We’re back for an important week in fantasy football before the playoffs begin! Let’s review my favorite WR starts and sits for Week 14, utilizing Razzball’s Wide Receiver Fantasy Points Scored Slot vs. Wide and our Defense Slot vs. Wide. The Slot vs Wide chart breaks down how many fantasy points a wide receiver has scored so far this season from the slot vs. out wide. With three weeks under our belts, the sample size is growing, and trends are starting to emerge.

Starts

  • Player: Justin Jefferson
  • Opponent: vs. Commanders

It’s now or never for Jettas. I know most of you have lost confidence in Jettas, considering he’s barely exceeded 100 yards on 11 catches over his last three games. I am not saying he’s a must-start, but this is a great spot for him to make it right. The Commanders allow the second-most points, along with the fifth-most yards and fifth-most TDs to WRs this season. Breaking it down further, the second-most from the slot and eighth-most on the perimeter. Jefferson is producing a 75:25 outside:slot ratio this season, close to Washington’s 60:40 ratio. Jefferson is too talented to be held down for a fourth consecutive game against a lackluster opponent, and the numbers support it.

  • Player: Christian Watson
  • Opponent: vs. Bears

The Packers’ highest-scoring WR on the season gets a favorable matchup against the Bears at Lambeau Field. Chicago gives up the fifth-most points to WRs lined up outside at 23.7 points per game, and just allowed A.J. Brown to fly high with a 10-132-2. Brown, similar to Watson, does his damage on the outside and tallied a 51-yard touchdown on Thanksgiving. Watson is generating the most targets from Jordan Love over the past month of football, so he’ll be a reliable starter for fantasy in a big divisional matchup.

WR3 Starts (WRs ranked outside the top 25)

  • Player: Adonai Mitchell
  • Opponent: vs. Dolphins

I was right about a Jets WR going off last week, but selected the wrong one. This week, Mitchell has my full trust after showing he can catch the rock. The Dolphins are not the best matchup on paper, but have been susceptible to opposing WRs over the last month, permitting the eighth-most points. Over the season, Miami is allowing the fourth-highest rate of points in the slot at 45%. The former first-rounder played a Jets season-high 31% from the slot against the Falcons in Week 13 en route to a top 10 WR finish. Mitchell was one of three WRs in Week 13 to create 10 snaps of separation out of 18 opportunities. I anticipate his slot opportunities will increase this week, taking advantage of Miami’s weakness.

  • Player: DK Metcalf
  • Opponent: at Baltimore

The Ravens are not a worrisome bunch as they’re allowing the 11th-highest rate of fantasy points on the perimeter and the 12th-most points overall this season. Metcalf is averaging nearly 10 PPG on the outside, scoring 86% of his points from there. He’s been a letdown of late, but he’s generating a healthy seven targets over his last four games. In a must-win game for the Steelers, they’ll need their WR1 to provide some game-changing catches in hopes of his second game over the century mark. Jamar Chase went over 100 yards against Baltimore in Week 13 with 75% snap share out wide.

 Sits

  • Player: Khalil Shakir
  • Opponent: vs. Bengals

Going back to the well with another slot WR against the Bengals. Shakir has been too inconsistent to trust in Week 14 if you need a W, especially when facing the Cincinnati secondary. The Bengals are allowing the fewest points to WRs in 2025. They’re allowing the fewest points out wide and the fifth-fewest in the slot. Zay Flowers was limited to just six yards against this defense last weekend. Don’t be shocked if Shakir is locked down after recording two of his last three games under six yards. It doesn’t help when Shakir played a season-low 49% of snaps following the addition of Brandin Cooks and the return of Keon Coleman.

  • Player: Brian Thomas Jr.
  • Opponent: vs. Colts

It pains me to do this, but it’s time to bench BTJ as the Colts permit the third-lowest rate of points to WRs out wide. Thomas relies heavily on scoring out wide, scoring 92% of his points there. He appears to be the third option behind Jakobi Meyers and Brenton Strange. My recommendation to sit BTJ is more of an endorsement of Meyers, who can operate from the slot where Indy gives up the third-most points.  I will note he played under 50% snaps while returning from an ankle injury, but ran the second-most routes against Tennessee in Week 13. However, it’s not enough to have confidence in starting him this week.

  • Player: Chris Godwin
  • Opponent: vs. Saints

Godwin led the Buccaneers in receiving yards in Week 13, and it’s easy to get excited about what he can do in your lineups. The issue is that New Orleans is allowing the second-fewest points to slot WRs this season. In just four games this season, Godwin is scoring 73% of his points lined up inside the formation. If the Bucs get Mike Evans or Jalen McMillan back, it could further complicate snaps and targets for Godwin, as Emeka Egbuka has emerged as the WR1 for Baker Mayfield.
