Congrats to uppower and scollum for winning their leagues and 45 cash dollars. This week there are some nice matchups, so my teams may have quite a bit of diversity, but here is my first shot at a team.  Take me on in any of these leagues — League 1, League 2, and League 3. If you are new to FanDuel and sign up through this link you’ll get some bonus cash, FYI.

QB Jon Kitna: The Lions pass defense isn’t Houston bad, but it’s still not great and Kitna to Dez Bryant is starting to heat up.  Do you remember Randy Moss’ rookie year?  Dez has that ability and Kitna is locking in on him.  It might lead to some interceptions, but it will also lead to TDs and they offset interceptions by a lot.  Kitna of this week is my Garrard of last week.

RB Peyton Hillis: The dude is bad ass.  He also gets the Jags who are near the bottom in most rush D categories.  He is pretty much the Browns whole offense and I don’t see him not scoring this week.

RB Frank Gore: The Buccaneers are an elitely horrible run defense.  They give up 5.1 yards per carry and 133.6 yards per game, which is 1 and 2 on the craptastic scale.  Gore is the most targeted running back in the league and hardly comes off the field.  The matchup is just too good to pass on.

WR Santonio Holmes: It really doesn’t matter who is going against Houston, they will pass and pass well and Holmes is now the #1 receiver.  They give up an average of 27 fantasy points to wide receivers and Holmes should get a big chunk of that.

WR Pierre Garcon: I feel very good about Peyton Manning having a good game in New England and Garcon has been in a bit of a slump which has lowered his FanDuel price and primed him for a good game.

WR Calvin Johnson: Megatron is Megatron and the Dallas pass defense is megacrappy.  This game should be a shootout.

TE Dustin Keller: Houston has given up the most yards and the second most touchdowns to tight ends. Keller should get back on track this week.

K Billy Cundiff: A kicker.

D Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens are overpriced for how good their defense is right now, but they should get better against the Panthers who have averaged 11 points per game, which is awfully awful.

  1. Penguin says:

So I have an interesting predicament.

I’ve been offered the following trade: (Bowe or Wallace) and (S. Moss or Lance Moore) for Schaub (I’m giving up Schaub). My opponent’s desperate for a steady QB.

On the surface, it looks like an easy choice since either combination puts up *way* more points combined than Schaub alone (I have Roethlisberger as my backup), but I already have DeSean Jackson, Mike Williams (TB), Sidney Rice, Welker, and MSW for 3 WR spots.

Even if I was to take Bowe and Moss (the pair I believe I’d prefer), it seems like Moss would just sit on my bench and I’d be giving up Schaub for Bowe 1-to-1 (barring injury), which is questionably an okay move anyway.

My thinking says that Schaub and Roth will put up similar numbers from here on out (just with Schaub having more possible upside), and Bowe would be a pretty damn nice #2 receiver to give me a corps of DJax/Bowe/MWillTB, so I’m leaning towards doing the deal anyway.

So, in that situation, would you do the deal for Bowe/Moss? Or would you prefer a different combo?

  2. Matt Leinart says:

What do you think of this one: my Wallace and Moreno for McFadden?

We play 2 RB, 3 WR and a flex.

My lineup now is MJD, Bradshaw, Megatron, Wallace, Marshall, Moreno (TJones, TB Williams, Sims-Walker on the bench).

My lineup then would be MJD, Bradshaw, McFadden, Mega, Marshall, TB Williams.

What it boils down to is this: would you rather have McFadden + TB Williams or Wallace + Moreno?

  3. Matt Leinart says:

Regarding trade possibility in post number 2, it’s worth noting that McFadden gets Jax, Denver and Indy for our playoffs.

  4. cfaris09 says:

just got offered Andre Johnson for Peyton Hillis in a TD-heavy league. My lineup would look something like this if I accepted:

    QB: Vick, Schaub
    RB: Rice
    RB: Blount
    WR: A. Johnson
    WR: Bryant
    Flex options:
Miles, Bowe, Colston, Manningham, P. Thomas, Keiland

I am pretty deep at receiver, but I don’t know if I should pass this up or not or counter with something else. Help me pleeeease!

  5. Commish Cauda says:

12-team, 0.5ppr, bonuses for long TDs

    Who to start this week?

    James Jones @MIN
    Brandon Marshall vsCHI

  6. Wilsonian says:

@cfaris09: not sure what to counter with, but you need Hillis more than you need Andre. Just my $0.02. If you do that, you have TONS of talent on your bench at WR, but have VERY VERY VERY little at RB and would be banking on Blount to blow up. Not a good trade for you, in my mind.

  7. 24hourjack says:

    non PPR league(2 WR,2 RB,1 WR/RB)-heres my roster….

    WR-Reggie Wayne,Dez Bryant,Percy Harvin,Mike Williams(TB),Johnny Knox,Vincent Jackson

    RB-LeSean McCoy,LeGarette Blount,Thomas Jones,Willis McGahee

and so….my question is,would you give up Harvin straight up for Knowshon Moreno?….would you give up MORE than just Harvin?….

    I like Shady and Blount,but I’d feel a lot more comfortable w/ one more no.1 RB….

I would appreciate as mich feedback from EVERYONE….thnks.

  8. 24hourjack says:

“as MUCH feedback as possible from everyone”

  9. Matt Leinart says:

Moreno is pretty promising. He looks to be healthy, and his playoff schedule (weeks 14-16) looks great. He’s @ Ari, @ Oak, Hou during those weeks, and all 3 of those defenses have been very generous to opposing RBs.

I would certainly give up Harvin. I would also be willing to toss in Jones or McGahee to get a deal done.

I have a Moreno deal cooking in post #2 as well. What do you think of that one?

  10. Harley says:

@ Doc: Would you drop Steve Smith (Car) to pick up Santonio Holmes? .5 ppr league

  11. Big Nate says:

Need some help for my team that is battling for the wildcard spot. Start 2 RB’s and 3 WR’s and here’s the lineup:

    Cutler / Hill / Fitzpatrick
    Greene / LDT
    NYG Smith / Ward
    Bess / Armstrong

With the loss of Smith and potentially Ward we need some emergency help at WR. Given the fact that I need to essentially win out, I’m dangling CJ2K and was just offered both Bradshaw and Jennings. Do I make the deal?

  12. Nick says:

@Doc: Hey Doc, so someone in my 10-team league just dropped V Jax! Grab him and drop McNabb (I have Vick/BigBen)?

  13. stumanji says:

@Nick: Yes. No need to carry 3 QBs in a 10 team league.

  14. brad says:

    Matt Ryan or Shaun Hill?

Pick two: Foster (@NYJ), Bradshaw (@Phi), Rice (@Car)

Pick one: Floyd (Den), Colston (Sea), Williams TB (@SF), Megatron, Bowe

    I’m thinking

    Foster, Rice
    Megatron, Bowe, Colston

  15. timmy riggins says:

Whod you choose as WR3 and flex (.5ppr)…..thanks

WR3 – Holmes or Crabtree – im leaning towards holmes bc of the matchup
Flex – holmes, crabtree, felix and thomas jones, BJGE, woodhead – leaning towards crabtree/holmes, felix jones (vs det) and bjge

  16. Joel says:

Doc, this week, Bears D @ Miami or Chiefs home vs. AZ? For some reason, I’m leaning Bears vs Thigpen and a short week (maybe its cause I want to have someone in the game tomorrow night:))

  17. Jim says:

    Hey Doc,

Which two players would you start this week?

    Mike Williams (TB) @ SF
    Ray Rice @ Carolina
    Nate Washington vs. Washington

  18. Chris says:

5-5 and fighting for my playoff life…with absolutely no idea who to play at WR.

Pick 2 (no flex): Austin v DET, Marshall v CHI, S Johnson @ CIN, Manningham @ PHI.

The only one I really WANT to play is Manningham…and he’s probably as risky as the rest…quality WRs but wildly inconsistent (besides Johnson before last week, when of course I played him).

  19. Chris says:

    ^^ +1 PPR

  20. Doc

    Doc says:

    @Harley: I would

@Big Nate: Interesting dilemma. Since you need to win out I could see making this trade. I think Ward will be back, but Smith isn’t going to help you.

@24hourjack: I’d give up harvin and a bench player for him.

    @Commish Cauda: Marshall

@cfaris09: It would be a good trade if you were deeper at RB. The only way I would do it is if you could get another RB in the deal.

@Matt Leinart: I’d go for DMC unless you need to win badly this week.

@Penguin: I could see doing it, but I think I’d want the security of having both QBs more.

  21. Doc

    Doc says:

**** Schefter is saying the Panthers are THINKING about shutting Deangelo Williams for the year. Stewart would be the starter if healthy. Goodson if he’s not. ****

  22. Doc

    Doc says:

    @Nick: Yeah

@brad: That’s my thinking as well

    @timmy riggins: Holmes and Jones

@Joel: I could see that. I think they have more possible upside, but KC is safer.

    @Jim: Williams/Rice

@Chris: I’m leaning Marshall and Manningham, but that is very close. Marshall is a wildcard with Thigpen in there. I’m worried that teams are now focusing on Johnson more. Austin looks like the #2 receiver with Kitna in there.

  23. Chris says:

Marshall/Manningham is probably what I’ll go with, though it’s a scary duo in terms of bust potential for this week. Gotta play with what I’ve got…

Mike Williams (SEA) and Garcon (just dropped) are on the wire…would picking up either of these guys for S Johnson be a smart move? Would either crack the starting lineup if so?

  24. stumanji says:

    Deangelo is on IR.

  25. charlie batch says:

rob gronkowski is on FA, and I have chris cooley. Whod you rather have in PPR?

  26. charlie batch says:

also, BJax or felix jones this wk, in ppr?

  27. Doc

    Doc says:

@charlie batch: I’d go with Felix and stick with Cooley. I am starting to worry about Gronk. BB could do anything there.

@stumanji: Yep, everyone feel free to drop DWilly.

@Chris: I’d stick with Steve. He may be able to take the extra coverage.

  28. Hennessey says:

Which “top” Defenses do you think have the most favorable overall matchups from weeks 14-17?

I’m a lock for the playoffs and my current D (Giants) has some tough playoff matchups. I’d like to get a top D with good matchups in the playoffs (probably by trade).

I was thinking maybe going after the Steelers, with their last 4 games in order being against the Bengals, Jets, Panthers, and Browns.

I’m not going to overpay for a defense, of course, but the guy who owns the Steelers is weak at WR, and I own Wayne, Nicks, Bowe, VJax, and Sims-Walker.

I’m going to offer Sims-Walker straight up for the Steelers, but if he counters wanting Bowe instead should I still do it?

  29. friar says:

I’ve been offered LT for Bowe. My team could really use an upgrade at RB (I have McCoy, Torain, BGE, and Keiland Williams), but I’m worried about LT going forward; he seems to be slowing down and Greene has been getting more involved. I can afford to give up Bowe if it truly upgrades my RB situation, since I’ve got some decent WR depth (AJ, Austin, Bowe, Washington, Smith (CAR) – we start 2 RB, 2 WR, and a flex, so I’ve been using 3 WR most weeks but could switch to using just 2). The other guy also has Rice, Bradshaw, and Moreno, so I’m thinking of making a counter-proposal.

Of those four running backs (Rice, Bradshaw, Moreno, and LT), how would you rank them going forward, and which of them is the minimum I should insist on getting in exchange for Bowe?

  30. Trevor

    Tggq21 says:

Whats up doc… Survivor league topic again.. (i know you love these)

Which team are you more comfortable in winning this week?

    Dallas over Detroit
    Atlanta (at) and over Stlouie
    SanDiego over denver
    Jets over Texans
    or Steelers over Oakland

full disclosure… i know you suck at these but you helped me picking minnesota the other week even though they almost lost and went into OT. haha

  31. Joel says:

Doc: why’s everyone so down on Boldin this week? Is the Carolina pass D THAT good? Would you start him or Buc Williams this week?

  32. charlie batch says:

    @Doc: thank you :)

  33. Doc

    Doc says:

@Hennessey: I could see giving MSW for them, but I wouldn’t want to give Bowe.

@friar: I would try to get Moreno.

  34. Doc

    Doc says:

@Joel: Chris Gamble is tough on #1s. He’s startable for most teams, but I do like Buc a little more against SF.

@Tggq21: If Schaub doesn’t play I like the Jets. But that’s up in the air still. I think I like SD at home as well.

  35. @Doc: Right now I am rostering 3 QB’s Matt Ryan, Shaun Hill, and Jon Kitna. Which of them would you start this weekend? and which two would you keep moving forward? Also what WR would you rather have for the rest of the season? Nate Washington, Don Driver, Louis Murphy, Deion Branch, Gibson, Mason, or Gaffney?

  36. @Doc: Right now I am rostering 3 QB’s Matt Ryan, Jon Kitna, and Shaun Hill. Which one would you start this weekend? and which two would you keep moving forward? Also which WR would you rather have moving forward? Don Driver, Nate Washington, Deion Branch, Louis Murphy, Gaffney, or Nate Burleson

  37. Doc

    Doc says:

@Chicago Mike: I’d go with kitna this week. I would probably go with Ryan/Kitna even though I like Hill’s upside. I think having the dafer Ryan in the mix helps. I would lean Burls.

  38. Joel says:

Doc: I just read that Collie was held out today. talk me off the ledge — theres no way I’m sitting Peyton for Kitna, right? Even though peyton has no one to throw to at the moment with Wayne triple teamed, garcon useless and tamme with a bad back?

  39. Joel says:

along a similar line, I have Arian. if Schaub is out, and the Jets can focus solely on the run, any argument to start Blount or Felix Jones over Arian this week?

  40. HUSK says:

im in a ppr league have some running back and wide receiver issues

wr: roddy white, welker, braylon edwards, garcon, and dez bryant

need one more other than roddy

rb: thomas jones, gore, jacobs, tolbert, and torain

was late and didnt get forte in lineup this week so i need one to pair with frank gore

    your thoughts are much appreciated

  41. Doc

    Doc says:

@HUSK: I like Dez and Tolbert
