G’Mornin, degenerates! Donkey Teeth and I will be switching off the Sunday primers every week in accordance with whichever zodiac sign is dominant in the sky. Also, we don’t have any astrology books around and Grey doesn’t allow Google on the work computers at Razzball Headquarters, so we’ve decided that each Zodiac sign lasts one week. Last week, it was Donkinapoli, the celestial god of ruminating cloven-hoofed animals. This week, it’s Spookii, the celestial lord of pumpkin spice. Now that I’m powered by nutmeg and cloves, here’s the double scoop on the fantasy football news for today.

News and Plays for Week 2

Elijah Mitchell / Trey Sermon / Any 49er RB: Raheem Mostert left this plane of NFL existence for the year 2021, allowing the 18 backup RBs on the 49ers to vie for playing time. It sounds like Trey Sermon is not the guy you want; the other rookie, Elijah Mitchell, is favored for 60 yards and multiple receptions and is even money for a touchdown on the day. Congrats if you won the Elijah Mitchell FAAB lottery this week, but don’t forget that Jimmy G is playing for his career and went for 300 yards in the air last week after hearing the Trey Lance warning siren in the first quarter. Also, Kerryon Johnson just joined the west coast after training on the east coast, and as the “peace bringer,” we at Razzball cheer his arrival.

Kyler MurrayBig injuries to the MIN DEF, so for you standard fantasy footballers, let him run away with QB1 status and start all of those young Cardinals. But for you DFS players, Murray’s one of the top targets this week. If you’re gonna GPP, Russell Wilson has nearly the same upper-tier outcome while being used on fewer rosters (and Russ is a better broadcaster as well).

Leonard Fournette: Lenny led the Bucs RBs in touches last week and did…OK. But it’s week 1 and quite frankly, my jokes aren’t even up to par yet. Head coach Bruce Arians said he wants to get Ronald Jones moving and shaking sooner than later. But playoff Lenny earned the touches in week 1, and if regular season Lenny keeps moving in week 2 — a game where the Bucs are favored by nearly 2 touchdowns over the Falcons — you could be setting yourself up for a very nice RB play.

Damien Harris: Just like predicted, Harris got massive touches in week 1. He’s favored for around 16 touches this week against the Jets, and Harris is even money for a touchdown. Just like there should be a DH in baseball, D.H. should be on your football team.

New Orleans Saints: Basically the entire offensive coaching group got Covid and are off to quarantine. Luckily, Sean Payton can still be on the field and manage Famous Jameis. Adam Trautman — overlooked TE — was on the field all the time in week 1, and could be a great start for week 2.

Minnesota Vikings Passing Game: So the Vikings are coming off losing to one of the worst head coaches in NFL history, their DEF is a mess, and — I’m saying this as a homer — if I’m the GM of the Vikings, I’m going to tell head coach Mike Zimmer that his job might be in jeopardy if he doesn’t make a good showing against the Cardinals. Kyler Murray will likely slice and dice the Vikings DEF, meaning the Vikings passing game will need to come back in the second half of the game (which is what propelled Kirk Cousins into a top 6 2nd half of the season QB in 2020). Need a FLEX or GPP play? Try K.J. Osborn (9 targets, 7 receptions last week) or Tyler Conklin (4 targets, 4 receptions last week)

All right, drop your questions into the comments and let’s have an awesome week everybody!
