Seasons Greetings and all that jazz! And what a gift we have this week. The fantasy football championship is upon us but, unlike most weeks, we’ll only be answering one question. Who should I stream this week, to take me to that fantasy football title?
To keep things simple, we’ll define a streamer as any player you wouldn’t usually start who is a viable option for this week. They may be on your bench or they may be on waivers, depending on your league.
QB Streamers:
Trevor Lawrence (JAC): The Trevor Lawrence emergence is finally here! The former #1 pick has underwhelmed over much of his rookie contract but this month, he’s arrived. Lawrence has put up 75 fantasy points over the last fortnight. That’s despite facing a mid-range Jets defense and a strong Broncos secondary. This week, it gets even better. The Jaguars face a Colts defense that Brock Purdy spanked for five scores and 300-odd yards. He’s a must start in your fantasy final.
Caleb Williams (CHI): He’s appeared hard to trust over the last month, but four consecutive bottom-ten matchups will make any player look mediocre. He’s still a Top 10 quarterback on the year and now faces an attackable 49ers defense. He’s a viable stream who has been dropped in many leagues.
Others: Brock Purdy, Tyler Shough and Jaxson Dart
RB Streamers:
Rhamondre Stevenson (NE): The Jets have struggled badly against the run this season and now face a rampant Patriots run attack. With TreVeyon Henderson very questionable for this week (though definitely start him if he plays), Rhamondre Stevenson becomes a highly valuable Week 17 asset.
Tony Pollard (TEN): Over the last three weeks, Tony Pollard has compiled 467 rushing yards and three touchdowns. That’s despite facing three difficult run defenses. This week it gets easier, against a Saints outfit that has been strong against the pass but more generous against the run. It could be another big day for the veteran back. Just understand the high risk here.
Blake Corum (LAR): The Rams have been resting Kyren Williams to keep him fresh for the playoffs. This has led to Blake Corum getting nearly half of the Rams’ snaps, especially in dominant wins. With LA an 8.5-point favorite, Corum is a viable deep option if you’re struggling due to injuries.
WR Streamers:
DJ Moore (CHI): After 14 weeks of uselessness, DJ Moore has finally emerged over the last two games, with 166 yards and three scores. He gets a solid matchup against the 49ers and, assuming Luther Burden and Rome Odunze remain out, Moore is a strong start for Week 17.
Deebo Samuel (WAS): He’s been impossible to start since his bye week, but with the Cowboys in town, Deebo Samuel is finally a feasible start for your fantasy championship. He’s a high upside, high risk proposition for Week 17.
Parker Washington (JAC): Let’s dig a little deeper. Parker Washington has the slot role in a Liam Coen offense, and we know how valuable that can be. He’s had at least 17 PPR points in four of his last seven games and gets a great matchup against the Colts. I’m comfortable streaming him in my big game.
TE Streamers:
Juwan Johnson (NO): Juwan Johnson has 33 targets over his last five games and gets an attackable Titans defense in Week 17. He’s not a strong start, but there’s not many tight ends who are a lock to get you 8 PPR points and in this landscape, that’s very valuable.
Jake Ferguson (DAL): The Commanders have conceded top five points to tight ends this season. While Jake Ferguson has been mired behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, he’s got plenty of upside in this matchup in an ugly week at the position.
K Streamers:
Andy Borregales (NE): The greatest kicker matchup in the league is the Jets, and Andy Borregales gets that juicy opportunity this week. He’s a lock and load option for a league title.
Charlie Smyth (NO): Let’s go deeper and grab someone available in the vast majority of leagues. Charlie Smyth gets a top matchup in the Titans after his K1 finish last week. There’s no reason to believe he can’t back it up.
DST Streamers:
Detroit Lions DST (DET): The Vikings will be rolling out Max Brosmer in Week 17. Eeeeek. There’s only one side of this battle I want, and it’s the defensive side. Start the Lions DST.
New Orleans Saints DST (NO): This was my DST pick of last week and they finished as the DST1. I’m bringing it back out against the struggling Titans offense. The Saints are a solid start for your championship week.
