It's gonna be a long year for these Cowboys...

No game in London this week? Well, there goes my willingness to watch a football-like product today… Instead, we’ll have to deal with intriguing match-ups and, well, not so intriguing ones. Your typical Sunday in the NFL I suppose, unlike Thursday and Monday, which are normally intriguing match-ups that end up with not so intriguing games. (INTRIGUING!) If there was one game to watch, it would probably have to be the 6-1 Packers heading to the Carolinas (both of them I guess?) to face off against the undefeated Panthers. A true test to see if the Panthers, are in fact, real, as all their wins have come against some, well, to stick with today’s theme I guess, less-than-intriguing competition. Living in the NFC South will do that to ya I guess. If there was a second game to watch, it would have to be the Eagles and Cowboys annual opportunity at divisional fisticuffs and NFC East derp. Trust me, a Sunday Night Football game showcasing Sam Bradford and Matt Cassel may sound terrible, but it’ll that good kind of terrible. Like eating Spam. Or watching San Andreas

  • Darren McFadden has officially reported that he’s “injury-free” and was quoted as saying: ” (I’m) going to be better in the fourth quarter than I was in the first quarter”. If I Google translate this from DMC to English, it says that he’ll be put on the IR at half-time of tonight’s game…
  • Percy Harvin has been officially placed on the IR. So I guess the quote now is “Lord have mercy, there is no more Percy?”. It still rhymes, so there’s that I guess.
  • The Titans have cut Terrance West, probably signaling that the age of David Cobb is upon us. And with the existence of Randall Cobb, looks like my Cobb salad jokes are now going to be multiplied by two. Run away while you still can…

I’m in a 12 team half point PPR
WE keep up to 4 keepers a year and you are only able to keep each player for up to 3 years and I have had lacy, brown, and cobb for 2 years. I’ll be able to keep them for 1 more year.

    My roster consists of:
    QB – brees/Dalton/wilson
    RB – lacy/gore/blount/matt jones
    wr – antonio brown/cobb/james jones
    te- eifert, witten

I was offered McCoy/Demaryius Thomas (receive) for Brown (trade away)
    and McCoy/D. Thomas (receive)for LAcy/Cobb (trade away)

What do you think of these two deals? I am currently in 1st place in my division, so I am playing for this year.

If you think giving up Brown is a bad idea…I could counter with
McCoy/D. Thomas (receive) for Lacy/James Jones (trade away)

I am also trying to shop Brees for a WR2, now that I took your advice and picked up Wilson as a back up.

    Thanks for the advice.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Banagrams: Honestly, I wouldn’t do any of these deals. I like the players you have at the moment. But I do like you shopping Brees. Any time!

      • Banagrams says:
        (link)

Would you accept any of these players for Brees?

        Snead
Brandon Marshall (also I would have to add in James Jones)….but I could pick up V-Jax on the waiver
        Jordan Matthews

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Banagrams: I’d take Marshall, but not for adding in Jones. I think there’s a little underselling at this point. I’m intrigued with Matthews though. I’d target Matthews, plus one of his/her bench pieces.

Who would you drop in a keeper between David Cobb Matt Jones and Christine Michael. Assuming each could be kept as a 10th rounder next yr. Also need to factor in potential for this yr too.

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Dirty d: I’d want Cobb and Jones there.

Jay in my head to head dynasty would you deal Woodhead for Devante Parker. I have Gurley, Forte and D.Johnson at RB right now

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@s.h: If it doesn’t hurt your team too much right now, sure. But with Forte’s injury, I’d probably hold for the moment.

  15. Brian says:

    Trade question:

I’m in a 1.0 PPR league where we start 2 RB and 3 WR. RB is my weak point (I have Justin Forsett, Frank Gore, Jonathon Stewart, and (potentially for one more week) Jeremy Langford.

However, WR is finally looking good (after drafting Dez Bryant and Jordy Nelson… ugh), with me having Alshon Jeffery, Julian Edelman, Dez Bryant, and Michael Crabtree.

I was offered Lamar Miller for Dez Bryant after he turned down my offer of Alshon Jeffery for Mark Ingram. Do I accept this offer or counter with Dez for Ingram? In the end, if he doesn’t want to give up Ingram for Dez, would you accept Lamar Miller for Dez or is that not enough?

    Thanks for your help.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Brian: I think it’s fair, but in a PPR, I still like Dez here. Especially with Romo coming back in a few weeks.

Jay! Which matchup u like better and who would u start: Rivers or Brees? I benched Brees last week …thx!!

    • Jay

@JohnnyBeGood: Rivers, but I know that Brees benching hurts. I did the same thing last week with my RCL team.

  17. Ciwa says:

    Hi jay.
    Big doubts this week.
I have to choose between Gore-L.Murray-Gates for the RB2 and FLEX spots.
    What do u think?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Ciwa: Going Murray and Gates there.

  18. Alex says:
    (link)

Must start four of the following, two of them receivers: Chris Hogan, Harry Douglas, Dexter McCluster, Karlos Williams, Dontrelle Inman or Pierre Thomas

    It’s a 12-team, 1 point per reception league.

How do you rank those WRs? Do you play Hogan, Douglas AND Inman? This is a brutal league and I’ve got Hopkins, Tate and Lockett on bye after losing Allan last weekend. What’re your thoughts?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Alex: I go Douglas, Dexter, Williams and Inman.

  19. Beans says:

@Beans: ah, then Cooks and Rishard.

  20. Letsgoletsgo says:

Which Bryant would you sit? Dez is a freak but Matt cassel is not.. I’m so unsure

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Letsgoletsgo: yeah, but I still think Dez is the guy by a small margin.

      • one more time says:
        (link)

@Jay: yea i have a feeling they might force feed him just to get him going again.. plus if dez doesent get the ball he will go nutz on the sideline..

well thanks. i love martavis and will probably keep him for $5 in my keeper league, draft the expensive guys back.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@one more time: Definitely keep him. It’s a good problem to have, all those studs.

20 team dynasty. start 2 WR, 1 RB, 1 flex, 1 QB, 1 TE, 1 K, , 3 LB, 2 S, 2 CB, 2 DT, 2 DE. this is the WAS one with minimum 10 WAS players at all times. PPR but only 1 pt per 15 receiving yards, 1 pt per 5 rushing yards. Pts for first downs yardage bonuses. -1 for incompletions, 1 for completions. 5 Pt passing TD, -5 for picks. -5 for pick 6’s (so -10 for a pick 6 really). sacks -3.
    cousins/RG set him free
    AP/Sims/Morris/C.Thompson/Michael
    Garcon/D-Jax (awful week here)/Aiken/Agholor
    Reed/ASJ/Donnell
    DEN kicker
    LB -L.David/K.Robinson/Anthony/E.Kendricks
    DE- C.Campbell/Heyward/M.Edwards (OAK)
    DT – Donald/T.Crawford (DAL)
    S – Collins/Bucannon/Gilchrist (1 week bye streamer)
CB – Hall/Breeland/R.Parker (counts as both S/CB in yahoo, but actually plays S, so big value here)
    IR – C.McDonald (DT)
Somebody just dropped Foles, makes sense as owner that did it has brady and garropolololo.
Should I drop RG set him free or maybe Donnell for Foles?
I’ll give you some replacement level baselines in our scoring system
    1. – Foles AVG pts per game 19.30 (ranks dead last amongst current starters, large negative pts )
-Cousins AVG per game 39.03 (13th ranked QB). this was from in week 5 Foles had a -20.55 week. Other than that he averages 24.92, which would place him 30th overall.
-Brady AVG 58.64 per game (tops)

    2. for comparison’s sake, top RB is Freeman, with 39.54 average per game
    3. Top WR is hopkins with 26.64 per game.
    4. Top TE is gronk with 21.65
    5. top kicker is gostko with 14.86.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Aubrey Plaza’s Pillow: Foles is pretty trashy, but he is a starter, so there’s that. I see no problem switching him out with RG3.

  25. Mike says:
    (link)

I’m in need of some tweaking…Here;s my roster:
    QB- Dalton
    RB’s-Freeman/Gio Bernard/Yeldon
    WR’s: Tevon Austin/Dez/Snead/John Brown/Jordan Matthews/Moncrief/Travis Benjamin
    TE’s-Gronk/Benjamin Watson

I’ve gone from 1st in the leauge to a 3 game loosing streak…With just a couple weeks till the playoffs, I’ve got so make some moves…I’m not sure if I should move Gronk(since i’ve got Watosn) and Dez(i’ve got depth at WR) for a stud RB or a stud WR. Thoughts??

    • Aubrey Plaza's Pillow says:
      (link)

@Mike: how many of each of these do you start? you do have much better WR depth than RB, probably not a bad idea to grab stud RB by any means necessary if it takes from your TE/WR depth that you don’t need nearly as much.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Mike: Yeah Mike, I’m with Aubrey here. I think dangling Dez out there might be interesting.

      • Mike says:
        (link)

@Jay: I start 2 RB’s and 3 WR’s…I’d love to get Gurley…Thoughts on Dez, Watson and Yeldon for Gurley? Am I giving up too much?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Mike: It’s an overpay, and runs the risk of crippling your team. I think Dez and Watson is fair, but he’s obviously trying to gauge you.

  26. Christine Michael: one Unlucky Whitehead (just pop him or not) says:
    (link)

bid on either of bolden or white in dynasty PPR? drop would have to be one of j.bell/c.michael (jog DMC can be given 27 carries but none for the guy named after a car who itself was named after a girl!?). also have forte/woodhead/ivory.

  27. SH says:
    (link)

Jay my head to head dynasty team is winding down. Playoffs are around the corner. it is a QB,RB,RB,WR,WR,WR,TE QB Flex.
My team is QB-Bradford,Foles and Fitzpatrick, RB-Gurley,Forte,Duke Johnson WR-Diggs, Marvin Jones,Snead,Moncrief,J.Strong,K.Wright,R.Randle,Dorsett and Perriman TE are D.Walker,ASJ and Maxx Williams. Who do you think will provide the most value next year.?and who can I let go.?
Also I have a owner after Forte. He is offer Teddy B,and Hyde or Teddy B and a first that will be top two. would you do either deal or keep Forte. Thanks Jay

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@SH: Depends on how many keepers you get. I think the clear keepers are Gurley and Diggs. The rest depends on contracts, draft positions, etc….

      • SH says:
        (link)

@Jay: It a 32 player keeper league 16 on offence and 16 on defence. All starting Qb’s will be kept,as will the top 35 rbs and easily top 50 WR.It is a 12 team league. Hope this clairifies things.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@SH: Wow… that’s pretty robust. I’d deal Forte for Teddy and Hyde in this format, for sure. And with so many keepers, not sure you would let go of anyone. I think Dorsett and Foles can be dropped if you need those spots.
