It’s been another WILD season in our ever-growing fantasy football community!

As we get toward the end – rushing and stiff-arming our way to everlasting fantasy glory — it’s time for us to take stock of the fantasy assets who brought happy tears to our eyes along the way.

Y’all know me, I hate introductions… so let’s dive right in!

Quarterback

MVP: Brock Purdy

Runners-Up: Dak Prescott and Josh Allen

There was still some hesitation on Brock Purdy coming into the season, wasn’t there?

One section of 49ers fans clearly wanted Trey Lance to get ‘his shot’ (prior to his trade to the Dallas Cowboys), while others were wondering if Sam Darnold could challenge Purdy in any sort of meaningful way.

But Purdy – the likely MVP of the league — would have none of that. He’s continued his great reads throughout the season, getting the ball out quickly and on time to his electric playmakers. The greatest compliment for young Purdy? He may scan the field better than any quarterback in the league right now. He gets through his progressions quickly and uses the entire field time and time again.

Fantasy wise? Well, he was simply drafted way, way too late. As the QB4 overall right now, relative to where he was drafted — sometimes even in the last round! — there’s no question Purdy is the fantasy MVP of his position this year.

As for the others, Allen is the QB1 right now – leading all players in total touchdowns – while Prescott fell too far in drafts, making his QB3 value immense. It was a strong year for top-end fantasy quarterbacks, indeed.

Running Back

MVP: Raheem Mostert

Runner-Up: Christian McCaffrey

Of course, this was an EXTREMELY tough call — but where exactly was Mostert drafted in your leagues?

We knew ‘CMC’ would be going in the top three overall picks – so, you get what you pay for — but twenty total touchdowns for Mostert, relative to where he was drafted?

You could easily make the argument that Mostert was the fantasy MVP of all positions this season. He’s always been a match made in heaven with Mike McDaniel, dating back to their days together with the San Francisco 49ers. That only continued in Miami this season, where Mostert cashed in at an incredible rate in the red zone.

Sure, McCaffrey is the better and ‘flashier’ player, but Mostert gave us the better bang for our fantasy buck relative to ADP.

Wide Receiver

MVP: CeeDee Lamb

Runner-Up: Tyreek Hill

It was ‘Reek all year until his injury KILLED us in the fantasy playoffs yesterday. Lamb has been strong and steady all the way, shredding defenders with impeccable timing with his buddy, Dak Prescott.

At the end of the day, you need to be healthy when we need you the most. Even though the Cowboys sucked yesterday, Lamb picked up 10 targets, seven receptions and 53 yards. One of his weaker games of the season, but still, he was out there when we needed him. Still got 12-plus points in a lot of leagues.

Tight End

MVP: Sam LaPorta

Runner-Up: TJ Hockenson

This is ironic because the Lions’ in-division trade of Hockenson to the Vikings opened the door to their eventual draft selection of LaPorta.

And DAMN… did LaPorta deliver in a major way!

I think he’s an underrated candidate for Rookie of the Year, a consistent performer from the get-go who immediately meshed with Jared Goff and OC Ben Johnson. With Jameson Williams suspended to start the season, opportunities opened up behind the great Amon-Ra St. Brown. And LaPorta did not hesitate – he got to work on the fantasy scoreboard right away.

There’s no question he’s the tight end MVP, but Hockenson has been superb for Minnesota as well. The highest compliment we can pay? This talented, veteran tight end has had to deal with FOUR different quarterbacks this season. Yet and still, he produced the whole way through.

I’ll see ya right back here next week for my fantasy busts!
