I am going to be honest here…I took another Week 1 beating to start the season. Much of said beating had to do with the AJ Brown ankle injury and the 2.2 PPR points from Ja’Marr Chase. I was able to bounce back last year and make the finals again, so I am not in panic mode after a single week. I fared well in all other matchups, but the home league left me disappointed. As I have typed in this column for years, now is not the time to freak out. The worst you could be right now is 0-1 with the Broncos offense, AJ Brown, Zay Worthy, and Ladd McConkey as your starting WRs. If that is your plight, then I authorize you to panic a little bit.
OK, now that we have gotten the small amount of dread out of our system, and have taken a deep breath, it is time to focus on making our roster(s) better. Do not allow a middling performance from your big-name players to put you on tilt. It happens. We all have bad days. Where we should place our focus is solely on injured players this early in the process. We want to cover down for any player that came away from Week 1 with an injury versus chasing some random TE TD while expecting that happen every week. Sure, we like and need depth, but do not mortgage your process for a one-hit wonder.

WAIVERS:
ADD OF THE WEEK = Jalen Coker – 61% rostered: Best player 40% of you had never heard of until the Sunday 1pm games. I loved Coker coming into this season and roster him all over the place. I think he is in for a sensational season. Week 1 certainly did not disappoint. Coker’s line of 9-138-2 will not happen each week but the Panthers offense coached by Dave Canales is on the rise. I fully expect Coker to be a massive part of the plan in Carolina.
QB: Bryce Young – 14% rostered: See above. If Coker continues to pop, and he will, that means Bryce Young’s Week stats (361 yards and 3 passing TDs) is not an aberration. There will be classic Bryce Young duds, but he can probably be used against iffy defenses with confidence.
Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:
Carson Wentz – 0% rostered: Dependent on Kyler Murray concussion protocol. If Kyler sits, you must consider the guy throwing to Justin Jefferson. It is really that simple.
All other low-owned QBs should only be considered in two QB or SuperFlex formats. That list is basically Kirk Cousins, Geno Smith, and Jacoby Brissett. I am not leaning into Drew Lock though he did produce a nice comeback against the Rams.
RB: This position is going to be a mess all season. Do not panic is the prevailing theme throughout this article holds true for this position. Since I am contractually obligated to place a name here, I recommend Kaelon Black who appears to be the RB2 to CMC’s RB1 for the 49ers. San Francisco must find ways to give McCaffrey some rest. He has to protect his body after all the 2025 touches. Black appears primed to be the guy to provide breathers.
Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:
Devin Singletary – 1% rostered: Looks to be the pass catching option with Cam Skattebo as the lead early down back for the Giants. I have never been a proponent of Singletary but he warrants a mention here based on Week 1 usage and TD reception.
Kendre Miller – 1% rostered: Alvin Kamara is injured and Miller was the beneficiary of his absence. Nothing to really write home about here as much as he had enough carries to make us pay attention.
WR: Devaugh Vele – 8% rostered. With Jordyn Tyson on the IR, Vele stepped in as the WR2 to Chris Olave WR1 for the Saints and dropped a cool 7-69-1 on 9 targets. The Saints will throw. Olave will get his. Vele is a better red zone threat than Olave. I am comfortable starting both, once as WR and one as Flex.
Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:
Caleb Douglas – 12% rostered: Miami is bad and will have to throw to stay in games. Insert the rookie WR and that combination of bad and passing will benefit Douglas. He showed well during camp and Week 1 was the first positive step for the 2026 season with 5-94-0 (on 7 targets).
I want Dontayvion Wicks – 16% rostered, to be a thing. His Week 1 line is nice, but the deeper statistics show he was on the field only 2% less than Makai Lemon. Wicks made the most of his two receptions with 73 yards and a TD. Keep an eye on the Eagles X receiver moving forward.
Deebo Samuel – 49% rostered: It is possible Deebo is rosterable again. I am not sure I want to rely on him from week to week, but he should prove to be a decent WR bench depth and injury/bye replacement level player.
TE: Juwan Johnson is my top TE add for this week while being available in 27% of leagues. Add him now as he will not be available after Week 2. The Saints do one thing well. They throw the ball. With
As mentioned above, it has only been one week, so if you lost, got blown out even, relax. It will be OK. There is no need to rush to drop any specific player.
