It’s here and we haven’t seen a single preseason snap. I have to go off of twitter videos, coach speak and instinct. Eh, that’s alright, I feel like I have a pretty good grip on things. I’m pretty conservative this week when it came to moving people around. A lot of it has to deal with the unknown, but a big reason is that you should be starting your studs. There is no reason to get cute. Week 1 is not an absolute must win (although it would be nice to get one, right?”)

Some of week 1 rankings will mirror my season long ranking of a player depending on the matchup that he has. I have Austin Ekeler a few spots ahead of consensus. Having him top 5 against the Bengals is a no brainer. And I also have Ronald Jones as a low-end RB2 play this week. He will realistically get the majority of the touches in a balanced run/pass offense.

I have Kyler Murray a few spots ahead of consensus. I expect some familiarity for Kyler and regression from the world beating San Francisco 49ers in the first couple of weeks. They are working with a couple of new pieces on that defense. I also moved Joe Burrow up to playable in 2QB leagues. His consensus ranking is dumb this week.

For wide receivers, I moved Terry up a couple of spots against the Eagles. I moved Tyler Boyd up to a WR2 where he belongs. I moved JuJu back a little and gave Diontae Johnson a bump. For tight ends, I like Hurst as a top 5 play against Seattle and Gesecki should eat against a pieced together Patriots defense. Here are the rest of my rankings for week 1.

Week 1 flex start. 14 team half PPR.

    Parris Campbell vs Jax
    Antonio Gibson vs Philly
    Joshua Kelley vs Cinci
    James Washington vs NYG

    Need 1 starter please

      I’m leaning Gibson

Thank you. One more Newton or Garopollo? Apparently Garopollo tore up Arizona last year.

Cam is safer but Garappolo def an upside play. I may move Jimmy up as Sunday approaches. If it were me, I’d probably go Cam.

Dug in a bit more on Garappolo. Nice find. Yep, I’d start him over Cam

Do you think the loss of von Miller helps or hurts Gordon’s value? Thx

      Neither to be honest.

    Thanks MB!

I have a few scnearios for you, who do you like week 1:

Singletary vs Jets or Akers vs Cowboys

    and

    Pick one:

Hooper, Jonnu Smith or Jack Doyle

    Thanks

      Singletary, but barely and Jonnu

Things have been eerily quiet regarding Dalvin Cook lately.

Would be nice to get a more recent vote of confidence that he isn’t secretly plotting a hold out.

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

The new CBA makes it pretty much pointless to hold out. I think Dalvin investors are safe

  5. Jake says:

Hearing Miles Sanders could have his role limited week 1 due to his hamstring issue would you play Boston Scott over him PPR or should I play Mack or Fournett over Sanders ?

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

That may be true, but I would use Sanders in a limited role over the other 3 in built in limited roles

  6. Dave says:

Would you start AJ Brown, Fuller, Mark Ingram, Jonathan Taylor in my flex (PPR)? Need to pick one, I’m leaning brown but Fuller’s upside vs KC is mouth watering to me at least

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

Yeah tough with Fuller but I lean Brown. Too dynamic to leave on the bench

  7. toolshed says:

I see Evans has a soft tissue injury and I am not doctor but that seems bad for his chances of playing on sunday. These injuries don’t magically heal in a couple of day without risk for aggravation. Would you add Scotty miller if you own evans? I’d be cutting a bench wr like tate. It sucks that this happened already and no games have been played. Miller has that edelman feel to me, i know it is a longshot. Thanks

      MB says:

Yep, I’d be adding Scotty. I’ll be moving Evans down and Scotty ip

  8. AZ Ramirez says:
    (link)

Should I drop Nyheim Hines for James Robinson (JAX)? I’m a believer in Hines moving forward but I need a 4th back that’s more than a passive participant in an offense

    • AZ Ramirez says:
      (link)

Latest report has him at RB1 on their depth chart

I’m not sold on anyone in that backfield getting double digit touches. I’d stay away unless you need a week 1 starter. Players will always emerge once actual football is played

MB…I’m putting this here b/c it’s the league you’re in…the cash league with only 3 of us in it launched and auto-drafted anyway tonight. I assume this is going to be cancelled but if so can it happen soon so I can throw that money into another league? If we’re playing 3-team I don’t really mind playing with Mahomes, L-Jax and Run-CMC anchoring my lineup, but you know…

Cut Darrell Henderson, Noah Fant, or Mecole Hardman? Need to add a kicker…

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

Depends on positional depth and league size. I love Noah Fant so it would probably be Hardman. Never know when you should start him. At least that was the case last year

      • Sancho says:
        (link)

12 teams. I have Waller. I like Fant a lot too, Emmanuel Sanders is my WR4 also have Perriman at WR5, Have Cook, David Johnson, and Drake as my main RBs, w/ Henderson and Mattison as my backups.

        • MB

          MB says:

I’d rather have Hardman than Perriman.

Hey man! Glad to be back! No defensive ranks this year?! I drafted NO round 14, so I suppose not attached…drop em & stream LAC against Burrows, Tennessee @ Denver or Detroit v. Chicago?? Standard scoring, 12 team league.

Also, at flex I’m going with Fournette & hoping he gets 10 carries…seeing as my other options are no better with D Samuel, Crowder, Mattison, Henderson Jr or Duke Johnson, thoughts?

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

I’m also glad to have ya back! I never rank D/st rankings but always happy to help you figure out who to start there. I’d go LAC, high chance of turnovers.

I would avoid Fournette if you can. I’d start Deebo if he’s active

      • Nick says:
        (link)

Hmm Deebo doesn’t seem like he will be active & if so, might be limited. You wouldn’t prefer the potential upside of Fournette having a good game & getting 10-15 carries vs. the probably relatively low ceiling of Crowder?

I have to sit one of these studs:

    McLaurin
    Kupp
    Chark
    A Rob

    Ugh!

    Devante parker at New England
    Gibson versus Philadelphia
    Emmanuel Sanders V tb
