Even though I’m not one to pat myself on the back (actually, I am), Razzball has been on an upward curve, bringing some sort of conglomerate synergistic metamorphosis (as they say in the corporate world), providing you an ever-improving ranking accuracy year after year. How do we do it? No clue. It could be dark wizardry. It could be indigestion. It could even be your mother. But I have to admit, this year is going to be daunting, if only because the expectations we’ve placed on ourselves here at Razzball Football are at an all time high (just like my college years). Going from 31st overall to 22nd in Weekly Fantasy Football accuracy is one thing. But going from 22nd to the top-10 in the entire nation last season is quite another. And then on top of that, to finish third overall in our Draft Rankings last year… well, it’d be folly to try and say “Yes, we’re going to try even more, (more better if you believe in remedial English)”, but yeah, I’m going to say it… We’re going to do more better. (My English teacher just placed a bounty on me.) With that said, and my parentheses key broken, here are your 2017 Fantasy Football IDP Defensive Back Rankings…
ADP – Average Draft Position
No love for Peppers in Cleveland?
@Boobam13: Any rookie intrigues me, especially at the safety position, but I haven’t seen him anywhere in IDP rankings at the moment. I want to be aggressive, but I’m not sure he fits in the top-50 DB area yet.
@Jay:
Haven’t seen him anywhere on anyone’s ranknings and was just curious what I was over looking or over valuing him too much – I can easily see top 50 more like top 25 – a hybrid in that defense not coming off the field, returning punts – thanks for the insight, keep it coming
@Boobam13: Totally! And yeah, these aren’t static rankings, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him there as we get closer to the season.
I had Reshad Jones and Keanu Neal written in pen as my DB keepers, then I see Cyprien as your #2DB. Damn you! lol
Im concerned that his one year of big plays in an aberration instead of the new normal. Then again he’s moving to a worse front 7 and could up his tackles. Although Tennessee SS’s havent been tackle hogs in recent years. Is that scheme or talent issues?
How do I dump Jones or Neal for Cyprien? Jones was most consistent DB I’ve ever seen and Neal looks like he’ll be a star for many years
@MrMojoRisin: Yeah, hard to disagree with your points, and I’m nervous about relying on the big play, but IDP’s are won and lost by those big plays, especially in the back where it’s more boom or bust.
I think it’s more talent, but sometimes that line gets blurred so easily.
I would wait until the very last minute, and when the time comes, I think in your case, mixing youth with stability would work here.
@MrMojoRisin: yeah i have NO idea why consensus suddenly moved this far off on reshad jones MIA. he didn’t do anything to remove himself from the top 2 or 3. only part i agree with jaywrong on about the big plays is the back end guys you’d want to gamble on that. unless your scoring is like sacks are 3-1 to tackles i’m going tackle hogs all day everyday for any DB/LB.
