I am going to be honest…I took another Week 1 beating to start the season.  I am not concerned after just the solo showing especially considering I won the league after starting 0-1 last season.  I faired well in all other matchups, but the home league left me disappointed.  As I have typed in this column for years, now is not the time to panic.  The worst you could be right now is 0-1 with Xavier Worthy, the Miami WRs, and George Kittle on your team.  If that is your plight, then I authorize you to panic a little bit.

OK, now that we have gotten the small amount of panic out of our system, and taken a deep breath, it is time to focus on making our roster(s) better.  Do not allow a middling performance from your big-name players to freak you out.  It happens.  We all have bad days. Where we should place our focus is solely on injured players this early in the process.  We want to cover down for any player that came away from Week 1 with an injury versus chasing some Davis Allen TD while expecting that happen every week.  Sure, we like and need depth, but do not mortgage your process for a one-hit wonder.

WAIVERS:

ADD OF THE WEEK = Hollywood Brown – 26% rostered: This will be quick.  Xavier Worthy will miss time with a separated shoulder.  Rashee Rice is still five games from playing NFL football.  The Chiefs running game looked terrible.  Hollywood Brown officially entered the chat with 10 catches for 99 yards on 16 targets.  Read that last number again…16 targets!  That is elite usage.  Look for Brown to outpace JuJu and Thornton from the slot.  In fact, I foresee Hollywood as TEMU Zay Flowers for 2025 when Worthy and Rice are both back.

QB: Daniel Jones – 6% rostered: Miami appears to be a shell of its former self.  Danny Dimes appears poised for a wonderful resurgence.  Again, pump the breaks if you are considering adding and starting Jones over any QB you drafted prior to Week 1.  He is a fun add and stash while not warranting a starting role in fantasy (yet).

Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:

Aaron Rodgers – 14% rostered: Four TD revenge game.  The end.  Dude will put up some numbers but will prove old and unreliable soon enough.

Geno Smith – 21% rostered: Just dropped 362 yards to start the season and looked good.  Deep stash.

RB: This position is going to be a mess all season.  Do not panic is the prevailing theme throughout this article holds true for this position.  Currently 46% rostered, the top RB name on my list is Dylan Sampson who lit up the PPR scoreboard in Week 1.  Also, if Quinshon Judkins – 55% rostered is available, he should be added.

Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:

Kenneth Gainwell – 1% rostered: There might a three-headed monster brewing in Pittsburgh, and I am staying away from it.  Gainwell had more touches than Kaleb Johnson and was in line with touches with starter Jaylen Warren.

DJ Giddens – 3% rostered: The rumor mill is alive and kicking that Jonathan Taylor is dinged.  If those rumors are true, then Giddens gets a big push on the wire.

WR: I want Quentin Johnston – 9% rostered, to be a thing but I do not think we should be chasing two Week 1 TDs.  Ladd McConkey is going to take over the targets and outshine Johnston rest of season.  Only add Johnston if you lost a player like Worthy.  Do not chase waiver wire TDs.

Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:

Calvin Austin III – 2% rostered:  Keep an eye on this situation.  Austin appears to be the clear (current) WR2 for the Steelers.

Kayshon Boutte – 2% rostered: 95+ yards in four straight games dating back to 2024.  Stefon Diggs is a year older, and Boutte seems to have a nice rapport with Drake Maye.  Flier only at this point.

TE: At 0% rostered but with 99% snap share (was only on the bench for one offensive snap) Juwan Johnson is my top TE add for this week.  Repeat after me…Do not drop a second TE to add a second TE.  If you only drafted one then that is your plan, your process.  Allow it to playout.  You need depth elsewhere, trust me.  Now, if you lost George Kittle for a few weeks, Johnson makes a lot of sense for an offense that should be trailing in most games.  The sexy, and expensive TE pickup for Week 2 will undoubtedly be Harold Fannin Jr. – 3% rostered.  I want to see it for another week before I sing his praises too loud.  Out of the gate, he appears to be the WR3 for the Browns over Jamari Thrash with Njoku being the clear TE1.

As mentioned above, it has only been one week, so if you lost, blown out even, relax.  It will be OK.  There is no need to rush to drop any specific player.
