This is the worst article to write because no one wants to see rookies flop in their first year. These rookies will give their maximum effort, but sadly, will leave you wanting more. Busts are defined by rookies who will not provide their draft value in dynasty formats or rookies drafted within the Top 100 in redraft formats.

2024 Fantasy Football Rookie Busts
Dynasty Formats
- Player:Â Adonai Mitchell
- Team: Indianapolis Colts
- Position: WR
- Dynasty Rookie Rank: 17
Mitchell dropped to the Colts in the second round of the NFL draft for reasons still unknown. I don’t love his landing spot with the Colts who already have two good pass catchers in Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs. His future QB, Anthony Richardson, has only played in two full games and didn’t necessarily light the stat sheet in the passing department averaging 211.5 passing yards, 1.5 TDs, and 0.5 INTs with a 56.4 completion percentage. Indy’s offense is trending to be run-oriented behind Jonathan Taylor. It’s hard to imagine Mitchell gaining a rewarding fantasy role in this offense to justify a second-round selection in dynasty formats.
- Player: Roman Wilson
- Team:Â Pittsburgh Steelers
- Position: WR
- Dynasty Rookie Rank: 31
This selection is due to the history of his current OC, Arthur Smith. Over the past five seasons, spanning two teams, Smith has never ranked higher than 19th in pass attempts. The Steelers’ offense is primed to run the ball and when they choose to throw, they have their top pass catchers in George Pickens, Jaylen Warren, and Pat Freirmuth. As the possible WR2 and fourth pass catcher in Pittsburgh, Wilson is being drafted as early as the second round but generally in the third round in dynasty formats. This is way too high for a player in an offensive system in which the WR2 has averaged 48 targets over three seasons.
Redraft Formats
- Player: Xavier Worthy
- Team: Kansas City Chiefs
- Position: WR
- Dynasty Rookie Rank: 9 | ADP: 93
I will preface I am a Patrick Mahomes homer, but I do not see the value in the eighth or ninth round in redraft leagues. Worthy is at best the fifth passing option behind Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, Marquise Brown, and Isaiah Pacheco. Don’t forget that Mecole Hardman is back on a one-year deal after his heroics in the postseason. If you rely on Worthy to be a flex starter, you will be highly disappointed as he figures to be a boom-or-bust player. If you dig into the Razzball ADP you can select Josh Allen’s WR1 or WR2 in the same round. I agree with Rudy’s projection of finishing as WR68.
- Player: Rome Odunze
- Team: Chicago Bears
- Position: WR
- Dynasty Rookie Rank: 6 | ADP: 83
He might be the best route-runner in this WR rookie class but he does not provide fantasy value in redraft leagues based on his ADP. As the third or fourth option in the new-look Bears’ offense, what are drafters expecting out of the former Husky? Razzball ADP has Odunze ranked as the WR40 with a price tag in the seventh to the eighth round. Last season Jaxon Smith-Njigba finished the season as WR48 in total points and WR60 on a per-game basis in PPR formats as the third option in Seattle under Bears’ new OC Shane Waldron. Odunze is currently projected to finish as WR69. Save yourself the headache and look for a sleeper RB in this range.
