Opening the week as the highest over/under of the season at 55.5, HOU @ KC now sits as the tied-for-2nd highest point total in 2019 at 55. A clash between offenses that rank #4 (KC) and #9 in points per game. Poorly buried by the NFL in the early slate of games, everyone get their popcorn ready early this Sunday. Both teams rank in the top 10 in total offensive plays ran this season, #3 KC and #8 HOU, and find their way onto this weeks shootout game preview.

Another week, another slew of injuries impacting the NFL landscape. We saw two starting QB’s go down last week, continuing the trend of backups getting the start for an extended period of time. For other teams, they saw their backs and receivers exit Week 4 with varying degrees of seriousness.

Let’s talk about some of the players who landed on the injury report this week.

While it still is early into the 2019 NFL season, we are getting more clarity with which teams are actually good or bad on either side of the ball. With more and more clarity, we can make better and better fantasy decisions with how we should manage or rosters. Who we should start, and who we should sit.

So let’s talk about that very subject.

When P&E came into my clinic today I rushed them into my office and closed the door. “Let’s get right down to business” I said, opening up their chart. “The bye week was not kind to you” I mourned as their faces dropped.

“But how?! No one played a game for us!” I had to gently explain that even though their fantasy team was on bye, the real NFL players still had to suit up. Devin Singletary once again showed his incredible efficiency scoring 11.7 fantasy points on just 6 touches. Unfortunately this performance was wasted on the bye week and what’s worse is that he pulled up lame with a hamstring.

P&E came into the office today for a checkup and I am pleased to report excellent progress with a Week 1 victory!

They got exactly what the doctor ordered, and without a doubt the biggest development was Sammy Watkins. He turned in a historical performance, carrying P&E to an easy victory. Now with Tyreek Hill shelved for a while this team has 2 top 10 WRs to go along with Travis Kelce and Brandin Cooks. What’s more is that Devin Singletary played 70% of Buffalo’s snaps and looks to be one of the first late round RB darts to hit.

There is not much going on after one week of the regular season. All we really know so far is that with all the player safety concerns over head injuries and leg injuries don’t compare to the danger of collarbones. We have to hope they don’t try to legislate these hits out as well. Otherwise it will really turn into flag football. With all this being said, you should really not want to make any trades after Week 1. But if you do, or if someone in your league is panicking, here are some players you might want to grab cheap or sell high.

The sun rises over the majestic mountain range, illuminating the frost into countless diamonds. The air is crisp and clean and there is motion all around your tent. The energy is palpable and you take a deep breath, stepping into the cold morning. The warm scent of freshly brewed coffee drifts into your nostrils as I jam a loaded backpack in your gut and tell you you’re the last one up. “Breakfast is over, make sure you wear double socks” I say, strapping a ladder to a sleeping bag.

Don’t worry, this is how week 1 feels for most of us. All the anticipation, planning, and training doesn’t mean a thing once you head out on the trail. Week 1 was full of rookie WRs making a statement despite limited preseason buzz. Conversely, exciting rookie running backs flopped and split time, leaving managers rattled as we look forward to week 2. There was expected carnage, although congrats to the half of you that walked away 1-0.
