Opening the week as the highest over/under of the season at 55.5, HOU @ KC now sits as the tied-for-2nd highest point total in 2019 at 55. A clash between offenses that rank #4 (KC) and #9 in points per game. Poorly buried by the NFL in the early slate of games, everyone get their popcorn ready early this Sunday. Both teams rank in the top 10 in total offensive plays ran this season, #3 KC and #8 HOU, and find their way onto this weeks shootout game preview.

I’m trying something a little bit different this week. I’ve given some quick hit stats and blurbs from my normal sources instead of finding the top 3-4 and elaborating on what I believe it means for the week and how we can take advantage of it. Let me know in the comment section if you like this style better, worse, or would even prefer a hybrid. The positives about this style is your going to get a higher volume of nuggets that influence players/teams and it is far easier to consume. The negative is they aren’t particularly as in depth, and you may have to draw your own conclusions on how to use it. Anyway, I write so you can consume so let me know what you think!
Please, blog, may I have some more?A windy Thursday night in Foxboro with the 5-0 Patriots taking on the 2-3 Giants without Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram, Sterling Shepard, and Wayne Gallman? This game is cooked and is going to be boring as hell right? Wrong. It was actually pretty entertaining! Well, at least it was before the 4th quarter when the Patriots ran away with it. There were 3 touchdowns that happened on defense and special teams, which isn’t great for fantasy football but it kept the viewers engaged for most of the night.
The under was looking like a great play from a gambling standpoint for a quarter and a half. Then of course, things got weird and the over ended up covering. Vegas took a beating with sharps and the public both leaning into the Patriots’ point spread. Even with 21 of the 49 points coming without offense, there are still a few things to cover from a fantasy standpoint.

What are you ranking? Everything! You get a ranking, you get a ranking, everybody gets a ranking! You’ll find my Standard, Half-PPR, and PPR rankings below.
What are my rankings bona fidas? Well, there’s finishing in the FantasyPros Top-10 Draft Accuracy (7th Place) in 2017, Top-25 Weekly Accuracy (23rd Place) in 2017, Top-5 Draft Accuracy (3rd place) in 2016, Top-10 Weekly Accuracy (10th Place) in 2016, Top-25 Weekly Accuracy in 2015 (21st Place) and on average we’ve finished in the Top-10 Draft Accuracy (9th Overall) and the Top-20 Weekly Accuracy (18th Overall) for the past four years and finished 30th overall for our Draft Rankings with a 32nd overall finish in Weekly just last season. And this is out of over 100+ industry sites and experts year-after-year. I’d like to think we’re pretty good at this stuff…
What does the word bona fidas mean? According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, bo·na fi·des ˌbō-nə-ˈfī-ˌdēz , ÷ˈbō-nə-ˌfīdz means 1 : good faith : sincerity, 2 : the fact of being genuine —often plural in construction, 3 : evidence of one’s good faith or genuineness —often plural in construction, 4 : evidence of one’s qualifications or achievements —often plural in construction. On a separate note, I think it would make a great name for a cat.
What’s my ranking process? I’ve actually written about this in the past, and instead of working hard for new and enlightening content, I have chosen the more efficient (lazy, ahem) method and dropping in a link to that post here. Honestly, my process hasn’t changed much at all (the ole “don’t fix what ain’t broke” proverb comes to mind) and so my “A Day in the Life of a Fantasy Football Ranker” story still remains relevant to this day. (The TL;DR is: I’m lazy as fudge. Well, I mean the other “f” word, but I’m hungry.)
How should I use your rankings? The same way your mother does. Which actually makes no sense. (Unless your mother is in the running to always finish top-3 in your Fantasy Football league. And if that’s the case, say hello to her for me.)

Please, blog, may I have some more?I’m not going to sugarcoat it, this team is an abomination. While the names on the jerseys indicate point scoring should be better, there is no excuse for being 150 points behind 7th place out of 8 teams. THERE’S ONLY 113 POINTS BETWEEN 7TH AND 1ST. Truly a special bunch, I haven’t seen this level of ineptitude since my son’s 3rd grade rendition of Macbeth. And the ending is projecting to be at least as tragic.
There really isn’t a trade to make as virtually no one on this team is playing very well, so any move would be selling low and not netting a return that is going to boost KJ up the standings. Being this far down the totem pole, you have little leverage in a redraft league. The players that should produce just need to start breaking out.
I do think that DeAndre Hopkins gets right this week. I expect Watson to force feed him against the Chiefs like he did Fuller last week. At RB, Le’Veon Bell has been seeing all the work but the Jets’ offense has been grounded since losing Sam Darnold to a spin-the-bottle mishap. LVB should see a bump in production, but I don’t know if it will be enough to pry this team from the dank crypt it currently resides in. TE continues to be a dead zone but there is surprisingly some hope on the wire.
Please, blog, may I have some more? While there were some trouble spots, Week 5 was generally pretty quiet for most teams in the NFL…. except for one in particular, who are missing a bunch of offensive stars before their Thursday Night Football clash. Good thing they’re facing the… *checks notes* New England Patriots and their tough defense. That should be fun! Let’s see if we can accentuate any positives while addressing the rest of the league.
Let’s talk about some of the players who landed on the injury report this week.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Chris Godwin was the industry sweetheart coming into the 2019 season. He was on approximately 99% of the industries undervalued/sleeper lists for his utilization in Bruce Arians “Big Slot” role. His draft day price rose to a 4/5th round regular by opening week. Normally, when that much value is sucked out of a rising draft stock it is arguably better to simply avoid for the price. Luckily, I remained neutral, because after 5 weeks it is evident that Chris Godwin is an elite wide receiver in this role. He is the current WR1 in both standard and PPR formats. He is top 12 in targets and 8th in Air Yards. As noted last week the vital component of this passing game for fantasy value is they push the ball downfield, increasing the value of a target, and compress the target share between two elite players. Godwin is an extremely talented player in terms of metrics and is in the perfect spot to continue to provide WR1 value for the rest of the season.

Please, blog, may I have some more?Well, we are through five weeks of the NFL season and some things are clear: The Redskins stink, the Jets stink, and the Browns stink. Yeah, the last one is the most surprising to me also. These are also some players to really be concerned about. Stefon Diggs is a sell, Baker Mayfield is a drop, and Darren Waller? Well, he might be a huge buy. If you can. But let’s take a look at a few players who you should cash out on and who you should still try to get for 50 cents on the dollar.
