Remind me of a week this column did not lead with a rash of injury news.  I’ll wait.

Now that that is over since nobody could come up with a week that was not injury forward.  My Packers jumped back on the injury train two weeks after losing Tucker Kraft when Jordan Love went down early followed by Josh Jacobs being ruled out shortly thereafter.  Thankfully, Love returned to lead the Pack to victory against the Giants and Jacobs appears to have avoided a serious injury.  Early reports out of Green Bay is that Jacobs has a decent chance to play Sunday against the Vikings.  Drake London also sustained a strained PCL meaning he will miss at least one week.

Michael Penix was placed on IR Monday morning.  Aaron Rodgers broke his hand/wrist.  Calvin Ridley is done for the season with a broken fibula.  Not sure any of these three injuries change the trajectory of your fantasy teams but they do need to be mentioned for Super Flex and deep leagues.

While looking into your waiver wire for Week 12, do not forget the Broncos, Chargers, Dolphins, and Commanders are headed to Cancun this weekend.

WAIVERS:

ADD OF THE WEEK = Kenneth Gainwell – 33% rostered makes the top of the list this week for a couple reasons.  (1) He is in a run first offense that just saw its starting QB go down with an injured wrist.  (2) It’s the AFC North so anything can happen with the weather.  (3) Running backs are at more premium than Wide Receivers.  (4) RB1 for Pittsburgh injured his ankle in Week 11.

QB: The name here is clearly Jacoby Brissett – 34% rostered for the Cardinals.  This guy is creating quite the QB controversy in the desert with his recent play.  Since becoming the starter in Week 6, he has eclipsed the 250 passing yard mark in each game while also throwing two TDs per game.  His fantasy points have been 21+ in each week.  I do not see him throwing less with the lack of a true running game.

RB: Emmanuel Wilson – 9% rostered will carry the load in Green Bay if Josh Jacobs is limited at all.  Wilson has proven the ability to play well when called upon and I am confident the offense will morph enough to play to his strengths.

Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:

Trey Benson – 59% rostered is about to come off the waiver wire and almost all fantasy teams need help at RB.  Add Benson as depth and you just might find yourself starting him often

Tyler Allgeier – 33% rostered.  Another week, another TD.  What more do you want to see?  The starting QB just hit the IR and I am not sure Raheem Morris is ready to place the offensive burden on the shoulders of Kirk Cousins.

Kareem Hunt – 62% rostered was dropped in almost 10% leagues while on bye.  A week of rest will help him moving forward.  His schedule is not ideal moving forward, but if you need a starting RB, he could be your guy.

Bhayshul Tuten – 30% rostered looked fantastic in Week 11 until he had his ankle rolled up on which saw him miss the end of the blowout win.  If he is able to go in Week 12, look for a solid split between him and ETN making Tuten flex worthy with four byes occurring.

Troy Franklin – WR – 59% rostered saw nine targets in Week 11 and should continue to receive volume after the bye week.  I have him listed here as a player to watch just in case another owner drops him for coverage during the bye week.

Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:

Michael Wilson – 48% rostered is my top WR add for the week after putting up 18-15-185-0 in Week 11.  If Marvin Harrison misses more time, Wilson will continue to see massive volume in this pass happy offense.  Even when Harrison is back, Wilson has established himself as a clear WR2 for Arizona.

Tez Johnson – 32% rostered almost doubled his roster percentage this week and we witnessed why.  The former Ducks player just dropped two TDs on the Patriots.  Baker loves the kid, and we will not see Chris Godwin or Bucky Irving anytime soon.

Alec Pierce – 49% rostered is clearly being slept on in over half of leagues.  He should be snatched up in all formats and probably started as a WR3 or FLEX, especially in PPR formats, coming off his bye week.  He has outperformed all Colts WRs not named Michael Pittman and is ascending each week.

Christian Watson – 32% rostered appears to be a shiny new toy for Jordan Love.  Ride the wave where it takes you with this Packers offense.  With the injuries rising, we need to glom on to any viable options and Watson seems to be a good bet to continue to produce.

TE: Juwan Johnson – 47% rostered out up four straight double-digit performances prior to his Week 11.  I expect more of the same coming out of the bye as he looks to have a good connection with the rookie QB, Tyler Shough, and does not have a ton of competition for targets outside of Chris Olave.

You must love what you see with Cade Otton – 42% rostered.  Against a tough New England defense, Otton put up 9-82-0 as Baker looked for him early and often in the middle of the field.  Otton is not a game breaker.  He is much more of a catch and fall down TE, but can get up the field enough for a team that appears likely to throw much more than run at least until Bucky is back.

There is no better time to get hot, so work your waiver wire and make the playoffs.  Once you are in the dance, anything can happen.  Keep working to win this thing! There is no need to rush to drop any specific player.  Start by looking at your roster to determine if you have an obvious drop candidate.  If you do, then move over to your waiver wire.  Do not make a move just to make a move.
