Don't be shellfish...Tweet about this on TwitterShare on FacebookShare on Google+Share on Reddit

Let me start this segment with apologies to all Baltimore Ravens fans.  They were looking like possible contenders this year in terms a Super Bowl run with a high octane offense and a decent enough defense with Suggs around the corner to shore things up.  Well, things just got dire.  With both Ray Lewis and Ladarius Webb going down with season-enders on Sunday, the defense is going to struggle from here on out.  Considering they weren’t very intimidating coming into the game versus the Cowboys to date is already telling.  With all that reality out of the way, let’s get to the fantasy spin.  Joe Flacco was already having a strong season as he’s on pace for 4500 yards passing.  The touchdown passes aren’t there yet with only 8 on the season but that hurry up offense now needs to kick it into a higher gear.  If you’ve ever watched the Saints offense, you’ll get what I’m saying.  It won’t matter if Baltimore is up two touchdowns, they’re going to need to keep pumping it into the redzone to stay ahead the rest of the way and that means increased opportunities for Flacco and crew.  So rather than giving a buncha buys, just realize guys like Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith get a bump with news like this.  Don’t believe me?  Just ask Andy Dalton owners how much they like Cincy giving up 61 points to the Browns in two games.  Not that QB isn’t deep this year but this might be a big push for Flacco to be a top 7 QB going forward.  No I’m not calling that, I’m just saying if he’s already ranked 10th among QBs according to yahoo and has a clean shot at 20+ TD passes from here on out, he’s gonna start creeping up.  In other buy/sell ideas for fantasy football…

Buy

Guys On Bye - It’s the perfect combination of desparation and opportunity melding together.  Yeah, broad stroke I know.  But we all know we’re 6 weeks into the season.  Go take a look at that 2-4 team with a million players on bye and see if you can wrestle someone away you wouldn’t normally get unless the owner were a n00b.  Heck, maybe they are a n00b.  Either way, it’s always good to say hello to bye buys.

Mikel LeShoure - Don’t really like calling him a buy namely because I don’t think he’s that impressive but facts are facts.  Jahvid Best is looking less and less like a threat while Detroit has all but assigned Kevin Smith to the practice squad.  Joquie Bell will get his touches here and there but LeShoure seems to have a full handle on the brunt of carries.  His touches stay where they’re at ROS, he’s a solid RB2 play from here on out.  For what it’s worth, I just typed that with a look on my face that said an SBD just wafted my way.

Kendall Wright - Alright, here are some numbers: 11, 8, 11, 8.  Do you see the pattern?  What number comes next if this were to go to infinity?  Sorry, forgot this wasn’t math class.  Those are the target numbers weeks 3 thru 6 for Wright.  Tennessee is going to be playing from behind most of the season so don’t be worried about the other WRs on the team.  Wright could be a sneaky WR3 rest of the way and probably wouldn’t cost much in a trade.  Go check in before the stock rises.

Sell

Fred Jackson - I alluded to this a bit on MondayC.J. Spiller has been the more impressive back between the two.  Fred just scored a touchdown and had a healthy amount of touches.  Try and play him up a bit to the Spiller owner as being a hedge (that they don’t really need) or straight up as a solid RB2 (which he no longer is).  I worry the touches will slide more to Spiller from here on out.  I also worry about worrying to much, though, so there’s that.

Shonn Greene - To sum up this sell, I’ll use one word: obligatory.  There, I’m done…next!

James Jones - Doing his best Chris Carter impersonation.  No, not that Chris Carter.  No, not that one either.  Do you even know what sport we’re talking about?  But I digress, Jones is on pace for nearly 19 touchdowns this season with 2 TDs a week since week 4 which is making his so-so rec/yards over that span – 12 receptions for 135 yards – palatable.  Now I do believe he’ll hold some value over the course of the season with Finley dropping everything that comes near him and Jennings having injury issues but he’s not going to stay the 34th ranked player in yahoo ROS or my name isn’t Tits McGee.  Wait, it’s not…stupid teleprompter!  But I digress, his value couldn’t get any higher right now and it’s bye week everywhere.

Start Michael Bush v. Detroit, or Daryl Richardson v. Green Bay? The bye be a cruel mistress.

Dang, it really is. I’d give Bush a shot.

Need to start 2 of these 3, courtesy of bye weeks. RB2 & Flex. 1/2 PPR:

Vick Ballard, Alex Green, & Brandon Gibson?

    • Sky

I’d go with your two RBs.

Good to know the site I trust most with my fantasy teams has a guy from the 704! Grew up in Mooresville myself!

Anyway, enough nonsense… thoughts on Phil Rivers the rest of the season? Mondays game has me worried with the turnovers and I have an offer of Matt Ryan for Percy Harvin. Take the deal, or counter with other guys like mike wallace and michael bush? Basically, im wondering if I need to go after another qb if ive started the season 5-1. 12 team standard.

    Thanks!

      I’m assuming that’s a shoutout to JB :)

Tough, I do still like Rivers but I’m starting to worry myself. Matt Ryan looks like a top 5 QB for the year and is above a guy like Rivers. If you have the WR depth, I’d do it.

  4. Plainview says:

Would you hold Pitta? I’m ready to dump him and play match-ups with whoever is on waivers but you seem optimistic about the Ravens’ offense. Seems to me that Boldin is getting all his balls but let me know what you think – thanks.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I’d give him this week to prove himself. The team should be pass-heavy so his workload should improve. If it doesn’t, I’d play matchups.

Better ROS Kendall Wright or Dominic Hixon?

Start Austin or Ballard FLEX week 7 standard scoring

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Actually like Wright more. Targets tell me he’s doing well.

      Austin.

  6. PPR –
    Should I make this trade?

I give Antonio Brown and Jared Cook and I get in return Mike Williams and Jay Cutler

I picked up Josh Freeman as Rivers is on Bye
I don’t really need Cutler unless he could be better ROS over Rivers or I stick with Freeman for ROS

My WR’s are Calvin Johnson, Percy Harvin, Antonio Brown and James Jones
My TE’s are Hernandez and Jared Cook

    • Sky

      Sky says:

      Just pick up Freeman.

Wright/Lofton. Thanks, GM to you too!

Give Harvin for Gore and Crabtree? Start 2 RB, 3 WR, no flex. No PPR, bonus at 100 yds rushing or receiving.

My team is in good shape, but I do have a bye week crunch at RB the next couple weeks, plus no reliable RB3 thereafter should Mathews or Rice have an issue (Tate and Hunter are my next best options). I LOVE Harvin, but would replace him in the starting lineup with Britt (alongside Julio and Wayne), and then have Crabtree as my backup. Meanwhile Gore would be my RB3, and I have Hunter as insurance. Then again, SF’s run defense schedule gets pretty brutal.

Ultimately I’d prefer to keep Harvin and do a smaller deal elsewhere for more of a true RB3 type, but if I can’t get that done, would this be an OK fallback, or should I just stand pat and hope Rice and Mathews stay healthy (and Norv pulls his head out of his ass re: Mathews’ usage)?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

It’s fair but they both have 9th week byes. Would rather just swing a smaller deal

    12 team PPR, deep bench.

Are any of Santana Moss, Andre Roberts, Robert Meachem, or Kendall Hunter worth dropping for Josh Gordon, Stokley, Devery Henderson, Stephen Hill, or Titus Young?

    Thanks!

    Sky,

I need to pick up a WR to fill in for my bye week. Available are Kerley, Avery, Lafell, S. Moss, Little, and Gordon. I’m leaning towards rolling the dice with Gordon, hoping for a big play or two against the Colts. Thoughts?

In my RCL i lost out on Jones and had to pick up Richardson(STL) for this week with the uncertainty of Mendenhall and Bush on the Bye. I saw Blount was available, but I know he is only for goal line duty. Thoughts?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I think Blount will get another plunge. I really think that game is a fantasy feast. Both defenses are just terrible. It’s a risky play, but I’d rather have Blount.

This guy in my league has been harassing me about trading Foster. Tough to do but my team is struggling. He offered me McFadden, J. Nelson and D. Moore OR Kendell Wright for Foster and Stevie Johnson. It seems ok but not quit enough. What do you think?

Sup Sky? Need a few suggestions..

    1) Keller, Olsen, Pitta, Chandler or Dreessen – which one should I pick up to replace Gates on the BYE?

    2) Pick 2: Morris (tough match-up), Ridley, W. Powell

    3) WR3: Hawkins, DHB, Hixon, Burleson, Gordon

    4) Is Goodson a must-own handcuff for McFadden owners?

    Danke!

    • Sky

      Sky says:

      Hey FillyP

      1) I’d go Olsen

      2) Morris

      3) Haven’t really looked at my weekly rankings yet but I’d go Gordon off the top of my head.

      4) I don’t think so

      bitte!

@Sky, Would you drop Hawkins for Gordon? My WR are: Harvin, Fitz, Maclin (BYE) .. I could also drop Ballard, Blount, or O. Daniels. Thoughts?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

I could see dropping Blount for him. Very few matchups you’ll want to use him in

  24. Nico says:
    (link)

Would you trade Chris Johnson and Doug Martin for Lesean Mccoy in a .5 PPR? I would have Mccoy, Spiller, Sproles, Larry Fitzgerald, and Brandon Marshall for 2rb/2wr/1flex and James Jones and Crabtree on the bench. I have a ton of depth but no stud RB. Thanks!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Nico, Don’t think you need a stud RB with those three guys in a PPR. I’d personally hold. I think Doug’s days are coming.

I’d say they’re pretty equal, honestly. I’d probably have to give the vet the thumbs up for being around/knowing the system better so Nate.

  28. HotRod says:

Just traded away forte…leaves me with Charles & DMC. I already own Goodson, and had Michael Bush as Forte handcuff… Smart to pickup Hillis & drop Bush? With both Charles & DMC past byes after this week dont see much value in keeping bush(except for trade value if Forte gets hurt). I also have the law firm as my 3rd RB…

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Bush is still a part of the game plan and has played decently enough to be held over Hillis. I wouldn’t drop him for Peyton.

      • HotRod says:
        (link)

        @Sky,

So if Charles gets hurt…would you rather play Law Firm or Hillis in Charles place?
