Part 1: Cowboys fans talkin’ a lot of smack on Social Media
The 2023 Dallas Cowboys got off to a nice 3-1 start to the season, showcasing a top-tier defense and mostly competent offense. Of course, with that comes a lot of trash-talking on Social Media. Many of you may know me as @LegendSports7 on X (formerly Twitter), and damn, have I been getting into it with Cowboys fans on there. They’ve been chirping, yapping, etc., all because of a little 3-1 start.
And my point has always been simple: This team is never going anywhere with Dak Prescott in the playoffs. Sure, they might be able to win one playoff game, but they aren’t winning the Super Bowl with Dak, and this has been proven time and time again.
And yet? Those Cowboys fans kept on talkin’ junk. We are clearly a top-three Super Bowl contender. We have the best defense in the NFL. This franchise has finally put it all together.
And they really believed this stuff! Talk about getting too wrapped up in just a handful of regular-season games.
But of course, all the yapping stopped after last night. Kyle Shanahan’s high-powered 49ers put the freakin’ hammer down on Cowboys Nation.
Part 2: Cowboys get completely exposed by the 49ers
Two of the most popular NFL franchises of all time. Sunday Night Football, everybody is watching. ‘Supposedly’ two of the league’s true Super Bowl Contenders.
And then the 49ers won FORTY-TWO TO TEN. Yikes. Talk about a major embarrassment on a national stage.
The Cowboys’ supposedly vaunted defense got totally exposed, allowing four passing touchdowns to Brock Purdy, without recording a single interception. Both Jordan Mason and Christian McCaffrey booked rushing touchdowns out of the Niners’ backfield.
And above all: George Kittle absolutely dominated the ‘Boys, to the tune of three touchdowns en route to San Fran’s 42-10 drubbing of Dallas.
On the flip side of the coin, where was the Cowboys’ supposedly ‘solid’ offense? Only 153 yards and THREE interceptions for Dak Prescott? Only 29 yards rushing for Tony Pollard? And the Cowboys’ leading receiver on the game – CeeDee Lamb – had less than 50 receiving yards?
Just a complete disaster for Dallas, end to end. Everything got exposed: their offense, defense and, of course, overrated head coach Mike McCarthy. Things literally couldn’t have gone any worse for Cowboys Nation.
Part 3: Being realistic about ‘our’ NFL teams
Y’all know I’m a Jets fan. I know the deal. I come along for the ride, and I’m in on the joke: The Jets haven’t made the playoffs in TWELVE seasons. It’s a disaster, but I’m also realistic – I know what to expect from ‘my’ NFL franchise.
So what about those Cowboys fans? Can’t they just see this team for what it is?
The 2023 Dallas Cowboys are going to go 10-7 or 11-6. We can pretty much see that five games into the season. Then, they’ll make the playoffs and lose early. But can Cowboys fans see this? Is it because they don’t want to, or do they really believe this team has some sort of secret gear it hasn’t accessed yet?
In the end, we all saw the reality last night: The San Francisco 49ers are a serious Super Bowl contender.
The Dallas Cowboys, on the other hand, are not.
