Don’t be sad that the fantasy football season is over; be glad it happened in the first place. However, if you are among the many football enthusiasts who play dynasty-format fantasy football, you know the season never truly ends. So while we might be staring down the barrel of the NFL offseason, there’s plenty to be done as a dynasty manager. Between now and the beginning of training camp is when champions are made. This week, guest Matt Chester joins Jon and me to discuss draft winners and losers and why Zay Flowers is firing off to the moon.

NFL News & Notes

D’Andre Swift Taking Flight?

When the Detroit Lions drafted Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs with the 12th overall pick, it seemed a foregone conclusion that D’Andre Swift would be dealt. However, no one could have imagined that he would land on an already-loaded Philadelphia Eagles squad. It’s always exciting to see a player who hasn’t lived up to their potential get a new lease on life, but given that Swift is primarily a pass-catching back, it’s not looking good. The Eagles targeted the running back fewer times (61) in 202 than any other team. Seeing as there has been little change in their approach thus far this offseason, Swift will likely get lost in the shuffle in Philadelphia.

Randall Cobb to the Green Bay Jets

You’ve heard of New England West – The Las Vegas Raiders – but have you been introduced to the Green Bay Jets? It’s becoming increasingly laughable how Aaron Rodgers is getting his way in New York. Before a trade was completed, the team placated the veteran QB by signing WR Allen Lazard. Is TE Marcedes Lewis next?

Post- NFL Draft Winners & Losers

The NFL Draft was one of the more wild and unexpected affairs in recent memory. It started with the Houston Texans trading with the Arizona Cardinals for the third overall pick, landing QB CJ Stroud and LB Will Anderson in back-to-back selections. Then, the Colts shocked many by taking Florida QB Anthony Richardson over Will Levis with the fourth overall pick. Was that the end of the madness? Not even close.

  • The Detroit Lions shocked everyone by selecting Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs, or D’Andre Swift 2.0 as I like to call him, with the 12th overall pick.
  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba fell to the Seattle Seahawks at pick number 20, starting a WR run that saw Quentin Johnston land with the Chargers, Zay Flowers to the Ravens and Jordan Addison become a Viking.
  • Despite being consistently mocked as a first-round selection, Kentucky QB Will Levis fell to the Tennessee Titans with the second pick of the second round.
  • The Buffalo Bills got involved in the fun, trading up to grab TE Dalton Kincaid from the Dallas Cowboys.

It was a wild affair, and about as much fun as anyone could have hoped for. Now that the dust has settled, what do these landing spots mean? What will be the fallout for your dynasty fantasy football rosters? Check out this week’s episode of Dynasty Diehards to find out.
