It was Aaron Rodgers‘ agent—Gabe, not that nice State Farm guy—who contacted the referees Monday morning with his very indecent proposal. “Illegal hands to the face,” Gabe whispered, “and be sure to delete those emails!” Trey Flowers and the Lions were the innocent victims of this elaborate conspiracy, with Flowers erroneously flagged twice in the 4th quarter as the officials gifted the game to the Packers. Final score: Lions 22 – Packers 13 – Refs 10. Anyway, here’s what else I saw Monday night in fantasy football:

As weekly fantasy standings continue to shift up and down; some owners are sitting atop their standings feeling good about a playoff run, some are in the thick of it where every week is one win away from a healthy spot in the standings or one loss away from the bottom, and lastly some owners are fighting to avoid their fantasy punishment. Regardless of position, preparing yourself for future matchups and protecting your assets down the stretch are vital to your chances of a deep playoff run OR avoiding punishment. Darnold Plays Spin the Bottle

The entire Jets offense was giddy when Sam Darnold strolled into the locker-room Sunday carrying his vintage Coca-Cola bottle. After four weeks of quarantine with the kissing disease, Darnold was ready to play games with his favorite group of guys. First, the young QB locked eyes with Robby Anderson (5 catches for 125 yards and his 1st touchdown) for a juicy 92 yard score. Next he played touch and squeeze with Ryan Griffin (3 catches for 28 yards and his 1st touchdown). Even Le’Veon Bell (14 carries for 50 yards and his 2nd touchdown) snuck into the circle and gave the bottle a twirl. Sammy Big D went 23/32 for 338 yards and 2 touchdowns in his triumphant return as the Jets upset the Cowboys. Anyway, here’s what else I saw during yesterday’s late games in fantasy football:

Kyle Punches A Hole Through Tampa’s Secondary

We’re getting to the part of the season where the teams that started hot make way for new teams to start to get hot. The Kansas City Chiefs looked unbeatable until they showed a chink in their armor in Detroit, and the Texans looked pretty pedestrian until recently. The Texans were a popular upset pick for Sunday, but it’s still surprising to see them come back from an early 14 point deficit when it looked like the Chiefs were going to roll right over them. 

The Vikings passing game has looked lethargic so far this season with a lot of the blame being placed on Kirk Cousins when really Kevin Stefanski and Mike Zimmer deserve a lot of the heat. Stefon Diggs, who is one of the most talented wide receivers in the league, was left for dead by this Vikings offense. Until Sunday when he went off for 3 touchdowns. Things in this league can shift at any time.

Week 6 NFL Fantasy Football Primer

We finally have an early morning game. It’s my favorite part of the season. The whole expanding the brand to Europe thing doesn’t doesn’t affect most of us Razzballers, but getting a coffee and breakfast game gives us 3 more hours of football on Sunday!

The afternoon slate looks awesome. We have the 49ers taking on the Rams and the Jet vs. the Cowboys (which I actually thing will be a really good game). The Falcons and Cardinals could also be a high scoring game. But, the Chiefs and Texans is being played during the early slate and I’m going to have to hook up a TV to watch that game by itself. The Vikings and Eagles should also be a fun game to watch and that outcome is hard to predict. There are a lot of things to look forward to in week 6 so let’s get right into the injuries followed by the rankings.

Week 6 NFL DFS Guide

Four 40-bombs (.5 PPR) last week! And I guessed none of them! What a disappointing week.

Well, that’s not exactly true. I had DeShaun Watson (41.7 points) as my top honorable mention, and although Jacoby Brissett didn’t live up to fantasy expectations, he sure did lead a solid game to get the win over Kansas City. And Kyler Murray, who was the 14th-most expensive option, scored the sixth-most (25.4) of any QB.

And though I was missing Aaron Jones (45.7), I did mention that it was a good week to stick with your studs as I listed Christian McCaffrey (44.7), Dalvin Cook (22.7), and David Johnson (17.1), all of which were top-12 totals. Will Fuller (46.7) wasn’t one of my recommendations, but Michael Thomas (35.7) sure was.

All in all… not bad, could use some work. I’m thinking Week 6 is a good time to return to Week 3 status where we were topping the DFS leaderboards. Let’s dig in.

With more and more teams separating themselves on both sides of the ball, we’re also figuring out who will end up being great fantasy picks, and bad fantasy picks by the end of the season. But for now, let’s talk about some players who have some great matchups, and those who don’t.

RazzBowl Revelations: Opossum in the Road

Driving down a dark neighborhood street last night, I came across an opossum chilling in the middle of the road. This little marsupial, with a penchant for playing dead, got me thinking about one of my RazzBowl players who I sure thought was dead until week 5 happened: Will Fuller. The Varmint scored 3 touchdowns in week 5 as he powered Team Donkey Teeth all the way up from 49th to 18th place.

Michael Stepney of The Fantasy Authority has reclaimed the top RazzBowl spot once again over Pat Fitzmaurice of The Football Girl with Adam Ronis of Full Time Fantasy rounding out the top three, all separated by less than 15 points. But look out fellas, Donkey Teeth—like Will Fuller—was only playing dead. RazzBowl on! 

What makes the RazzBowl especially unique compared to other best ball formats and industry leagues is our addition of a $10 FAAB budget for the entireway season with a minimum of $1 bids. This allows teams to cycle out dead roster spots (e.g. Andrew Luck, Lamar Miller, etc) but it also means each team will only be allowed a maximum of ten moves for the entire season. Every dollar of each competitor’s free agent budget is just as precious as a Bill Belichick smile.

When teams choose to pony up their FAAB, it’s worthwhile to take a look and see why. There could be a goldmine of speculative adds buried in the RazzBowl transactions this season.

Most RazzBowlers are now more broke than Donkey Teeth after the sugar beet farmers market comes to town, but here’s a few players our competitors splurged for this week:

Opening the week as the highest over/under of the season at 55.5, HOU @ KC now sits as the tied-for-2nd highest point total in 2019 at 55. A clash between offenses that rank #4 (KC) and #9 in points per game. Poorly buried by the NFL in the early slate of games, everyone get their popcorn ready early this Sunday. Both teams rank in the top 10 in total offensive plays ran this season, #3 KC and #8 HOU, and find their way onto this weeks shootout game preview.

I’ve given some quick hit stats and blurbs from my normal sources instead of finding the top 3-4 and elaborating on what I believe it means for the week and how we can take advantage of it. Let me know in the comment section if you like this style better, worse, or would even prefer a hybrid. The positives about this style is your going to get a higher volume of nuggets that influence players/teams and it is far easier to consume. The negative is they aren’t particularly as in depth, and you may have to draw your own conclusions on how to use it. Anyway, I write so you can consume so let me know what you think!

Brady Steals All Of The Sonshine

A windy Thursday night in Foxboro with the 5-0 Patriots taking on the 2-3 Giants without Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram, Sterling Shepard, and Wayne Gallman? This game is cooked and is going to be boring as hell right? Wrong. It was actually pretty entertaining! Well, at least it was before the 4th quarter when the Patriots ran away with it. There were 3 touchdowns that happened on defense and special teams, which isn’t great for fantasy football but it kept the viewers engaged for most of the night.  

The under was looking like a great play from a gambling standpoint for a quarter and a half. Then of course, things got weird and the over ended up covering. Vegas took a beating with sharps and the public both leaning into the Patriots’ point spread. Even with 21 of the 49 points coming without offense, there are still a few things to cover from a fantasy standpoint.
