After introducing the rookies in our last article, this week I dive into my favorite rookie sleeper and the only two rookie quarterbacks to crack the Top 150! Of course, things can change over the next few months, but early camp reports have been glowing so far for these rookies. This along with the landing spots has me intrigued by their prospects as soon as 2024. So, let’s dive into why these players should be on your fantasy radars next season.

THE Rookie Sleeper…. and Quarterbacks!

  • Player: Ladd McConkey
  • Team Los Angeles Chargers
  • Overall Ranking: 98 (ADP 97)

Ladd McConkey falls into a solid spot as he will likely take over as the primary inside receiver role. Not only has Keenan Allen flourished with Justin Herbert on the inside, but even Anquan Boldin had a resurgence in the slot under Jim Harbaugh back in San Francisco in 2013-2014. In those two seasons, Boldin finished as a Top 20 WR as the primary slot guy in this offense.

That being said, I currently view McConkey as slightly behind Josh Palmer in the pecking order. However, when Herbert has had two healthy WRs, he has supported two top 40 options for fantasy in 2021 and 2022. This is why McConkey is a buy for me at his current ADP.

  • Player: Jayden Daniels
  • Team Washington Commanders
  • Overall Ranking: 99 (ADP 110)

It’s hard not to view Jayden Daniels as the next Robert Griffin III. Both players were drafted 2nd overall, landed in Washington, and are known as dual-threat QBs with blazing speed. Griffin hit the ground running his first season finishings as a Top 10 QB his rookie year.

New Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury isn’t afraid to use his QBs in the run game as Kyler Murray averaged between 30-51 rushing yards per game. In his rookie season under Kingsbury, Murray finished as the QB12 in PPG while rushing for over 500 yards. Daniels upside is immense with solid weapons around him so I will continue to be slightly ahead of ADP as long as it doesn’t get out of hand.

  • Player: Caleb Williams
  • Team Chicago Bears
  • Overall Ranking: 127 (ADP 100)

Caleb Williams is set up to make an immediate impact for fantasy football in 2024. He has an elite three WR set with D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen, and Rome Odunze to go along with a solid TE1. This group plus his draft pedigree leads me to believe he has Andrew Luck/Baker Mayfield/C.J Stroud rookie season upside. Luck, Mayfield, and Stroud had between 22-23 fantasy points. Those numbers would have put them between QB8-11 last season.

New Bears OC Shane Waldron did help Geno Smith post a top-eight season in 2022. Smith followed up that 2022 season with a QB17 season just last year. Even though history has shown examples that Williams could emerge as a Top 12 player in year one, his Top 8-12 ceiling doesn’t justify his ADP which is why I am lower on him for now.
