Where are you to start Week 12? How are you feeling? How is the squad looking? Are you competing for a playoff spot? What do you need in Week 12 to feel about your playoff spot? Let’s see if there are some names that can help you cross the line from also ran to playoff contender. There are not a lot of injuries to discuss this week but there are six significant byes we need to be aware of. For Week 12 the Falcons, Bills, Bengals, Jaguars, Saints, and Jets will be home watching games. Some players might go into a cave for the week. It looks like Aaron Rodgers could use some time away. All jokes aside, this appears to be the worst bye week for the 2024 season. Good luck filling your roster(s) with viable starters this week.
An additional, small consideration for you, the reader, as you move through my weekly columns is to understand that a waiver article is not a mandate from me to add/drop players each week. Sometimes the best move is the one you do not make. I fully understand that waivers and trades are top of the fun list in fantasy football but remember winning trumps all other fun things in fantasy football. Take the following names as options, considerations for your squad versus must-add players. Only add players when it makes sense for you and your team(s).

WAIVERS:
ADD OF THE WEEK = Anthony Richardson – 48% rostered It looks like TEMU Justin Fields might be worth consideration after his back-and-forth benching/starting. Upon coming back to face the Jets in Week 11, AR15 dropped a cool 31 fantasy points and won the real football game with his legs. Please know Richardson has his bye coming in Week 14 and two unfavorable matchups in Detroit (home Week 12) and at Denver (Week 15). He gets the lackluster Giants, on the road, during most league championship weeks. Something to think about.
QB: Taysom Hill – 54% rostered just had a career game in Week 11. The consensus scoring shows at least 40 in all league formats. I watched him drop 60+ against me in a TE-premium league where he was teamed with Amon-Ra St. Brown’s 40+ to beat my squad that scored the second most points in Week 11. Temper your expectations as I am not sure we have seen Hill do anything close to what he did last week, nor have we seen back-to-back weeks of consistent touches/carries from him this season.
Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:
Bo Nix – 49% rostered (just keeps winning and putting up stats)
Drake Maye – 14% rostered (four of last six weeks with 20+ points; gets the 31st ranked Miami defense this week)
RB: There is not a RB that jumps out to me that should start for you in Week 12 (see below for deeper options).
Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:
Jonathan Brooks – 58% rostered (Chuba has been amazing, and we do not know what we will see from the rookie after 11 weeks on the pine)
Gus Edwards – 27% rostered (started the Week 11 game but was outplayed by Dobbins)
Cam Akers – 17% rostered (TD in Week 11 was nice to see)
WR: Jauan Jennings – 70% rostered. Still available in 30% of leagues and has passed Deebo Samuel on the WR list in my opinion.
Take a deep breath before you read any further. You probably remember this name and may have been burned by him in the past. Your trusty Green Bay Packers writer (me) promises Week 10 may be an aberration. Check that, probably is an aberration. Marquez Valdez-Scantling – 25% rostered has now provided WR1 numbers in two straight weeks. He will probably be ignored since the Saints are on a bye which means you might be able to get him on the cheap this week. The Saints schedule down the stretch is not formidable (LAR, @ NYG, WAS, @GB, LV) so you should give MVS consideration.
Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:
Quentin Johnston – 41% rostered (looks like he has the confidence of Justin Herbert and finds the end zone often enough to be rostered)
Sterling Shepard – 7% rostered (bye week is gone; Bucs have easy schedule; Mike Evans should return moving/keeping Shepard in the slot to fill the Chris Godwin role)
Elijah Moore – 8% rostered (can Jameis make him a fantasy must-own?)
Kayshon Boutte – 4% rostered (if nothing else, the name is fun to say, and Drake Maye likes the kid)
TE: I like what I am seeing from Jonnu Smith – 54% rostered but I do not know if is sustainable with Tyreek/Waddle needing more targets and Achane being the true option #1 for the Miami offense. Add Will Dissly – 24% rostered to your list of potential adds as he is seeing more targets each week and has zero competition at the position for the Chargers.
Remember, you do NOT have to make a move each week. You do not have to force trades. If you look at your roster and a hole does not immediately jump out to you, then maybe your team is good to go for Week 12. If you see a hole (injury, bye, underperformance), then start looking at options to make your team better.
