In this article, we are going to focus on the first five rounds of the your fantasy football drafts, and hone in on some of the top names that you should target early. Later in the article you will see our latest Top 150 PPR Rankings. Some of these players could be ranked higher or lower since then the rounds indicated in the write up since those are based on Razzbaall ADP. Which you can find here!

What goes into our rankings? Every year, we start with a baseline of what happened the prior year. Then, we review key things that might have impacted the player’s production like injuries, bad coaching, or lack of talent around that player. Next, we review what’s changed heading into this season. This includes things like coaching or personnel changes, injuries, and training camp news and notes on how a player has moved up or down the depth chart.

The League Winners

Garrett Wilson (Round 1) – The Aaron Rodgers / Nathanial Hackett duo supported three straight Top 5 PPR PPG seasons from Davante Adams when they were together in Green Bay.

Kyren Williams (Round 2) – Kyren Williams was one of only two players to have 80% of their games as an RB2, 75% as the RB1, and 50% of their games as an elite RB (21 PPR PPG). Punts be damned he’s still can win you your league.

Isiah Pacheco (Round 2) – After the Week 10 bye, Pacheco played five games and averaged 20 touches per game and 19.9 PPR PPG. That would have been the RB3 in 2023.

Cooper Kupp (Round 3) – Puka Nacua could get off to a slow start due to his injury, and Kupp averaged 16.7 PPR PPG when healthy with Matthew Stafford last season.

Deebo Samuel (Round 3) – No Brandon Aiyuk, no problem. Just throw it to Deebo Samuel. Samuel averaged 17.7 PPR PPG in the 12 games last season (with Aiyuk) he played over 50% of the snaps.

Kenneth Walker (Round 4) – Ryan Grubb has a history of leaning on one back. Last season at Washington he gave Dillon Johnson over 250 touches in just 14 games. At his prior stop at Fresno State he gave Ronnie Rivers an average of nearly 19 touches per game over the final three seasons.

Alvin Kamara (Round 4) – In the 13 Games played last year he averaged 17.5 PPR PPG. Last time OC Klint Kubiak was an OC he gave Dalvin Cook over 20 touches per game.

James Cook (Round 4) – Once new Bills OC Joe Brady took over play calling duties last season James Cook averaged 19.6 touches and 16.7 PPR PPG. That would have made him the RB7 last season.

Tee Higgins (Round 5) – Ja’Marr Chase hasn’t formally practiced yet which puts his early season workload in doubt. Tee Higgins is in a contract year and has scored 15.5 PPR PPG with Joe Burrow over the last two seasons.

Rashee Rice (Round 5) – With a suspension unlikely during the 2024 fantasy football season, it is time to go get Rashee Rice. In the 12 games where he played over 60% of the snaps last season, he averaged 15.9 PPR PPG or WR15 in 2023.

Dalton Kincaid (Round 5) – New Bills OC coached under Sean Payton who featured Jimmy Graham as his top option. Also, at LSU, Thaddeus Moss had his best season under Joe Brady.

    Bobby
It’s been great watching your top 150 evolve. I love the thought process that you put into this.
We chatted about my unique 8 keeper league
I mentioned that I had picks 3 and 5 in the draft
I also have pick 15 now.
    12 team PPR Superflex
I’m taking Daniels @ 3 to give me a solid QB trio of Dak, Lamar & Daniels
I only have Ettienne at RB
Stacked at WR with Hill, Brown, Kupp, D Smith
    Kincaid @ RB
Would you lock in on Connor with the 5th pick?
He would complete my starting lineup
As I lack a second RB
Getting him in essentially the 9th seems solid
Or I can take Watson, McLaurin, Kirk or possibly Nabers (tho I anticipate him going 4th)
Any suggestion you could make would be most appreciated

Thanks Foxman! I appreciate the feedback. I am good with taking Conner over those WRs or dangle a WR to flip to a team deep at RB.

  2. Water Boy says:

Howdy! Just drafted in my 10 tm full ppr league seeing what you think of this?

    Drafted 10th in the snake

    QB Jayden Daniels

RB1 Breece Hall; fell to me at pick 10
    RB2: Josh jacobs

WR1 Garrett Wilson immediately after Breece ; pick 11
    WR2: jaylen waddle

TE last pick in the draft Hayden hurst I’ll stream

    Flex Ken Walker

D Seattle week 1 they get broncos

    Kicker moody

    Bench
    – mclaurin
    – JSN
    – spears
    – Pollard
    – Jerome ford ( round 11)
    – Tua (round 12)

    • Water boy says:
      (link)

Oh and Jameson Williams also on the bench

    • Bobby LaMarco

      Bobby LaMarco says:
      (link)

Solid I would give it a B+ due to the streamer TE situation. I am not a big Waddle guy, but JSN is one of my favorite WR3s this season.

      • Water Boy says:
        (link)

My other draft is Tuesday night it’s a keeper; max any two keepers I’m keeping Bijan & Justin Jefferson

Rounds 1 & 2 are dedicated to keepers, snake begins round 3 where I’ll have pick 1, illl also have pick 3 in that round as I traded Mike evans for that pick

Players who won’t be kept that will be available to me

        – Breece Hall
        – Rachaad white
        – Ken Walker
        – jon Taylor
        – Barkley
        – James Cook
        – kamara
        – Josh Jacobs
        – Pacheco
        – AJ brown
        – Kupp
        – Puka
        – olave
        – Gibbs
        – all rookies
        – ETN

        How would you game plan?

  3. packers2018 says:

In a super-flex league is the strategy to pick a QB in the first round then just go from there?

I have the 7th pick in a 12 teamer 1/2 ppr. Seems my choices would be Murry -Love-Prescott or get the highest ranked WR available then get 2 QB’s?

Having trouble figuring when to get the 2nd QB over a RB.

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

    • Bobby LaMarco

      Bobby LaMarco says:
      (link)

Yea, at 7 I am grabbing Stroud, Murray, or Love! Then around the turn, it depends on who is around. If you can get Jayden Daniels in the 2nd I am grabbing him. If not, then I just start drafting from my Top 150.

      • packers2018 says:
        (link)

        Ok. Thank you.

  4. Dom Cobb says:
    (link)

Great stuff, what do you think of this 12 teamer, Yahoo standard team? Chase fell to #9 for me, so hoping his contract situation gets resolved soon.

    QB- J.Burrow
    WR.J.Chase, Davonta Smith, C.Watson
    RB- Pacheco/J.Cook
    TE- Schultz
    Flex- J.Conner

    BN- R.Dowdle, Jayden Daniels, L.McKonkey, Mike Williams, JK Dobbins, T.Benson, A.Iosivas, J.Tolbert

    • Bobby LaMarco

      Bobby LaMarco says:
      (link)

Great Squad. Iosivas gives you a “handcuff” if Chase holds out for a few weeks. Ladd is probably next man up for you though. Pacheco/Cook/Conner are a great trio of RBs.

  5. Dude says:
    (link)

What are your thoughts on Dalvin Cook with the Cowboys?

    • Bobby LaMarco

      Bobby LaMarco says:
      (link)

It is something to keep an eye out on for sure. Dowdle seems to be gaining steam as the main back, but bringing in Cook this late is interesting. I am not opposed to stashing him in deeper leagues.

  6. Terrible TERRIBLE Towel says:

    14 Teamer .5 PPR … start 3 RB or 3 WR … Draft last night …. How’d I do ? Thank you as always …

    Kyler
    Bijan
    Najee (Corum/Irving)
    Kupp
    DK
    Godwin/Diontae
    Muth /Likely

    K’s & D’s are whatevs to me

    • Bobby LaMarco

      Bobby LaMarco says:
      (link)

      QB – A

I Love Kyler this season! He’s been great when he has healthy weapons around him

      RB – C+
I prefer Hall over Bijan, but he should he a stud and is a top 6-7 pick for me. Harris could struggle for consistency on a Russell Wilson led offense while splitting time with Warren. He’s a high floor guy for sure. Corum is the homerun play here. Can’t fault anyone for taking a show on him. I am not sure if Irving will be much of a facto

      WR (B)

Solid group led by Kupp. I am personally taking guys like Rice and Higgins ahead of D.K. but he’s locked in to Top 20-24 value.

      TE( B-)

I was very high on Muth early on in the process, but watching Arthur Smith mix and match worries me a bit.

  7. Adam says:
    (link)

Just had my Espn 10 team standard draft
    Thoughts??
    Qb. Stroud
Rb barkley, achane, moestart, javonte w, chase b, j wright, corum
WR. Wilson, nabers, waddle, x worthy
    Te. Engram
    Dst. Balt, sea
    K phi

    • Bobby LaMarco

      Bobby LaMarco says:
      (link)

      QB – A

Stroud is my guy this year!

      RB – A

Dolphins is probably the only backfilled where both guys could be Top 15 options plus Javonte and Chase give you insane depth behind Barkley.

      WR – B-

Outside of Wilson I am not as high on the other WRs. WRs drafted in the Top 10 have spotty records and I think Nabers might be a WR3 this season. Waddle lacks upsdie when Tyreek Hill is healthy. It’s hard for even Mahomes to support 4 fantasy relevant players. I have a feelign he might be behind Kelce, Brown, and Rice.

      TE – B+

Engram is as safe as they come.

  8. JC says:

How did you pull off Breece and Bijan on the same team?

Mostert might be your RB2 over D.Mont, but these squads are all A- to A range. Great job.

      • JC says:
        (link)

Traded second and third round picks for his first and fourth rounders. Excited! These are spec teams based on a hundred mocks…. the three most often found scenarios. So trying to get a feel for best option depending on who is available. Hall, Bijon together could be sweet

  9. J-E-T-S JetS Jets Jets says:

Dynasty league question, thinking of making a trade to help with depth issues. Standard pts league, 1 qb… my qb right now is Lamar Jackson and I have Daniel jones as a backup. I only have one TE (Njoku) and my rbs are: etienne/achane/raachad white and David Montgomery.

I was thinking of trading David Montgomery and Christian Kirk for Tua Tagovailoa, Jerome Ford. And Dalton Schultz.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

    • Bobby LaMarco

      Bobby LaMarco says:
      (link)

Keep the RB depth. It’s the hardest thing to come by. Daniel Jones is a fine QB2 in a single QB league. I would go searching for a discount TE2 like Hunter Henry or Tyler Conklin. Let me know what those teams look like.

      • J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets says:
        (link)

Thanks! I agree with keeping rb depth, which is why I was going for Jerome ford in return as part of a larger plot (get Dalton schultz).

I agree Conklin is more desirable as a TE target but the conklin owner doesn’t profile as a good trade partner, that said they have guys like Dak Prescott/Deshaun watson/ Jayden Daniels at qb, and Raheem Mostert at rb (I own Achane) and Goedert as their other TE… perhaps they’d do a Chris Olave and David Montgomery for Dak Prescott/Mostert and Conklin deal…. I can try using Christian Kirk instead of olave but not sure if he’ll for it…

        Thanks!

  10. J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets says:
    (link)

Is Chris Olave for Travis Kelce a fair deal?

My other WR are: Amari Cooper/Godwin/DK Metcalf/Christian Kirk. Njoku is my current TE.

    Thanks!

      Bobby LaMarco says:

Is this a 3 WR league? Whats the starting lineup? 2 RB 3 WR flex?

      • J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets says:
        (link)

Hi Bobby! It’s a 1-3 rb and a 2-4 WR league..: so I have the potential to start 4 wr’s but I drafted by team to have a good rb presence (Achane/Raachad white/Etienne/Monty) and it’s 0.5 ppr so i targeted pass catching backs. I can’t imagine a scenario where I EVER start 4 wr, but trchnicallly I can.

I’m not high on Olave, want to trade him, but understanding it’s a dynasty league want to get some fair value in return. Thanks so much!

        • Bobby LaMarco

          Bobby LaMarco says:
          (link)

I wouldn’t make that deal in Dynasty. I am keeping Olave. I would got see who has Kincaid or McBride if you want to upgrade at TE.

  11. Lubey says:
    (link)

    Hey Bobby

My league has QB passing TDs set to 5 pts vs the default 4. It also has INTs set to -2 vs the default of -1. Is this a big enough deal where I need to change my draft strategy to account for this? (Look to draft pocket passer over running QBs?)

    Thanks brotha

    • Bobby LaMarco

      Bobby LaMarco says:
      (link)

      Hi Lubey,

This format slightly favors pocket QBs. I’d give a bump to Mahomes, Stroud and Love vs. Richardson, Jackson and Murray. However, that is only if you have guys in the same tier. I wouldn’t drastically alter your rankings or tiers based on this format alone. Does that make sense?

  12. Fievel says:
    (link)

    8 teamer- 1/2 ppr
    Qb, te, def
Run 2 each of wr, rb, flex

2nd pick. Think I’m going ceedee but could be convinced for hill. Ceedee pure volume just seems the way to go. Who’s the target on the wraparound/thoughts on three round strategy here(I feel more confident in my later rounds generally)? Naturally the board dictates, but I had in my head picking later in the first so I’m trying to change strategy last minute. kinda feeling an rb (maybe kyren if he doesn’t go prior) in that ranking range rather than a deebo, Nico wr. But I could even be convinced to go kupp, then Henry at 3rd turn to at least grab an rb that has consistent volume. Or I just go wr heavy with top 3 and hope to get a little lucky and get etn and a kamara type in 4-5. Hope for some volume and td luck grab upside depth later.

    • Bobby LaMarco

      Bobby LaMarco says:
      (link)

In a 2 WR and 2 Flex league I give a slight bump to RBs, but I would pretty much follow my Top 150. Pacheco is my guy this year and I am all in. Kyren is a close second. If it’s only 8 teams you have a shot to get 2 of Pacheco, Kyren and Kupp , but after that I am a Deebo guy for sure. I think alot of people are overlooking the fact that this is the first time Brock Purdy had full off-season with the 1st team offense and that whole time he did it without AIyuk so his connection with Deebo will be strong early on in 2024.
