Well, folks, this is it. Week 14 is the final week for you to make the playoffs in most leagues. With four teams on a bye, you need to ensure your roster does not take any zero point performances based on managerial malfeasance.
The Panthers, 49ers, Giants, and Patriots will wrap up the final group of byes in Week 14. Make sure you cover your roster for that last set of teams to be off. Remember, this week is probably your last chance unless you have an abnormal format or are in a Best Ball league that plays through Week 17-18.
Do not forget the @Razzball NFL team of writers will be hosting our Sunday Morning Start/Sit podcast every week starting three hours before kickoff all the way up to the official start of the early games. Sky – @SkyGuasco, Derek – @Derek_Favret, Jeff @Jefferson__21, Dave @crewswe128 and me/Matt – @stiles08, will be answering all your questions to help you win your weekly matchups. WAIVERS:
ADD OF THE WEEK = Brenton Strange – 33% rostered is proving to be a difference maker at a thin position. While Hunter Henry, George Kittle, and Theo Johnson are on bye, Strange can move the needle for your team. I added him last week and will start him at FLEX in Week 14. I love seeing 14 points as a two-week average from my FLEX position. Strange is not just a bye week filler. He is any every week starter in my opinion.
QB: I like Jacoby Brissett – 61% rostered but his roster percentage means he is not readily available in 50%+ leagues. Look at your waiver names just in case he is still lingering on your wire. The two other names I would consider covering for Drake Maye, Brock Purdy, Jaxson Dart, and Bryce Young are Tyrod Taylor – 4% rostered and Marcus Mariota – 10% rostered. Taylor has a much better matchup.
RB: Blake Corum – 16% rostered is not a name I love posting here, but if we see any issues from the Kyren Williams ankle injury, he is a name we must consider. Corum is coming off a 7-81-1 Week 13 showing and would take over the RB1 role should Williams sit or be limited. It is worthy to note that Williams did return in Week 13 and added a TD in the Rams loss.
Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:
Trey Benson – 64% rostered participated, in a limited practice capacity, in Week 13 but did not suit up leaving Zonovan “Bam” Knight – 26% rostered as the starter in Arizona. Knight is not the second coming of Barry Sanders but with a TD in three straight games, he is clearly being used when it matters. We want volume and Knight is providing that, with scoring potential.
Devin Neal – 57% rostered was added in a ton of leagues but is still available in almost half of the leagues. I love the 17 touches Neal saw in Week 13. He will be at home against the 7th best defensive matchup of the week. If you need a warm body at RB, look at Neal.
Devin Singletary – 22% rostered could be in for a big uptick in touches after the Tyrone Tracy Jr. injury on MNF. Singletary looked to be more explosive and was gaining momentum even prior to Tracy’s injury.
Adonai Mitchell – WR – 3% rostered figured out how to catch the football in Week 13 to the tune of 8-102-1, so we need to make him a consideration with Tyrod Taylor under center. He should be cheap, or possibly free, on your wire.
Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:
Jayden Higgins – 36% rostered has separated as the clear WR2 alongside Nico Collins for the Texans. With C.J. Stroud back at QB, Higgins should continue to thrive in an offense that is clearly challenged in the running aspect of offense.
Alec Pierce – 56% rostered with another TD in Week 13. He will face a vulnerable Jaguars pass defense in Week 14 and should be a FLEX consideration in all formats.
Christian Watson – 54% rostered is proving to be the WR1 in Green Bay as is evident by his team leading 10 targets against Detroit. It is Bears Week for the Packers, so this game should be a fun one to watch. I am banking on Watson being the top target for Jordan Love in this Sunday afternoon tilt.
TE: Evan Engram – 33% rostered was dropped during the Broncos bye week. He was not acquired by many teams in Week 13 mainly because he has underperformed. Week 13 may have changed that trajectory a little as Engram posted his best statistical game of the season. Had he not had two drops, his stat line would be even better. Look for Engram to stay steady down the stretch. If you are unable to land Strange, then Engram is a decent secondary option.
There is no better time to get hot, so work your waiver wire and make the playoffs. You need one more win to get in the playoffs. Once you are in the dance, anything can happen. Keep working to win this thing! There is no need to rush to drop any specific player. Start by looking at your roster to determine if you have an obvious drop candidate. If you do, then move over to your waiver wire. Do not make a move just to make a move.
