After one week feeling under the weather (in which I mostly slept and watched the 1972 AFC Divisional Game), I am back covering Week 15 in the Daily Fantasy Football scene. Well, being off the grid for a week, what did I miss? Did Thomas Rawls, Andy Dalton, Tyler Eifert, T.J. Yeldon, Vincent Jackson and Jonathan Stewart all suffer injuries, some season-ending? Yeah right!

You’re kidding.

Let’s review the hectic week.

One of the most difficult words to say in the English language has five letters and starts with an ‘s’. Any guesses? You could go in a multitude of directions here, and before you take it down the avenue that garners a solid (not the word) ‘That’s what she said’ from Michael Scott (also not the word), let me just try to get this out.

So…wait. (Exhale). Ok, deep breathe. Let’s try again.

Sor…nope! Not easy. Just simply too much pride in the male ego. But we can do this. If Justin Bieber can sing an entire song about it, I got this.

SORRY. (Cue fireworks, confetti, streamers, balloons and kazoos). Man, I feel a little better now. Do you?

Truth is, the past two weeks on this little advice column have been quite poopy. Call it bad luck, of which a large dose of fantasy football is comprised of, or just bad math, either way it hasn’t been pretty. Each week my goal is to give you great options to compile the best lineup for a 22-man league in FanDuel. Why?

Each week we offer a 22-man Razzball-only FanDuel Contest that pays out the top-5 finishers! Think you’re good enough to operate beyond just luck and work your way to the top of the standings? Then put your money where your fingertips are and enter the $5 Contest for Week 15!

If you’re still reading at this point, you either really love fantasy football, or you’re within a game or two (stop playing into Week 17!) of winning your fantasy championship. Ideally, your lineup is set at the typical streamer positions at this point. Well, unless you somehow managed to advance after Andy Dalton’s early injury last week. More than likely you didn’t, but perhaps you did.

I know I did.

Yes, despite Dalton’s one-point performance, I was able to survive my first-round playoff matchup to move on to the semifinals. It’s also a league where every team thinks it’s necessary to hold two or three quarterbacks, so the pickings were slim. More than any other time this year, I’m desperate for some streamers.

One playoff week down, two more to go. Are you guys as excited as I am… for Christmas! I lost every playoff match-up except one, so I’m not feeling football right now. By the way, speaking of Christmas, I just got back from my daughter’s Christmas, I mean “Holiday” program. I never thought it was possible, but they found a way to take the cute out of Christmas… again. Seriously, it was the most pretentious ball of blah that was only topped by last year’s snooze-fest that featured the “In A Gadda Da Vida” of Christmas songs. Sorry, I had to get that off my chest. But really though, it was worst than taking an elite running back in the first round this year. Oh wait, I either took Antonio Brown or ODB in the first round of every draft (one league was a shameful auto draft). As I did last week, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that we are still writing five days a week on the baseball side, and with January Grey right around the corner, you need to get over there where the party literally never stops. The daily words of wisdom by Grey and people talking about their keepers and dynasty leagues keeps enough buttons open on the blouse that any real fantasy baseball fan must take a peek. Don’t forget, we should be launching the RCL’s over there in February. Now that I got that out of the way, let’s get to the ranks and where you can see your name in hyper link!

By the time you have read this, the most anticipated movie of the year, perhaps decade, will have been unleashed upon us. Instead of catching a midnight showing, I have opted for the Friday morning 11am viewing at the IMAX Theater in Jordan’s Furniture. Most of you are probably thinking “where the freak is that?”. So I’ll tell you. Up here in Natick, MA there is giant furniture store. The place is massive, filled with high quality home decor ranging from televisions to mattresses to sofas. But the best thing about this place is its IMAX theater. I’ve been to my share of movie theaters over the years and this place is the bees knees. Hands down. When I used to live five minutes away I’d go see whatever movie was playing, even if I had no interest. Each seat is crafted from Tempurpedic memory foam and is equipped with a butt kicker. A “butt kicker” is a built in speaker/subwoofer. The sound and screen size is amazing, leaving you immersed in the film. Apparently WIRED Magazine has selected this theater as one of the top 7 screens in the US to see Star Wars, The Force Awakens. Can’t wait!

Andy Dalton.  The Red Rifle.  That nickname is acceptable if it’s intentionally ironic, otherwise… my gawd.  It’s surprising it took so long for someone to dub him the “Red Ryder” as J.J. Watt did a few weeks ago.  Here’s an update on his thumb injury:

This injury hits really hard in the 2-QB and super flex leagues.  In most other formats I think Dalton owners can get by.  Make no mistake about it, this is not good for A.J. Green, Jeremy Hill, and Gio Bernard owners.  The likelihood of A.J. Green having a bad game just about tripled I’d say, and his range of outcomes is all over the place, because of A.J. McCarron.

We all remember the truly transcendent performances that single-handedly win playoff weeks for us. Names like Drew Bennett and Jerome Harrison come to mind on the offensive side of the ball, but the IDP world doesn’t really have an epic game to point to in the playoffs. That all changed on Sunday, as Khalil Mack wrecked Brock Osweiler’s world en route to 7 tackles, 5 sacks and a forced fumble. He led the way for all IDPs in standard scoring leagues, but in big play leagues, he potentially put up the biggest individual game of the season. If you started Mack last week, congratulations on what was likely a huge victory. Moving forward, things get complicated. In general, Mack’s positional eligibility has been a hot topic all season, with some sites listing him as a DE, some as an LB, and some with dual eligibility. As a DE, he’s been a no-doubt starter in big play leagues, and a fringe starter in standard scoring, due to his heavy reliance on sacks. As an LB, he’s not really startable unless you’re in a deep big-play league. To complicate things further, Green Bay is likely to game plan for Mack more so than usual this week after his coming out party, and they’re in the middle of the pack in terms of sacks allowed this year. So if you started him last week, I’d keep rolling him out because your league’s setting likely make him a viable starter. But if you’re in a more standard league, and he’s listed as an LB only, then I’d keep him on the bench.

newton

In his last four games, Cam Newton has thrown 13 touchdown passes. To put that into perspective, on the season Matt Ryan has 17, Jay Cutler has 16, Alex Smith has 15 and Teddy Bridgewater has 9. Newton leads all quarterbacks in rushing yards (480) and rushing touchdown (7). To put that into perspective, only Devonta Freeman, Adrian Peterson, DeAngelo Williams and Jeremy Hill have more rushing TDs. The only player in fantasy football with more points than Newton is Tom Brady. With an ADP of about 89, and the 12th QB taken off the board this season, Cam is defying the laws of fantasy football motion. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Currently at 13-0, the Panthers are staring at an undefeated season. If I were a betting man, which I am, my money says they make it to 16-0. This week he gets the Giants. The Giants defense is allowing 314.8 yards and 1.8 touchdowns per game to opposing quarterbacks. I think a 4 touchdown game is not out of the question.

With as many injuries as we saw in Week 14, with Eifert, J-Stew, Olsen, Dalton, Yeldon, Rawls, V-Jax and Blount to name a few, the teams that made it through to their league’s semi-final round (the teams that actually followed my advice of course) are going to need some help. And of course, I’m here to wipe away the tears and tell you everything is going to be Okay. Even this late in the season, there is still plenty of players that could still help your team go all the way and win me… I mean, you money! So, let’s get to it!

I hope I don’t get sued for using the CW logo. Who am I kidding? I’m sure they would appreciate the exposure to the four people that read this article. With that said, they have come a long way from their UPN/WB days. You know, that channel that gave us hits such as Homeboys in Outer Space, The Mullets and Platypus Man. To be fair, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a hit and I got my wrestling fix from WWE SmackDown.

Well, we all knew the Bengals season was going to end as soon as they played their first playoff game, the only questions to be answered was the how and why. Unfortunately for the Bengals, the answers came about a month too early. Now sitting at 10-3, Andy Dalton broke his thumb while, of all things, making a tackle (shown above) after throwing an interception. The loss came at the hands of perpetual division rival and bee-uniform wearing Steelers, further complicating the Bengals road to their one-and-done playoff appearance. Even Tyler Eifert went down with a concussion in the first half of yesterday’s game. So you have to wonder, can they still get a bye and go for a loss during the divisional playoffs? Or will that loss come during Wild Card Weekend? All joking aside, you’d have to think that with this year’s Andy Dalton, the Bengals had the best chance they’ve had since the Carter administration to get a playoff victory, but depending on how long Dalton is out, you have to figure that limping into the tournament and unable to get a playoff win is the most likely scenario. And also sounds like a new verse for Alanis Morrisette’s “Ironic”.

Here’s what else I saw during Week 14’s Sunday games…
