After several weeks of boring stinkers on Thursday Night Football, we got our second week in a row with an exciting Thursday Night Football game! Just like last week, it didn’t look that way in the first half. The first half should have had more scoring, but we had a fumble, and interception and 2 turnovers on downs. The Chargers had 2 drives where they had 1st and goal from the KC 5-yard line and could not put points on the board. They still went into the half with a lead, but the score was only 14-10 and we were missing the fireworks we expected from 2 of the best teams in the AFC. The second half delivered though. We saw Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert go toe to toe with big plays and touchdown drives including an exciting back and forth 4th quarter. The Chiefs were able to pull off a huge divisional road win in overtime with a 34-28 final over the Chargers.

Congratulations! If you are reading this, you have either reached the playoffs or are married to me and are forced to read this article every single week even though you do not even watch football. Let us focus on you the fantasy football playoff contender and not my wife, the patient and selfless backbone of this humble fantasy analyst. So, you’ve made it and chances are your roster is already nicely filled out and ready to compete. If not though, I will still be here for the next three weeks helping you fill-in holes or blocking your league mates from doing the same. Even Rocky needed Mick after he won the title, James Bond needed Q, and Crash Davis needed Annie Savoy who seriously, let us talk for a second: Annie Savoy? Chef’s Kiss! Anyways, congrats again on making it to the playoffs. Now let’s go!

The Fantasy Football playoffs are fast-approaching. These next few waiver weeks are critical. Some managers have likely lost interest, but that doesn’t mean throw out $1 bids. It’s a good idea to investigate the fab of the other contending teams and adjust accordingly. Guessing another manager’s bids can be a fool’s errand, but you never know what you might learn along the way. If you want a player, pay up to get them. There is no use hoarding a huge fab budget; December is buying time.

It is the final week of the regular season. Did your letter from Hogwarts arrive? Did a painted blue key mysteriously appear on your coffee table? I am trying to ask if you’ve made the playoffs. Well, I hope so and I hope this weekly column has assisted you along the way. With the playoffs just a week away, it is time to make secure decisions for your team. Handcuff those running backs and look past a single week outlook. The playoff semifinals and finals matchups should carry a great deal of weight with your waiver decisions, especially if you’ve already secured a bye.

Last week’s waiver wire offered a cornucopia of claims to eat up. Unfortunately, this week’s waiver wire is less fruitful. However, I have found what might be a few treats at Runningback, a starchy Quarterback, and some high-calorie Wide Receivers. The pickings may be meager, but they offer solid sustenance. Dig in!

Is it me or are a lot of guys injured? Normally, I’d have some little cutsie intro to get into the carnage but sheesh, man! I don’t know about you but I’m getting killed out here! I actually sprained my right knee on a fishing boat last weekend and was listed as limited but here I am, dammit.
When I see the players I roster in person someday, I’m gonna tell them: If I can man up and type up a bunch of nonsense about fake football with a ligament injury, well then YOU GOTTA PLAY TOO, YOU BIG BABY!
As you can tell, this has been a tough week. Between my injury, all the injuries on my fantasy teams, and what’s happening to my Raiders… Well, we’ll get into that last part later.
And to add to the prevailing roster chaos we have our first bye week of the year! See you next week Jets, Falcons, 49ers, and Saints!

Fantasy draft day and week 1 of the NFL season rival the childhood joys of waking up on Christmas morning or the first day of summer break. Fans are back in the stands, football is back and week 1 lived up to the hype.
It is important we do not overreact to the small sample size of week 1. Taking inventory of target trends is a critical tool to help with lineup decisions as the season progresses. Keep in mind, knowing target share (TS) trends can help provide a framework for buy-low and sell high trade candidates. Every Wednesday I will provide you with a weekly target report, highlighting key TS data and takeaways from the weekend.

Nothing matters but the path ahead so a few players jumped up because of their schedule. Additionally guys who are currently injured might as well be off the list, although some are straggling around like Kenny Golladay, but there is no guarantee he’ll suit up for our fantasy teams.
This list is not league or format specific, but it is based on 2020 rest-of-season projection only. When thinking through tiers and rankings I asked myself simply – “all things considered who would I rather have on my roster?”
