith/landry/green starting.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Mantis Toboggan MD: Yeah, I seriously had no clue why he would be dropped like that. At worst, he’s a solid bench option.

  31. William Hung says:
    (link)

Can’t have nice things – if Knile Davis doesn’t get touches next week I’m screwed cause I have only 1 RB in Jeremy Hill. Thanks Matt Jones!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@William Hung: Hill had a good day so far though, so there’s that.

      • William Hung says:
        (link)

@Jay: yeah but I need to start 2 RBs and a FLEX and @ this point I can imagine Matt Jones being FLEX at best cause you never know what you’ll get from him

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@William Hung: Same could be said of Wash too. That team is weird.

          • William Hung says:
            (link)

@Jay: is Jones considered a drop or do I have to start him next week? My only other RBs are on Bye

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@William Hung: Probably a start judging on what’s been on the wire in your league.

  32. Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
    (link)

jebus, maybe we do have this year’s freeman, the guy you’ve had stashed (2 weeks in freeman’s case, about 5 in ajayi’s), seen him not be any good, drop him since he’s yr worst RB and then he goes nuts 2 weeks in a row. and since when is MIA smart enough to give carries to RB’s anyway? i’m not only referencing l.miller here, as they didn’t do this any week before last week this year either.

    • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
      (link)

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: last year r.jennings could’ve been the drop in most important league rather than freeman, this year it could’ve been yeldon (albeit ivory still hadn’t done anything and it’s pretty obvious yeldon appeared to have more ROS value than ajayi once arian nation got back) instead of ajayi. rankings all said yeldon was kept though.

    • William Hung says:
      (link)

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: extremely frustrating cause there was zero indication from the coaching staff they were giving Ajayi looks 3 weeks ago and now I’m dying at the RB position cause I decided to roll with Matt Jones – yet another back breaking move on my part

      • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
        (link)

@William Hung: they actually did start giving him carries that he did almost nothing with (13/42) 2 weeks ago, this being after coaching staff called themselves idiots for using 3-4 RB’s for weeks before that. so this wasn’t just a role change that showed up. like freeman in weeks 1 and 2 last year, he wasn’t doing anything with those carries.
