The civilians that don’t live inside a fantasy football bubble 365 days per year are revving up for their draft season so it’s time for a rankings post! We don’t make a draft kit sort of thing, we want you to come see us at the site. Here you are now! Hello. Just because we don’t make a draft kit doesn’t mean I can’t give you draft rankings to read, laugh at, or use as a bad beer coaster if you print them out on regular printer paper.

If you read my positional rankings throughout July and then look at the rankings that you’re about to look at, you’ll notice some slight differences. You may even notice some big differences. The preseason has a way of shaking things up whether there are injuries, unexpected big or disappointing performances, or a change in coaching philosophy (I’m looking at you, Andy Reid). The rankings posts are still very useful because of the stats and tidbits that go along with them, but it’s time for my draft rankings to mold into their (almost) final form. Enjoy!

Thoughts on taking James Conner at 6 overall if the top running backs are gone? Half PPR with 10 teams…

I believe that I’ve done it this year. Usually my strategy is good RB in the first and he’s the next best after DJ. Yes.

I see you are all in on Mayfield this year! And anti-Big Ben!

I’m in a superflex league so doing some extra QB homework this year.

Do you think your PPR top 150 will be out today or tomorrow? I draft on Friday.

    Thanks and good luck!

Haha correct on both. I’m just doing .5, jays are coming out tomorrow and he may have PPR, but I did PPR for positional rankings if you want to check those out

Love the rankings dude – thank you for this. I was wondering if I can pick your mind for a keeper question. It’s a 12 team PPR SUPERFLEX league with 6 point passing TD’s and a $235 dollar budget. I can keep 2 guys. Which 2 do you choose?

Patrick Mahomes $11 (my lock for one keeper)
    Baker Mayfield $11
    CMAC $81
    Kerryon Johnson $21

Baker is mighty tempting but I feel like I can get my second QB cheap (since QB is so deep this year) which has me leaning CMAC (lock up the #1 in my eyes) or Kerryon (dirt cheap for an RB1)

I appreciate your thoughts if you have any

I almost agree with you BUT, what if you kept Baker for 11 when he will probably go for more. I doubt CMac will go for more than 81 if you really want him back. With two top tier quarterbacks and 213 dollars, the world is your oyster for the rest of the draft. I should know first, what did Gurley go for last year?

      • Paul says:
        (link)

Gurley was kept so the most expensive guy last year was Saquon at 77. I’m thinking it wouldn’t cost me more than 80-85 to acquire either of Gurley or CMAC (both are back in the pool). So it’s either Baker for 11 (when QB is so deep this year) or Kerryon for 21 (probably a 20-25 discount?)

Yeah man. Can’t go wrong with either. Kerryon might end up being the bigger discount but I sure love Baker

Fournette way down the list. You know something everyone else does not?

3.3 ypc and a bunch of DNPs in 2018. Not sold

      • Ferris says:
        (link)

I hear the caution, but does anyone remember Gurley’s pedestrian 2016. I remember everyone passed on him til the 3rd round, then POW he went off. Fournette’s 2018 numbers are not far off, maybe even better considering the injuries he had. Just saying. Putting him down by Ingram is too low.

Of course! But Sean McVay isn’t walking through those doors anytime soon. There’s an argument both ways but I can make an argument for every running back that I ranked ahead of him as well. I still have him as a solid RB2 in 12 team leagues. I just don’t foresee him being a breakout

  6. Keeperpickins says:
    (link)

I think I might have asked this question a few weeks ago, but I have to pick keepers now and figured I’d see if anything has changed.

Standard league format (1QB, 2RB, 2WR, TE, WR/RB, K, D/ST), 12 teams. No PPR. I can keep up to 2 from last year. Final roster was:
    QB: Roethlisberger, Brady
RB: McCaffery, Gordon, Damien Williams, Ballage, McGuire, Ware
WR: Hilton, Mike Williams, John Brown, Pettis
    TE: Cook

McCaffery is obviously keeper 1. Do you keep TY or Gordon, or let them go? If I only keep McCaffery, I get a 2nd round pick. If I keep 2 players, I’d start in round 3. Based on your rankings, TY would be an early round 3 pick, and Gordon who the hell knows. So tossup for me.

Yeah I remember this one, I’d just keep McCaffrey still

  7. Pimmer says:

Keeper league question. 12 team 0.5ppr. Can keep two, no penalties.
    Currently keeping Saquon.
Choose one of Mahomes, D. Cook, Chubb, or Diggs
Something to keep in mind, no 5th or 6th round picks due to trades. 4 points per pass td, 6 per rush.

Leaning Cook or Chubb, but not sure what is more worrisome, Cook’s injury history or the presence of Hunt during playoff season. Do you see that as a similar backfield to what we’ve seen in New Orleans?

    Thanks!

It’s definitely Chubb for me, the departure of Duke Johnson should provide enough assurance. I doubt Hunt takes much work from Chubb other than change of pace.

      • Pimmer says:
        (link)

        Thanks MB!

Although I’m a little surprised since you have Cook ranked ahead of Chubb in your 0.5ppr rankings.

Either way, thanks for the advice, definitely leaning Chubb at the moment.

Haha, I try not to suggest risky things. Cook could finish as RB1 or play 8 games. I suppose anyone could get hurt really, but I love Cleveland’s offense. If you want to assume the risk I guess it’s Cook.

  8. RICE says:

    Hey MB!

    10 Team / H2H / 0.5 PPR / 1 keeper per team

I’m drafting tomorrow and have the 6th pick with 10 keepers already off the board (8 RBs / 1 WR / 1TE). Depending on what happens in the 5 picks ahead of me, I’ll have two paths to take. The two likely outcomes are below. If I have the option to take either, which to you like better… and is it close?

Off the board: McCaffrey, Saquon, Kamara, Hopkins, Elliott, Le’Veon, Kelce, Cook, Gurley, Freeman

    My Keeper: Dalvin Cook

Path 1 (RB in round 1)
    Dalvin Cook
Joe Mixon (maybe Conner if he falls)
    Aaron Jones
    Robert Woods
Chris Godwin (or Kupp if Godwin is gone)

Path 2 (WR in round 1)
    Dalvin Cook
    OBJ
    Aaron Jones
    Chris Carson
Chris Godwin (or Kupp if Godwin is gone)
