Lots of cuts came down the pipe, but for all the crazy hub-bub they caused, none seemed that insane.  All I know is that we are so close to football I can taste it!!  Maybe because I am gnawing on a football, but that’s neither here no there.  Well, it is here, because I am gnawing on it while writing, but it for sure isn’t there, because that’s over there, not here.  Well, you get the picture.  I just had two auction drafts.  One 14 teamer with some Razzballians and another 16 teamer with IDP.  So I drafted for 7 hours today.  It’s amazing I can still count to 3 without help.

Here are a few tidbits from around the league —

Matt Leinart: He got his wish; he will not be backing up Derek Anderson. The Texans are looking into kicking him in the tires and then letting him go.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh: He was cut.  Carroll is moving on, and fast.  He could end up with the Raiders or the Redskins.  Both would probably still put him in a low end WR slot for PPR leagues, so don’t drop him for nothing.

Justin Forsett: Julius Jones was released from the Seahawks so there isn’t as much holding Forsett back now.  Leon Washington will be splitting carries with him, but he will also be returning kicks and punts (take note return yardage leaguers), so I see Forsett getting at least over half of the work.  This helps those of you who got him early and watched his stock plummet!  It’s back baby!

Vincent Jackson: He now is out at least 6 weeks of the season.  I’m just avoiding him completely in drafts.  He’s not worth the headache.

Patrick Crayton: He’s a Charger now.  With no VJax he should be getting significant time, but I only see him as the #3 receiver and with Gates and Sproles that puts him down in the pecking order. He’ll have to show me something before I invest in him.

Mike Williams: Big Mike Williams or BMW as I like to call him is now the #1 receiver in Seattle.  It also doesn’t look like a Vincent Jackson deal will get done, so he is worth picking up in 12 team leagues.  The #1 designation is one I am giving him because Deion Branch is brittle.  Williams is a risky pick, but Hass has been hooking up with him during the preseason and there really isn’t anyone else to throw to.  The Seahawks are going to suck.

Darrelle Revis: Adam Schefter reports that Revis has agreed to a deal for ONE BILLION dollars (or thereabouts).  So start benching your #1 receivers who charter a plane to Revis Island.  The biggest impact for us fake footballers is when our receivers go up against him and if you reached to draft them.

Percy Harvin: He won’t be returning punts (Camarillo and Berrian will), but he will be returning kicks and will be the #1 receiver.  If you are in a return yardage league, you have to be looking at him lustily.  He could have a huge season.

Stephan Logan: Some more return yardage league news.  Logan was let go by the Steelers and picked up by the Lions who should use him in the return game, while Antonio Brown should take over return duty for the Steelers.

Max Hall: All reports are that Hall was the best QB in Cardinals camp this preseason.  That’s not huge praise with his competition, but if you are in a crazy QB starting league, he is worth keeping an eye on.  There is a decent chance he will get a chance this season. And if you are in a dynasty league, he’s worth a flier.
