Well, that was… something.  Not a really exciting day, right? We waited months and months for three players to go over 100 yards receiving today and only two rushers to go over 100 yards as well.  We had a game in Green Bay where there should have been 800 points scored but neither team could get to 20.

Welcome to my weekly recap of the action we saw on Sunday.  So, I physically can’t watch every play of all 12 or 13 games that go on during the afternoon, but I do watch about 6.5 hours of Redzone every Sunday, so you could say that me and Andrew Siciliano are kind of a thing.  I’ll let you know how I interpret things that I see watching live and what I see in the box score.  I’m not going to bore you with paragraphs upon paragraphs on each game but, I assure you that you will know the trends that you need to know to make decisions for your lineup the next coming week.  Let’s start with the most exciting game from a fantasy stand point…

Welcome back to a football episode of the Razzblitz Podcast. My co-host Zach returns for a week one preview before his journey to Atlanta in an effort to escape Hurricane Irma.  Speaking of hurricanes, it’s been a rough hurricane season for our country, so be sure to give something back if you can afford it.  The best part of giving back during trying times is finding the charity that suits your cause.  Whether it be food and shelter, rebuilding efforts, or helping out the poor animals that are helpless in these situations.  When I find a cause that I believe in, I will be sure to post it on twitter, otherwise you can just give to J.J. Watt’s impressive fund!  For Harvey, I gave to Shea Serrano’s venmo effort that he opened up for a few days and he was able to raise $134,000 to give to seven different charities that he believed in and it was money well spent.

Anyways, we also discuss the Bucs-Dolphins cancellation, my fall out with Miko Grimes, and then we talk about players and match ups that we like from the Week 1 action.

If worst comes to worst, we are here to help! Special shout out to Zach, and hoping that even though he will be evacuated, the Hurricane destroys none of his belongings besides his awful laptop.

Just like that, it’s over. Another season of Game of Thrones is in the past with only six more episodes to look forward to in about 40 years.  We talked about the finale and we also power rank all seven of the season finales of Game of Thrones.  Incest, Bran, Little Finger, how do we want Game of Thrones to end? If we were all born geniuses we wouldn’t be drafting until this weekend for leagues that we pay into. Most of us are terribly impatient fantasy football players and for whatever reason need an extra week or two to stare at rosters that we can’t do anything with while top end wide receivers and running backs tear their ACLs making awkward cuts.  Julian Edelman, Spencer Ware, and Cameron Meredith are all players going anywhere from the early to middle rounds that have had their seasons ended before they even started and thousands of people have these players on their rosters because WE MUST DRAFT IN AUGUST BECAUSE AUGUST IS DRAFT MONTH.  MY FANTASY BASEBALL TEAM SUCKS AND I NEED A ROSTER TO LOOK FORWARD TO. Yeah, I’m the exact same way.  Whether it is due to an injury on the roster, a good preseason, or a player is just being overlooked, here are some players that are worth your picks and also some that aren’t worth your time based on recent changes in August.

IDP is becoming a big part of what we do at Razzball, especially in our new RCL IDP leagues.  Background knowledge of players to draft can set you apart and become a deciding factor in weekly wins and losses.  I’ve already written a general strategy piece about how and when to draft IDP spots.  Also the article emphasized recognizing how your league scores your IDP scoring, that is the most important part of all.  But, we haven’t really expressed what individual players to target.  If your IDP spots aren’t position specific, I’ll give you a few linebacker names that I really like.  If your IDP leagues are position specific, we will dive into a few defensive line and defensive back names as well.

Welcome back to the RazzBlitz Podcast.  Zach and I were joined by Mike (Mayer) Maher and Justin Mason of Friends With Fantasy Benefits (and pretty much everywhere else).  Along with the who I mentioned above, this league features heavy hitters such as Chris Towers (CBS), Tim Heaney (ESPN, RotoWire), Mo Brewington (Eagleswire on USAToday), Andy Singleton (Fantrax), the boys from The Point After Show, among a few other real experts. This league is 16 teams and the roster features: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 flex, 1 D/ST, and 1 kicker. Before the Podcast, check out how the boys at Razzball fared…

The Red Zone Channel is an absolute gift from the heavens.  If you don’t have DirecTV, you might not know that it’s a six-and-a half-hour broadcast on Sundays during the NFL season that switches from broadcast to broadcast of games where a team is in scoring territory.  It’s hosted by the legendary Andrew Siciliano and his abnormally large ears and it’s a dream come true for fantasy players.  There are few things more exciting than owning stock of a running on a certain team and yelling at the TV for the wide receiver on his team that’s sprinting down the field with the ball in his hand to get pushed out at the one or two so your running back can get the six points…

Draft season is upon us! Jay’s rankings are released, but in addition, a few of the other writers, myself included, are going to put out our Top-200 Rankings for your enjoyment… and sometimes anger.  I’m unveiling my rankings a little bit further down this page, but that’s not all, Zach and Tehol will be revealing their Top-200 Rankings as well in the coming days.  This is what you’re here for right? It’s not for our sexy words that flow like poetry throughout the preseason. Of course not! You want to know who is ahead of who on one simple click.  Nobody has time for anything else! And after the rankings I’ll go over some players of note!
