Don't be shellfish...Tweet about this on TwitterShare on FacebookShare on Google+Share on Reddit

So you draft in the first round and you take ‘your guy’.  You know who I’m talking about.  He’s the one you had circled in your draft that was gonna carry the load for you this year.  Sure, his surrounding team is pretty boring but he’s the workhorse there and nobody is there to take his place.  I’m talking of none other then Trent Richardson.  He used to be a Cleveland Brown but now he’s in Indy blue and I”m pretty sure some owners are both happy and sad about this, at least for this week.  You see, I have a hard time believing they’re gonna just throw him out there in San Fran and make him the main back for the offense this weekend.  Not saying he won’t get touches and have a chance at being productive, but do you remember your first day at school in a new town?  Remember how uncomfortable everything felt?  You didn’t remember where your locker was and you walked into the girl’s bathroom a few times?  Well, it’s already a bad matchup being in San Fran after the whoopin’ they took in Seattle last weekend.  Imagine not knowing the whole game plan to boot?  He could have a really solid game but I’m sorry to say he’s flex-worthy this week.  What, you’re 0-2 and were counting on him this weekend to produce?  Tough.  Your RB2 was Ahmad Bradshaw?   Well, it’s clear God hates you.  Moving forward, I’ll have to see how Trent looks to know how well he’s gonna fit in there.  The RBs in Cleveland leave much to be desired right now so they’re down in the ‘I play in a 20 team league with 5 flexes’ area cuz…yeah, it just isn’t looking pretty in Cleveland right now.  This also means your streamer defense of the week is the Vikings as the Browns try to compete with Jacksonville for ‘worst assembled team in 2013′ the rest of the way.  Outside of that, I’m still a Cam Newton believer…I really don’t know why.  Ok, NYG just haven’t had it on defense so far this year and think Cam could break out of his funk.  They’ve also allowed plenty of TE points and that could lead to a solid day for Olsen.  If Cam doesn’t succeed, we’re officially broken up until he proves he still loves me.  Outside that, nothing too drastic.  Knowshon is an RB1 against week run defenses until he proves otherwise and if Bush is injured worse then it appears, Bell will wiggle up into high end RB2 this week with a tasty Redskins matchup on the docket.  And with that, I am off to bed.  No wait, I have to leave work first…nah, I’ll just go to bed.  The boss will think I came in early!  Just gotta remember to wipe the drool off my keyboard. But enough about my social graces, let’s take a look at the rankings for week 3 of the 2013 Fantasy Football season…

From Around The Web

  1. Jiggy Nits says:
    (link)

My Moreno + Colston for Cobb. OR My DeAngelo +Colston for Cobb

Rest of RB squad: T Rich, DeMarco Murray, Gio Benard, Bernard Pierce
Rest of WR: B Marshall, Givens, DeAndre Hopkins, Josh Gordon

I figure this gives me a lock at WR2 (Colston a bit dissapointing) and I roll with the punched at flex. What say you? Which out of the two do you like more?

    • Chicken Dinner says:
      (link)

@Jiggy Nits: second option gets my vote

        • @Jiggy Nits: If you’re deep enough at RB, it doesn’t have to be fair, as long as it helps your starting line-up, which it definitely does. Cobb should finish a top-5 ff wr this year, imo.

    • Sky

      Sky says:

You’re getting the better player but its week 2…how is Colston disappointing? Think you should hold

      • Jiggy Nits says:

        @Sky: Thanks!

        • Sky

          No prob

  2. Chicken Dinner says:

    Trade Steve Smith for Cameron?
My WRs are Dez, Gordon, Tate, Hankerson.
    My TE would be Clay.

If your TE is Clay and you’re getting Cam, go for it

  3. Zar says:
    (link)

    Non-PPR,

I have Brandon Marshall, and Colston, but need a 3rd receiver. My options are Edelman, Stevie Johnson, or Hilton. I’m considering picking up Randle or Royal. Should I drop one of the WR, or drop David WIlson/Lamar Miller (Or Gronk)

    • Bubba38 says:
      (link)

      @Zar: Edelman

      • @Bubba38: NON-ppr you want redzone targets. Edelman won’t be a consistent one. Stevie will. KEEP those RBs at any cost. Either one could break out.

    • Sky

      Sky says:

I ranked these WR plays in my weekly rankings. Don’t drop anyone

  4. David says:
    (link)

    14 team PPR League

I’m set at WR and TE, but need an RB to pair with Charles and Lacy is out.

I send: Hopkins, Martellus Bennett, and Lacy

    I receive: Foster

    Fair trade?

The other guy is desperate for WR and TE. HE is currently starting Harry Douglas, Doug Baldwin, and Jermaine Gresham.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Not really overly hip on Foster. See if he can throw in a sweetener

  5. Clint says:
    (link)

So does your advice to drop Ivory in favor of Bernard change now that I have dead weight Bradshaw on my bench as well Sky?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Clint: Yeah, you can drop Bradshaw if it means keeping Ivory

  6. Slim

    Buddah Lovaz says:
    (link)

I came to check on Snelling and Shorts. Your pretty high on both. I was thinking about starting…
    3WR 2RB 2RB/WR. TRich, J.Bell, Starks. A.Brown, Torrey Smith, Givens, Miles Austin.
I think your rankings are telling me to bench TRich and Antonio. Play Snelling, Shorts. Shorts vs Sherman scares me. I’m with ya with Givens vsDal.

I was wondering how you felt about TRich vs Miles Austin? Not in a celebrity deathmatch. Just in a standard fantasy league.

Where would you rank Ellington if Mendy can’t go? @Saints.

    • Slim

      Buddah Lovaz says:
      (link)

@Buddah Lovaz: The TRich vs Miles was a start question. Not a trade question…

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Buddah Lovaz: Shorts wasn’t supposed to be that high. My move must not’ve taken. I have him down in WR3 territory this week. I’ll make that fix here soon.

Ha! I’ll still go TRich for upside. Just TRich is a mystery, I can’t rank him like he’s gonna get 20 touches and even if he does, not knowing the playbook and in SF…just tough overall.

Ellington would basically replace Rashard. High End Flex/low end RB2.

      • Slim

        Buddah Lovaz says:
        (link)

@Sky: Thanks. I can’t believe I’m looking at starting Joique Bell, Snelling, Starks as my RBs. That wasn’t the plan on draft day. I’m gonna be stoked if I can steal a Win this week. Ryan, Stafford, Jimmy need to do their part.

        • Sky

          Sky says:

Madness by week 3. Sounds about right. Hopefully they come up big for you.

  7. The Thumb says:
    (link)

I streamed the ‘boys D/ST last weekend, are they worth dropping for getting in on that Jets/Bills matchup or are they a potential season long hold? Thanks!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@The Thumb: I do like Dallas ROS but given a better stream, I’ll take it. Hop in on that game. Could be full of rookie mistakes and both defenses have been solid so far.

  8. jeff says:
    (link)

could you elaborate on why the jets and Bills defense are both ranked higher than the Vikings this week?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@jeff: Because they’re actually better defenses. I get that it could be a rout for MIN, but they’re 28th in overall defense so far this year. They’re a streamer, I wouldn’t put them ahead of an actual better defense.

  9. The Thumb says:
    (link)

J Gordon, Hilton, Ivory, or B Tate for Flex this week? Thanks!

    • @The Thumb: Hilton by far, for now. We’ll have to see how, and how often, Hoyer will be throwing to Gordon.

  10. Nightpandas says:
    (link)

,5 ppr, would you drop Hartline for Givens going forward?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Nightpandas: You don’t have anyone else you can drop? I like Givens but trust Hartline more in a PPR format. Just depends if you need stability or upside moving forward.

  11. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

Two questions for the consensus here:

    1) His Stevie Johnson and Reggie Bush for my Dez Bryant and either Frank Gore or Daryl Richardson?

I’m assuming this is a no. But like to look into things.

WRs: Green, Dez, Peter Waiter, Decker, Gordon
RBs: Forte, Gore, D.Rich, Moreno, Wilson, Gio

0.5 PPR, usual stats with some yardage bonuses – 3 points per 85 yards receiving/100 yards rushing, 6 points per 135 yards receiving/150 yards rushing

    2) In the same league, are you playing D.Rich over Gore this week?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      @Wilsonian:

      1) No

      2) Yup, Gore looks bad.

      • Wilsonian says:
        (link)

@Sky: thank you sir, I’m turning it down as we speak. Would you trade both Gore and Richardson for Bush? Or steer clear from him for the time being?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

The injury scares me and I actually like D-Rich. I need to see him this weekend. If he’s still churning out 3.5 Ypc then, I’ll have to revise and say yes.

  12. Bubba38 says:
    (link)

I see your rankings, but is there any chance in Hades that you’d start Alex Smith against a terrible Eagles D over Eli for this one?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Bubba38: Have three letters for you: TNF. Bad stats abound from those, offensively. Always seem to disappoint even when the defense is bad or offense is good.

      • the imp says:
        (link)

@Sky: Agree for Smith. But maybe for the Eagles, since they run such a novel system, the pendulum swings the other way?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Yeah, TNF is all about lack of prep time. But that offense – for as complicated as it is – is pretty much ‘this is what we do’. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s one of the more high scoring TNF matches this year but I also wouldn’t put money on it. Just so tough to play 4 days later for NFL teams.

  13. Oppo Taco says:
    (link)

Trade knowshon for decker? .5 ppr
    Qb – Brady
    Wr – Calvin
    Wr – white
    Rb – forte
    Rb – deangelo
    Te – cook
    Flex – Moreno
Bench – leveon bell, ivory, marlon brown, Bryce brown, vereen, randle

@Oppo Taco: It’s fair. Would rather horde my RB depth and play matchups at WR, though.

  14. Oppo Taco says:

I might counter with leveon bell or maybe d will, what’s your take, he needs a rb. Thanks

    • Sky

      Sky says:

@Oppo Taco: Same stance. You’re not gonna get much for Bell until he’s healthy.

  15. Jordan73 says:
    (link)

If Vernon Davis can’t go on Sunday, should I take a chance on Vance McDonald or grab one of these four – Clay, G. Graham, Fleener, or Eifert?

    Thanks!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Jordan73: I wouldn’t go McDonald. I ranked the rest in my rankings.

  16. Zandy says:
    (link)

Sell high on Stevie Johnson or is he for real this year with EJ?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Zandy: Slot receiver so his floor is high. He’s for real as a solid WR2. Just depends what you’re getting for him.

  17. g says:
    (link)

In a bad RB situation this week since my drafted starters were Trich and SJax. I have Mendenhall at my RB1. This league allows the smallest bench ever so I have a weak RB bench of Woodhead and Snelling. Thought on whther i should go Trich, Snelling, or Woodhead at RB2? Its a .5PPR. Thanks in advance.

    • g says:
      (link)

      @g:
Btw I know I can look at your rankings but wondering if the .5 PPR factors in and wanted to hear your thoughts on why you are highest on Snelling in rankings

      • Sky

        Sky says:
        (link)

@g: Because he’s going to have the best shot to perform for Atlanta vs a Miami team that gives up 4.6 ypc. Dolphins are a good defensive team but I see Snelling carrying the load and getting clock grinding yardage. Even with PPR, think he has a good chance at a TD this week and at least 60-80 yards.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@g: I ranked those guys in my weekly rankings.

  18. AZ says:

    Thanks!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      @AZ: Mendy if he’s healthy.

  19. Dawg says:
    (link)

1pt PPR league and I have a starting WR debacle.

My obvious start is Demaryius Thomas but I have two more WR slots to plug in Bowe, Hopkins, Steve Smith, Steve Johnson. Thoughts on who to plug in? Thanks!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Dawg: I ranked them in my weekly rankings above

    • hooverviille says:
      (link)

@Dawg: I actually like Bowe & Hopkins in that setup. I’m big on Hopkins and he’s going to be matched up against Corey Graham (if Andre Johnson plays), who has given up something like a 128 QB rating and 180-190 passing yards so far. Graham is a smaller corner, and its becoming apparent that Hopkins is a physical freak- if you saw the game last week you’d agree. He should be in line for 5-6 catches 90 yards, and i’d say about a 30% chance of a TD. I anticipate the Texans are going to take it easy on Andre Johnson coming off that concussion.

      • Dawg says:
        (link)

@hooverviille: thanks! That’s actually exactly what I had, but the rankings above were way off. I think Stevie Johnson should be ranked lower too.

  20. Not A Broncos Fan says:

How is Cecil Sharts so high when he’s facing Richard Sherman? Really take him over Decker VS. Oak?

    Julius Thomas at #12? ROFL.

    • Sky

@Not A Broncos Fan: The code for Cecil Shorts didn’t take. Have him down in the low 30’s.

How much of a $100 free agent budget would you fork over for him?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@malamoney: I wouldn’t break the bank. Think he’s a flex most weeks at best. Max $15 if I really need an RB.

PPR for flex: J. Bell, Woodhead, Hilton, or Marlon Brown? Right now, it’s Bell, but I don’t know Bush status.

Aanother PPR team: Need an RB and Flex from these guys: J. Bell, Bradsahw, B. Pierce, Andrew Roberts. Right now, it’s J.Bell at RB and Roberts in the flex. Thoughts?

    You da man.

Still Bell until I hear more on Bush’s status as well. Then I’d pick whichever WR is higher in my rankings.

Well, what was already a shitty team turned even worse last night with Bradshaw who had a decent season ahead taking a dump,

Sooooo my question is this. A guy in our league is desperate for WR’s and has some tasty RB’s, Who would you target and who would you offer for this keeper league?

I have AJohnson, Roddy White and Tavon Austin.

He has JCharles and Forte. I was thinking Roddy White for either or. Would that be aggressive enough or no? If so, who would you target and who would you offer to get him to bite?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@RG3 Needs a Knee: As long as he’s not concerned about Roddy’s ankle moving forward, go for it. I’d take either but you’re probably only going to get Forte in a deal for a WR.

  28. Operation Mindcrime says:
    (link)

Decisions, decisions. So far, only definite start at RB is Lamar Miller. Starting DJax and Demaryius at wideout. For 2 spots at RB and FLEX, which 2 of MJD, Gio Bernard, Jacquizz Rodgers, Fred Jax, TYHilton, Hartline?

  30. David says:
    (link)

    Sky,
I’m in a 10-team ppr league. I am running thin at RB and very deep at WR. My starting 2 Rb’s are DMC and Wilson w/ Powell/Ivory combo and Tate as depth options. I desperately need an upgrade at one of my RB slots.

Good news is I have plenty of WR depth. My league affords us the ability to start as much as 5 WR’s and as little as 2 RB’s any given week. Alternatively I can start 4 WR’s and 3 RB’s if my roster dictated this scenario. Needless to say I don’t need to have the best RB’s to be successfull so I value stability right now. I have D.Thomas, Cobb, Vjax, Shorts, Torrey, Floyd, Kendall Wright.

Plenty of teams seeking to buy low on Wilson offering the likes of MJD, Gore, and Sproles.

I have one offer of MJD/Randle for Vjax/Wilson and another getting Gore or Sproles and Andre Roberts for the same package.

How I look at things, I’d prob rather have Wilson’s upside over MJD, Sproles, or Gore.
MJD is a dilemma, Gore has old legs, and Sproles doesn’t run the ball affording me pt/10 yds I get from RB over pt/15 for WR. His value is in the PPR but he’s too one dimensional. But again its the stability I value.

Whats your take on any of these RB’s and given my situation would you maintain patience or pull the trigger?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Don’t like any of those trades. Like Sproles stability but they’re not good trades

      • David says:
        (link)

I’m leaning same way although I’m exposed at that position in the matchups. If I’m giving up that package I should get back as close to a reliable #1 RB as possible.

So need to fill out 2RB, 3WR, 1RB/WR flex, 1RB/TE flex out of the following:

RB: DMC, Wilson, Powell, Ivory, Tate
WR: D. Thomas, Cobb, Vjax, Shorts, Torrey, Michael Floyd

        Recommendations?

    Spiller for Reggie Bush?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      I’ll take Spiller there.

  34. J Money says:

    Drop Britt for Sneilling ?

    WR/TE Flex: Wright, Saunders ?

Also, if Bush doesn’t play Sunday or I decide to bench him anyway, would you be more comfortable playing Sneilling or Ellington or Thomas as my RB2?

I assume you say Sneilling here. I know the options are not great.

14 Team .5 PPR with 2 RB slots and no RB flex.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      In a heartbeat

      Saunders? Wright

Yes, Snelling is ranked higher in my rankings

      • J Money says:
        (link)

@Sky: Meant Sanders, but I assume it is still Wright.

        Thanks Sky

Thanks for all the replies Sky. I’m quickly growing to be a fan of Razzball and your blog solely on the interest you show in the ongoing comments.

I’m looking for overall advice in two leagues.

0.5 PPR w/ a Flex – 12 man league, but 8 people make the playoffs.
    QB Eli Manning, EJ Manuel
RB TRich, Lamar Miller, Knowshon Moreno, Joique Bell, Daryl Richardson, Shane Vereen.
WR Dez Bryant, Victor Cruz, Tavon Austin, Kenbrell Thompkins, DHB
    TE: Coby Fleener, Gronk
    Streaming Defs and Ks.

I’m 0-2 in this league, but I have no idea what to do with my team..

Standard scoring – 10 man league
    QB: Eli Manning, Tony Romo
RB: CJ Spiller, David Wilson, Giovani Bernard, Moreno, JBell
WR: Pierre Garcon, Eric Decker, Edelman, Amendola, Deandre Hopkins
    TE: Jimmy Graham

1-1 here, so not as worried. Did I overload on RBs, considering I only get to start 2, and hurt my WR position?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Hey thanks Josh! That means alot.

QB is your only problem for your 0-2 team but Eli has performed well playing from behind. When Gronk comes back, that team will be fine.

You can never overload on RBs. WRs you just need Amendola to come back healthy/strong and you’ve got a good thing going w/Garcon as well.

Don’t think there’s much you need to do for either other then to just have guys come back healthy and perform up to their ability.

      • Josh says:
        (link)

        @Sky:

More of a general lineup strategy thing. Do you ever disregard the rankings based on matchups? Say, you’re playing against someone starting Matt Ryan, and opt to start Snelling over someone like DeAngelo Williams or Giovani Bernard so that you can hedge against Atlanta if they take the win?

        What about kicker-qb situations?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

I don’t really delve that deep. Rather just go with the play unless it’s close

  37. E says:
    (link)

MJD or K. Thompkins for FLEX non-ppr

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

ooph…if MJD is healthy, I feel inclined to say him. Just don’t think you should expect much from either this week.

  38. Jtw says:
    (link)

Now that Bradshaw is no longer a viable RB2 I need to add an RB flier. Picking up Ellington and need to make space on the bench.

Who would you drop: Vincent Brown, Sanders, Roberts, Randle or Pierre Thomas(but Thomas kind of defeats the purpose)??

I start WR: Dez, Cruz, S. Johnson

We can start 4 wr and 1 rb or 3 and 2. Would you even add Ellington given the run and shoot option?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Assuming Randle is Rueben, I’ll say Vincent Brown and I’d pick up Ellington, yes.

      • Jtw says:
        (link)

        @Sky:

        Yes, Rueben.

Thanks! Now that I have Ellington would your trade Stevie Johnson for Mendenhall?

RB: Morris, Bradshaw, Ivory, P, Thomas, Ellington
WR: Dez, Cruz, S. Johnson, Sanders, Randle, Roberts

        Standard scoring

        • Sky

          Sky says:

          I wouldn’t

    • Sky

Think it depends on how well he performs

  40. Captain K says:
    (link)

    @sky

I noticed you have Snelling ranked decently high.

    Why the optimism?

I was torn among starting either Snelling, Powell, or Ivory.

    • CramYourCatcherQuestionUpYourCramhole says:
      (link)

@Captain K: I’m pretty sure he’ll get any goal line carry. And the goal line they should see.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Because he’ll be the lead back for the Falcons. He proved that last weekend. Don’t think he loses much except for third down passing roles he might sit some.

  41. JohnRamboJr says:
    (link)

I’m taking your advice and making a move to buy Brady low…
    His Brady and Lacy.
My Stafford and w/ your wk3 rankings and future projections in mind, choose 2 of the following to package. C Givens, A Jeffery, J. Snelling, Antonio Brown. I’m leaning towards Snelling/Givens combo. Brown hasn’t done anything yet.
Doable or am I asking too much by throwing Lacy into the mix?
Is Brady for Stafford a push? W/ Lacy’s concussion, is he worth the risk?

    Thanks in advance,
    JRJ

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Think you should be getting more then an RB who might get put in a timeshare when he gets back from giving him Stafford…I wouldn’t do that.

Yeah, kinda felt like a reach

How do you justify choosing the Pats D over streaming the Vikings this week? Vikings have been on fire, especially with 7 sacks against the Bears last week!

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Do what you gotta do. Minnesota is the 28th worst in total defense this year.

  44. CramYourCatcherQuestionUpYourCramhole says:
    (link)

@Fratstar: 7 sacks? Try one. They got to Cutler once.

  45. Willy says:
    (link)

    Hey Sky,

I know T-Rich is somewhat a mystery right now and that’s why he is ranked so low this week, but no way i can start a bench guy over him. I guess I’m going to gamble with his upside and hope for the best! I would assume he’d be playing with a chip on his shoulder!!

Now in my flex spot, I currently have Lamar Miller there, who I think bounced back nicely after a poor week 1. Should i consider one of the following for that spot instead of Miller?

    1. Joique Bell
    2. Brian Harline
    3. James Starks

    Thanks Sky!

    • Sky

      Sky says:

    • Sky

Oops, meant with the RBs! I’d start RBs over WRs. Go with those rankings.

      • Willy says:
        (link)

@Sky: okay, sorry about that Sky… I’ll stick with Lamar… The stupid Yahoo player projections have me second guessing and I guess I just need re-assurance. they have Starks and Bell projected to get me more points than Lamar. Anyway, thanks and good luck this week!

        • Sky

          Sky says:

I’m having trouble figuring out who to start this week any advice. Below is my current roster:

    QB: T Brady
    WR: Steve Smith
    WR: V Jackson
    RB: A Peterson
    RB: C. Johnson
    TE: Julius Thomas
    K: B Walsh
    D: Denver
    W/T: ABoldin

    BN: C Fleener
    BN: K Moreno
    BN: C Kaepernick
    BN: Andre Roberts
    BN: B Green-Ellis
    BN: C. Shorts

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I think minus your flex, my rankings above cover this question pretty well. I’d be starting Moreno in flex.

  47. Keith says:
    (link)

Vick and Cobb for McCoy and Cam…….I’m getting Cam/McCoy

RB’s now: Charles, SJax, Snelling, D. Wilson

WR’s now: Cobb, Decker, Hartline, Hilton

WR is 20 yds per point so it’s pretty much a RB league.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      I’d take the McCoy side.

  48. Swagger Jackers says:

    • Sky

      Starks

  49. Mike says:
    (link)

Who starts at QB rest of the season once Weeden is healthy.. Hoyer or Weeden? any clue?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Hoyer hasn’t even played yet. I have zero clue.

  50. Rocky says:
    (link)

    Sky,

Down on Vick this week and still at the helm of the Cam fan club, eh? Own them both in one league and likely will be sitting Cam until I see signs of life, though the Giants are a mess. In another legaue, having trouble not starting Vick over Matty Ice after he’s led me a 2-0 start. Kind of want to ride the Vick train until the inevitable injury. KC’s D has been great against the QB so far, but is Vick/Philly’s offense approaching being matchup-proof (less Seattle) or are you waiting for a slightly larger sample size? Also, if Ray Rice can’t go this week, does Pierce see a bump the rankings? I would slot him in around 13…

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

TNF has been a fantasy football hole for points since last year. Very few games have scored what people would expect. I’m not down on Vick this week, I’m down on TNF.

If Ray-Ray can’t go he gets a bump. Would have to evaluate at that time, though. Can’t tell you where right now.

  51. the imp says:
    (link)

I know your down on RG3. What about you ‘Hawks’ Russell? Who would you rather have ROS?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Trust Wilson’s health more moving forward. Think he’ll come around but he’s probably now a QB10-12 rather than as high as I have him unless Seattle’s gameplan changes (and I doubt it does).

      • the imp says:
        (link)

@Sky: I ask because Russell got dropped when Rivers was picked up and will clear waivers tonight. I know it goes way against your 1QB philosophy, but I’m tempted to use Bradshaw’s roster spot to pick up the third QB (assuming he makes it to my spot) as the best available player in the league and then trade RG3 and/or VIck….of course, I’ve been trying to trade for a couple weeks now…but maybe I’d reduce my asking prices a little to take advantage of waiver scrounging.
This is a dumb idea, right?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

          I wouldn’t do that.

          • the imp says:
            (link)

            @Sky:
            Thanks!
Ha, I knew you’d say that. You’ve only told me one of my dumb ideas was smart…and it was dumb afterall.
So then do you agree that it is Powell/Ivory…Ellington…CLE RBs…for the RBs on the wire? I assume you’d drop Bradshaw for the NYJ options at least?

            • Sky

              Sky says:
              (link)

@the imp: I don’t like Powell but the Jets do. Ivory/Ellington/Powell/Cle RBs. Powell’s just safe and boring. Other two are just better players.

  52. ROS Le’Veon or Law Firm

  53. Just Win says:
    (link)

Would you drop Zach Sudfeld for Heath Miller ? I can only start one TE and I already have Owen Daniels

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

In a PPR it’s a reasonable drop but would like to see what a healthy Sudfeld does this weekend if he plays.

      • @Sky: ROS Le’Veon or Law Firm

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Le’Veon for upside. BJGE is just gonna be frustrating to own even if he keeps the lion’s share of touches for the Bengals

  54. FillyP says:
    (link)

    D. Rich for Torrey Smith? Dude wants Murray, but that’s not happening. Need WR help bad.. I’m running Nelson/Edelman/Randle with Roddy White on the bench until he’s healthy.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

If you have RB depth, it’s fair. Not high on Torrey but like him in that trade for you.

    • frankgrimes says:
      (link)

@FillyP: Id keep looking hard to say without seeing your other RBs

      • FillyP says:
        (link)

        @frankgrimes:

I’m not high on him or the Ravens offense, either, but it’s a gun shy league. Not a lot of trading.

My RB’s are Martin, CJ2K, Murray, D. Rich, Mendenhall.

My WR’s are Nelson, Edelman, Randle, R. White, Britt, Streater. Pretty terrible with the Roddy injury. 12 team PPR 0.5pts/rec.

        • frankgrimes says:
          (link)

@FillyP: I’d do it with those RBs. I’d look for a better WR5 than streater.

  55. WakeNbake says:

Why Steve Smith over Dwayne Bowe this week? Im a Smith fan but you dont think Bowe has more upside? I know players usually stink on Thursday night football but Im having trouble benching Bowe at FLEX for Stevie esp after Stevie didnt do much against BUF last week..

    • frankgrimes says:
      (link)

@WakeNbake: Not high on Bowe since Smith isn’t a deep ball passer. Last week doesn’t matter. Smith should be ranked higher this week.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

‘I know players usually stink on Thursday Night Football’ is your answer. And btw, these are the season stats to date and NYG has given up plenty of air mail this year:

      Bowe: 8/86/1

      Smith: 11/103/1

I agree with you on Thursday games. I see you have Smith ranked ahead of Cutler. So why do I not want to start him over Cutler this week in 2QB league? Am I high or do you not have Gordon ranked?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Cutler is just Cutler. Had a reasonable matchup last week and still managed to throw 2 INT. Smith is just safer is all.

Stupid code. I’ve updated it a million times. Sometimes it takes two seconds to update, sometimes it takes forever. Gordon’s on there, just really low. No Trent and a new QB. Just a bad situation. Rather find out how he does with him on my bench this week.

In a shallow 8 Team league (1 QB league), if you had Wilson and Romo, would you be worried? Or would you be looking to make a deal for someone else?

A lot of guys have two stud QBs, so I was looking at maybe trying to swipe a backup, but don’t know if it’s worth it to bust up everything else. Here’s my roster:

    QB – Wilson
    WR – Green
    WR – Dez
    WR – Garcon
    RB – Forte
    RB – Gore
    TE – Graham
    W/R – Decker
    W/R/T – Moreno
    BN – Romo
    BN – Gordon
    BN – D.Wilson
    BN – D.Rich
    BN – Gio
    BN – Bennett

0.5 PPR. Passing TD 4 points. Rushing and receiving TD 6 points. 3 point bonus at 250 yards passing/85 yards receiving/100 yards rushing. 6 point bonus at 335 yards passing/135 yards receiving/150 yards rushing.

It really depends on what you have to give up to get a ‘better’ QB.

      • Wilsonian says:
        (link)

@Sky: @Sky: I’m trying to sell the Gore name. Thinking about offering him and Romo for Stafford and Mathews. OR Gore/Romo/Gordon for Murray/Kaepernick/Buc Williams.

        • Sky

          Sky says:

I wouldn’t accept either if I was the other team.

          • Wilsonian says:
            (link)

@Sky: I didn’t say they were great trades for the other team. I meant for myself. The guy with Stafford has Rodgers so I’m hoping he likes Gore more than you do. And the guy with Kaepernick has Cam. I may leave Buc Williams out of it and just try to pick someone else up off of waivers.

            • Sky

              Sky says:
              (link)

I assume if you’re asking me about trades, you’re asking if they’re reasonable. Of course they’re good for you. They don’t look good for them. Ergo, it probably doesn’t go through.

              • Wilsonian says:
                (link)

@Sky: Yup. That would be the case. Also wondering if you would just ride it out with Wilson and Romo. Still got Bradford, Rivers, Skwab, Cutler, Flacco, Tannehill on the wire.

    Hi again,

I just completed my first trade of the season… I wanted to upgrade my TE from Gates to something better and not give up a lot in the process.

I traded Gates (TE1) and Joique Bell (bench RB5) for Greg Olsen and Bryce Brown…

My logic in doing this was simply to upgrade my main TE, using bench player Bell to upgrade his bench player Brown. Do you think the TE upgrade was good enough to sacrifice RB depth a bit for the bye weeks?

Looking forward to your comments, thanks!

    • Sky

      Sky says:

It’s a reasonable trade. Not a big Gates guy and Olsen looks to be a heavy target for Cam. Go for it.

    QB: Luck
RB: Murray, Sproles, J Bell, Tate, Pierce

With Mendenhall missing practices, are you on board with Ellington as an RB6 flier? At the expense of Broyles, whose talent I love and I was hoping would be in the mix for my WR3 slot (with Sanders, Randle, etc) but still can’t get into a game?

good afternoon, Sky! hey if fitz does not play sunday, do you put andre roberts above the stevie styles / t.y. / marlon brown area? i plan on starting brown opposite calvin johnson this week and putting t.y. in flex, but i really like roberts there (assuming no fitz). thoughts? good luck this weekend!

    • Sky

No Gronk on the TE rankings? And Edelman at 50+-ish? I question the math. Or is this a case of being stranded on Revis Island the entire game?

I get bumping Edelman down if Gronk plays. But it seems you assume he doesn’t because he’s not ranked.

And your Ty Hilton sleeper is looking better with T-Rich drawing some attention in the box! Well done, but it steals some of your braggin rights! If anyone is selling any Indy offensive player, I’m buying. Maybe I can flip Edelman for Hilton…

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

FantasyPros is frustrating. I make a change in standard and it affects the PPR and half the time it’s way the F’ off. No way I rank him 26th in standard that it should move him down in PPR but it did. I’ve moved Edelman back to where he should be for PPR and have reminded them to get their $hit together. Gronk is most likely not playing anyways.

TY Hilton had 124 yards on 6 catches without T. Rich last week. He was fine either way. I’d make that move for Hilton.

fantasy ethics/morals question…..i’m commissioner in my wife’s family fantasy football league…the owners are pretty new to fantasy football, a few playing for the very first time…I’ve structured it to keep it as competitive and close as possible (top 6 out of 10 for playoff teams, waivers based on ranking, etc)…I will only trade with 2 other managers because I feel like I could easily manipulate anyone else

so, last night a trade for t-rich for eddie royal was accepted…I of course knew that this was a very unfair trade…the last place team was giving up t-rich to the first place team, btw…so I voted against the trade (we need 4 to veto) and then typed out a formal protest stating why they aren’t equal in value…the royal owner stated he meant to include m. bennet in the trade as well, and ended up voting against it…the t-rich owner said it was her first trade ever and clearly wasn’t thinking right, so she also voted against it…and another voted against it…so it was vetod

I was unsure how to handle this situation, being the first unfair trade in our league…while this league is more for fun and bragging rights, I still don’t want experienced players picking apart the newer managers…in a competitive league were everyone is experienced I normally only vote against if I suspect collusion

was this the proper way to handle this?…should I have just let it happen, and then pillage the other teams too?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

First off, stop playing in the same league as your spouse. You’re setting yourself up for disaster!

The thing is you set up a league that has both levels of players. If you want a for fun league with a bunch of newbs, you can’t have it be 50/50 or if you do, you have to make sure the experienced owners realize it’s a training ground league for the new players.

The veto system is clear and is available to use and it was set up. It’s just as much a part of the rules as your scoring system. You used it appropriately because enough people vetoed the trade. Moving forward, it would probably be wise to talk with the experienced managers you’ve invited and set an idea of expectation but this type of league is gonna lend itself to this type of problem more often than not.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

You’re downgrading a little at RB and upgrading at WR a lot as long as Fitz’ hamstring is ok. He’s missed two straight days of practice. If you have any WR depth where you can sit Fitz until he’s right, it’s a good move.

Also, I have moreno going in my rb2 at the moment, i could swap him for any of the RBs mentioned above. Im not so sure about him, but its turrible oakland and denver will be up most likely so run, run, run.

Normally I’d say the RB but think even if it’s 14-17 tonight, DJax is a big enough part of his offense to make that moot. Go with him. By my rankings, you’re making the right choice on Moreno.

You’ve got bigger problems, Prezzii…like when I play you in our league! Wait are we playing eachother this week? I seriously don’t even know what half my teams look like now…so many…so lost…

@Sky: cool, got djax in there now but i just hate using WRs in my flex. AND on TNF.. But hes going crazy so i doubt it matters what two letters is next to his name.

Completely agree. Well, not me having a problem facing you! :) so many teams.. its a bitch to get them all ready to go on thursday.. especially when youve been too busy to really look at football since monday..AND im trying to win a ship in baseball still which is neck-and-neck! Ughh.. thanks for the help doode! Now to rest my brain…

Well – and I’m only half joking – you should put him in a WR spot. You never know what might happen between now and Sunday. Always fill a TNF guy in your non-flex spot just in case.

Yeah, I’m looking forward to the game tonight to take my mind off my impending H2H keeper playoff loss. Seriously, near the top in every category all year. This week, E5 goes down, WIlin Rosario and Arenado go DTD on me on my bench and Avisail Garcia and his wife apparently got jiggy 9 months ago cuz he hasn’t played since Saturday for a damn baby! I’m getting boned worse then Jenna Jamison over here…but good luck to you!

@Sky: yeah i do, but its aj green and victor cruz in my WR spots. its gonna take a brutal injury to knock them out.

Yeah that does blow… Couple shots and some football should ease the pain! Baseball has been a roller coaster for me too. I lost Pujols, cargo, nellie cruz, felix, j-hey and prolly a couple more that im not going to try to remember cause typing all those names made me weep…. haha i was dominating this league, then the injuries hit when i was pretty much a lock in the playoffs.. Ive been using toothpaste and scotch tape to hold it together since. but good luck to you as well, Football and baseball!

Deep league, too, where we start 2 at every IF position, 2 UTIL and 5 OF. Twelve team. What a way to go out. Bar, save me!

              Good luck back!

Just curious to the thought process ranking Ivory over Powell? Like the upside better? Powell has been getting the receptions and the TD last week. Any change to that in PPR format? Unfortunately, I have to pick one of them to start this week

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Ivory ran better and looked better in the game Powell got a TD. They basically split carries. Eventually, I see that being a 70-30 split in favor of Ivory or perhaps better. TD could’ve gone to Ivory last week and we’d be having a different conversation. Ivory’s just the better player, that should shine through eventually.

Right, so you’re asking about TRich and Williams in your Flex…so who’s your RB2 behind Spiller right now? J. Bell? I’d probably put Williams in as your RB2 and see about Bush’s injury looks like on Sunday. TRich in Flex for that reason, then.

      I think it will.

Just depends on what RB takes over back there. Cleveland will be playing from behind most of the year because of this move (and because it’s Cleveland) so he should still get plenty of targets/touches.

Ever think of doing a Flex ranking? I believe Razzball had one last year, although it always seemed to me that it would be more trouble to compile that it would be worth. However, it might cut down on the work you need to put into the comments (even more copy/paste “I ranked them above how I’d play them”).

Anyway, my question is Ivory or Stevie 0.5ppr for my flex? Thanks for the advice as always.

    • Sky

You’ll notice there are plenty of people who still ask about the positional ranks anyways so I’d still get asked. I’d say about 25% don’t even read the title, let alone the article. Just click the ‘comments’ button and type. And really, it’s hard enough compiling these rankings in between all the writing I do and my actual day job. No way I’d have time to do a standard and PPR flex

    • Sky

      Sky says:

I have to update the code again. He’s 19 for PPR, 26 for standard.

Nice thanks, my guess was right on the money.

      @I like turtles:

Around 18-20 is feeling right for ppr? I’m starting him over Wallace but not sure I would start him over Jordy. Sound about right?

      • Sky

        Sky says:
        (link)

@I like turtles: Yeah, noted below. No longer using their PPR system. Too borked. Reads from standard and then modifies accordingly. Knocked Edelman down to 54 in PPR…twice…

Sky – quick question – why so high on Mike Williams? From what I can tell he’s drawing Dennard in coverage who was just graded top 5 in coverage by PFF. Was thinking about starting Kendall Wright over him but checked your rankings and saw you’re high on Big Mike this week

  104. Sky

    Sky says:

We will no longer be using the PPR from FantasyPros as their system hasn’t quite perfected the duality offered. Moving forward, weekly ranks will only be standard; this is all we will provide from them on Razzball until this issue is addressed.

@Sky: damn shame. now you’ll have more nitty gritty questions concerning if certain guys would move up or down 5 spots or so.

which 3 do you like best rest of season ROS?

      Broyles over Britt ROS.

Need trade advice..12-team PPR league (0.5 per reception). We start 3 WR’s as well as the flex. My WR’s are Marshall, A. Brown, Andre Roberts, Michael Floyd. So obviously I start Marshall & Brown, then since it’s PPR I’ve been going with Roberts.

I was offered Nicks for Gore straight up. Right now I start Martin & Forte at RB, then for flex I’ve been playing matchups with Gore & Sproles. On bench I have Ivory (& Vereen). What do you think? I feel like Nicks becomes my #2 which makes Brown a pretty good #3, then I don’t have to play roulette with Gore & Sproles each week. I guess my only hesitation is Nicks’ health & injury history..though since he’s in a contract year then those guys always seem to stay on the field.

Not huge on that deal. Would gamble and see if Gore can have a big game Sunday vs the weak Colts DEF and then try to sell

With Pierce starting now, which one are you sitting?
    Pierce
    Dangelo Williams
    Murray

I freaking hate Demarco Murray, hate that I own him, so I’d have no problem sitting him against a stout Rams D. Just need some support.

you really have mfloyd (ari) lower than 79 and behind roberts? just checking, because if so, do I want any of avant/holliday/hankerson/patterson/hill/martin (HOU)/mccluster/streater/ginn/woods more. This is a PPR league with .5 pts per 10 return yards. ginn/patterson/martin/mccluster/holliday are all return yards guys, and patterson/martin/holliday(not at home, with all of the touchbacks) get a lot of free yards per game from that. Damn shame cobb/sanders have been taken off their units.

@goodfold2: i’m sorry, i found him, you just have him a LOT higher than i would’ve thought. I was having problems deciding between sanders/jennings, now it’s obv your rankings have floyd higher. thanks.

I see you’ve changed course since earlier in the week and now have bradford higher than luck. SF def likely the cause. i’m guessing if i have daniels and t-gonz, along with roberts/jennings/f.jax with one flex spot i should play both TE’s.

@Sky: with amendola/MJD/wilson as opening day starters roster has gotten weird. still have givens/peterson/cook/d-rich (too many STL people, i thought they were backups). when in doubt don’t go against SEA def. bench MJD.
