Over the past four weeks Tom Brady has been slowly settling into life in Tampa Bay, scouting retirement communities and getting to know his new Buccaneer teammates. On Monday young tight end O.J. Howard ate Brady’s spinach, arugula and GOAT cheese salad out of the team fridge while complaining about the lack of tomatoes. Howard then violated the quarterback’s 6-foot radius of personal space before coughing without covering his mouth. Enough was enough, it was time for Tom to dust off his trusty Gronk signal and shine the big man’s light into the balmy Florida night sky. And Rob Gronkowski wasted no time in answering the call of his old friend. By Tuesday afternoon Gronkman had been traded from the Patriots with a 7th-round pick in exchange for the the Buccaneers 4th-round pick.

Gronk battled injuries from 2016-2018 missing 13 games over his final three seasons prior to his early-retirement. He also looked quite slimmed down during his 2019 public appearances. That said, you can’t help but root for the big boy, and a year of rest and relaxation likely did his overworked body some good. Off the bat, I’ll pencil him in as my #7 tight end behind Kelce, Kittle, Waller, Ertz, Andrews and Hooper. And I’ll give him an initial projection of 50 receptions for 700 yards and 6 touchdowns with lots of upside (and downside) from there. Anyway, here’s what other news I saw around the league for 2020 fantasy football:

While it still is early into the 2019 NFL season, we are getting more clarity with which teams are actually good or bad on either side of the ball. With more and more clarity, we can make better and better fantasy decisions with how we should manage or rosters. Who we should start, and who we should sit.

So let’s talk about that very subject.

Thursday night proved that we can’t give up on players or teams after week 1. Mike Evans and Curtis Samuel didn’t have massive weeks but they gave us hope and sometimes that’s enough, ya know? Jameis Winston also looked somewhat sharp. Who knows if those spike weeks are coming for him and the Tampa Bay offense, but at least things were better than the week 1 game against San Francisco.

Week 2 features some good afternoon matchups in Denver, Los Angeles, and Oakland if the early slate doesn’t satisfy. Lets get to some injuries!

Every Week 1 of the new NFL season provides a lot of fireworks, crazy games, insane finishes, and, unfortunately, a ton of injuries. Injuries are a part of the game, and this past week was no exception. A bunch of very important players went down across the league this past weekend with a slew of different injuries, and many will miss time. As a result, backups and third-string players will be launched into starting and backup positions and will have an opportunity to become fantasy relevant in the coming weeks.

With the start of a new fantasy football season, we start a new year of constantly refreshing Twitter and Rotoworld in hopes that our studs will be upgraded from “Questionable” to “Probable”. It’s a stressful life, which begs the question as to why we do it in the first place.

Each Thursday morning, I’ll be your guide to all the most important injury news in the NFL, and how it’ll affect our fantasy rosters. I’ll also be discussing injuries on the defensive side of the ball, and at non-skill positions, such as Tackles and Guards. If it affects an NFL team, it’ll likely affect us.

Do you guys remember Gary Barnidge? I was just combing through the depths of Fantasy Pros tight end results from recent seasons and my heart skipped a beat when I saw that he finished as the third overall tight end in 2015. My writing time in the evening is very valuable. I need to use every minute to the best of my ability after working 10-hour days Monday-Friday at my full-time gig. But, I just spent about 20 minutes trying to find out what the hell happened to Gary Barnidge and where he went. It’s no wonder I was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder as a child, right?

My Bills took it on the chin again (going to be saying that quite a bit the rest of the next two seasons) as the Bears smacked Nathan Peterman around all day in a game that was downright offensive to the modern NFL offenses. I actually watched that entire game and then the New Orleans – LA Rams game and it felt like I was watching two different sports. Let’s get into some of the games from this past weekend…
