It was quite a week for tight ends in Week 4, as 19 scored at least 10 PPR points, and a 20th narrowly missed.

A few names we’ve been expecting to see but haven’t up to Week 4; I’m looking at YOU, Colston Loveland. And YOU, Tucker Kraft. The Raiders had THREE here (Brock Bowers, Michael Mayer, and Ian Thomas) and dropped 48.0 PPR points on the Chiefs, knocking KC down to 31st vs the position. Six TEs had at least 10 targets, and T.J. Hockenson led the week without a touchdown, corralling all 13 of his targets. On the other end, Trey McBride had volume, but did not do much with it. Elijah Higgins fell one yard short of making this group an even 20.

McBride continues to lead the way, but Kittle is closing fast. Any concern of lingering effects from Kittle’s torn Achilles at the end of the 2025 season was put to rest on the 56-yard touchdown he had in last Sunday’s game. Mike Gesicki and Jake Ferguson know that TDs are a TE’s best friend. With Travis Kelce on bye this week, Hockenson makes a nice fill-in, and Gesicki is a less-expensive one. I’d stay away from Michael Mayer for this week as New England has been stymying tight ends all season. If you need to go deeper, check the availability of Pat Freiermuth.

I cut it off this week at TD scorers. Tyson Bagent was the QB Loveland fans were waiting for. And the Jets were the team. Welcome back, Mark Andrews. Darren Waller could have made us look better by grabbing one of his targets and housing, but that’s wishcasting. McBride and Juwan Johnson did not bring in their lone RZ targets.

Here are the season-to-date RZ targets:

I cut it off at a three-target minimum. LaPorta has caught McBride in targets, has more fantasy points, and is therefore at the top. Loveland has the opportunities if not the results. Kittle leads in PPR points on 5 targets. Gunnar Helm speaks to the futility of the Titans’ passing game so far.

And now, the top 30 for Week 5, but first:

These rankings are for Week 5 games ONLY. If you want to speak about them, hit me up in the COMMENTS, which is also where I will post updates after Friday practice participation reports are finalized.

These rankings are for base PPR leagues: 1 point per reception, 1 point for 10 yards rushing/receiving, 6 points per touchdown, and -2 points per fumble lost. No premiums or bonuses.

I’ll give player, player’s team, opponent this week, home or road game (H/R), day of game, time of game (early (E), late (L), or night (N)), current projected team total (Imp Pts) per DraftKings, opponent’s 2026 rank vs. tight ends, PPR points per game (PPG), PPR scoring rank for the season (Rank), and percent rostered per FantasyPros (Rost %).

McBride’s and LaPorta’s teams meet this weekend, and the matchups for TEs are just too good to not have them 1-2.

Bowers slides to 3 as I’m giving the Patriots their due.

I have Kittle at 4, and I’m starting him where I have him, but the matchup worries me.

Likely slides in at 5 due to the matchups for Tyler Warren, Juwan Johnson, Harold Fannin Jr., Dalton Kincaid, and Kraft, who all face top-8 defenses in PPR against TEs.

I’m assuming Dallas Goedert is back this weekend. He practiced Wednesday, but it was limited, so eyes open to see if he makes the trip to London.

Loveland with Bagent buys a week in low-end TE1 territory.

I love Gesicki, Hockenson, and Freiermuth as bye week fill-ins this week if I’m desperate. Hopefully, you can get one. If not, hit me up in the comments.

I’m keeping an eye on Kenyon Sadiq’s and Noah Fant’s injury statuses this week. Fant missed the past game.

Of the rest, Tyler Higbee and Cade Otton are dirt cheap and have plus matchups.

The Thursday matchup, Buccaneers at Cowboys, is not exciting for the position, but Eagles at Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur in London could have appeal. Keep an eye on the weather: as I write, the forecast is positive.
