As my NFL free agency series winds to a close this week – don’t forget to check out the running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends – it’s time to finish strong with some shiny diamonds in the rough. Which signings went completely under the radar? Who could break out in a major way in […]

Running back is arguably the most talked-about position in our fantasy football universe, and well… this offseason is really shakin’ things up at such a pivotal position. Let’s dive right in and see how key running back transactions are reshaping the landscape of the game we love so much.  Miles Sanders, Carolina Panthers: He did […]

Just like my Packers will do this weekend, with or without A-A-Ron, the Jets beat up the Bears in the rain. Our waiver recommendations for Week […]

Frank Reich adjusted his bifocles, inhaled a deep breath filled with mile-high air, and stared endlessly into the eyes of Nathaniel Hackett. The newly-minted Denver Broncos head coach didn’t flinch. Instead, he extended his right hand, embraced Frank and whispered, “Three-pointers only. Deal.” They shook. They cackled in unison. And the rest was history: another dreadful Thursday Night Football game highlighted by zero touchdowns and a concerning brain injury on the national stage. And I’m making no joke of that last part. Once again, it was a bad look for the NFL, as Nyheim Hines sustained a hit from several Denver defenders and was unable to stand under his own power upon getting up. He was noticeably wobbly as teammates helped him off the field. His status will need to be monitored moving forward, especially since it was clear Indianpolis was going to lean on him in Jonathan Taylor’s absence — feeding him on each of the first three plays from scrimmage. But enough is enough. Here’s what else happened on Thursday night.

Week 16 highlights another of the beauties of DFS.

While most leagues – more importantly, correctly run leagues – end their seasons in Week 16 with a one-week championship, DFS continues onwards. DFS braves the unpredictable nature of Week 17, goes all throughout the NFL playoffs, and extends fantasy football fandom to the very last play of the year.

I’m going to keep it short tonight as I must get to focusing on the week 16 rankings. Alfred had engagements this week that’s keeping him from writing this week, but rest assured, he will be back. I made an appearance with B-Don on the Razzball Fantasy Football podcast this week and we talked about all of the pick ups for the week and much, much more. Here is the list of players that I think are worthy of rostering and possibly starting this week. Remember, heading into your championship week, you don’t need players on your bench that will have zero starter consideration in re-draft leagues.

With most fantasy leagues entering their Championship Sunday in week 16, we will only focus on running back situations that warrant start consideration. Starting running backs that will enter this Sunday 100% healthy, their traditional handcuff can be dropped to waivers to make better use of bench spots. Blocking your opponent, from adding a better defense or a starting caliber player at the QB and skill position (WR/TE/RB), is a tactic the most competitive and cut-throat players deploy. If your league plays to week 17, you will want to pay extra attention to the names below. Congratulations to everyone that made it to their championship game or are fighting for 2nd/3rd place prize pools.

Welcome to Stat-o-Matic where we look at some advanced stats around the NFL. As a disclaimer, I am using this space to play around with some numbers and present some interesting findings. But, by no means is this validated or predictive data. I hope that it will lead to meaningful discoveries or it could inspire you to go down your own rabbit hole. We’re going to explore together, crunch some numbers and see what pops out.
