Week 9 is done, and I have the displeasure to announce more injuries.  I know we have seen injuries in the past.  No team is going through an entire fantasy football season without experiencing some adversity.  This season, however, is one for the ages as far as injuries are concerned.  Week 9 saw Jayden Daniels go down with a nasty looking elbow dislocation.  He could be done for the season.  Recall draft season, and you will remember Daniels going as a top five QB.  My Packers appear to have lost Tucker Kraft, current overall TE2 on the season, to a season-ending ACL injury.  Old man Aaron Jones also has an AC joint injury.  Also, keep an eye on Rico Dowdle and his groin/quad/upper leg injury.  Though he finished the game, and beat my Packers, he reached for the injured area multiple times in the second half.  And, though I do not think the injury is serious, Brian Thomas Jr. left the afternoon game with a leg injury.  Watch his practice status before starting him this week.  We must hope this injury does not linger.

At this point we are all in hope mode.  We hope none of our players hit the late week injury report like Rhamondre Stevenson and D’Andre Swift in Week 9.  The key is to hope for a healthy squad.  The plan is to insulate your team against the bye weeks and injuries if your bench is deep enough to allow for it.  The other thing to do is work your waiver wire, but you knew that if you are reading this article.  For more news, please remember there are four teams on bye in Week 10: Bengals, Chiefs, Cowboys, and Titans.

WAIVERS:

ADD OF THE WEEK = Parker Washington – 18% rostered tops our list for a few reasons.  First, he was WR3 for this offense prior to Week 9.  Second, he would sprinkle in decent target numbers from week to week.  Third, he played a solid role last season so is used to this role today.  Fourth, Travis Hunter to IR.  Fifth, no viable TE option.  Sixth, see above noted Brian Thomas Jr. injury.  Washington should be added in all formats, especially PPR.

QB: Even though he is on bye this week, if Uncle Joe Flacco is still available, he must be rostered.  Additional bargain big QBs to consider adding are Marcus Mariota and Jacoby Brissett (he has been better than Kyler Murray through three starts).

RB: Trey Benson – 59% rostered is about to come off the waiver wire and almost all fantasy teams need help at RB.  Add Benson as depth and you just might find yourself starting him often.  I think we have determined the Michael Carter, Emari Demercado, Bam Knight experiment is not working.

Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:

Terrell Jennings – 1% rostered came from nowhere (practice squad) and vultured a touchdown from draft season darling TreVeyon Henderson in the Patriots victory.  Henderson did out-touch Jennings 18 to 12 so pump the brakes a little on firing up Jennings as your RB savior.  If Rhamondre Stevenson misses a second week, Jennings is a decent enough FLEX option at Tampa Bay.

Kareem Hunt – 70% rostered doubled his roster percentage in Week 9.  It is never pretty with the aging RB and the Chiefs are off in Week 10.  If someone drops him, you may be able to scoop him up for free for Week 11+.

Dylan Sampson – 13% / Jerome Ford – 14% rostered.  This backfield will be the same mess it was prior to Quinshon Judkins becoming the lead dog.  If I had to add one of the two while Judkins is down, it is Sampson well over Ford.

Tank Bigsby – 17% rostered is the name if you roster Saquon Barkley.  Early news out of Philly is Barkley will be ready after the Eagles Week 9 bye week.  You may want to roster Bigsby as a handcuff just in case.

Troy Franklin – WR – 48% rostered made a name for himself in Week 8 with 6-89-2.  He appears to be the clear WR2, and possibly the second option overall in the passing game (over Evan Engram 2-0-0-0 in Week 9) for the Broncos.  Franklin just came off a tough matchup with the Texans defense where he saw 10 targets.  Look for better numbers moving forward with Las Vegas the opponent this week.

Honorable Mention/Cheaper Options:

Alec Pierce – 26% rostered just went 13-6-115-0 at Pittsburgh.  I think he is the better WR over Josh Downs.  Other than the TD to Downs, my opinion appears to be correct.  Based on current stats, the Week 10 matchup against the Falcons is tough but the Colts want to get back in the win column and Daniel Jones needs to get his confidence back up after a rough Week 9 outing.

Malik Washington – 15% rostered is getting enough looks from Tua to make him viable as a FLEX option with the right matchup.  He is not Tyreek 2.0, but does offer value especially with four teams on bye

Tez Johnson – 17% rostered was on bye in Week 9 but appears to have a solid connection with Baker Mayfield.  Watch your wire as someone may have dropped him and you can scoop him up for free during this week’s waivers.

Christian Watson – 28% rostered is clearly the downfield option for Jordan Love and the Packers.  With no Jayden Reed and the injury to Tucker Kraft, look for Green Bay to mix in more Watson on Monday Night Football.

TE: Luke Musgrave – 0% rostered.  This pains me to type, but here we are.  Musgrave was a solid, if unspectacular starting TE for Green Bay prior to getting dinged last season.  That is where Tucker Kraft stepped in to own the position for the Packers.  The Green Bay offense will lean on the position without a true WR1.  On Monday Night Football, the Packers welcome the Super Bowl champs to town.  The home team will need to throw to win this game.  Look for Musgrave to get looks and have a chance to put up solid fantasy stats.

As mentioned above, it has only been two weeks, so if you lost, got smashed even, relax.  It will be OK.  There is no need to rush to drop any specific player, unless you see the name in the opening paragraph.

    1 PPR Super Flex 5-4

    QB: Maye, Dart
    RB: Henry, Saquon
    WR: London, Marvin, D Smith
    TE: Tucker Kraft (Sad)
    Flex: J Addison

    Bench:
    J Fields
    Etienne, Bigsby, E Wilson
    Deebo, Parker

Finally started winning and took the worst hit with Tucker Kraft. $73 FAAB

    Waivers:
    D Mills — D Douglas, J Bech, Zaccheaus

    T Jennings, J Patterson, B Corum, Demercado

Njoku, Musgrave, H Henry, Theo , Schultz, Hockenson

    1) Which TE should I target from waivers dropping Kraft and how much FAAB to spend?

    2) Suggest adding anyone else dropping E Wilson ?

    3) Is it worth trading 15-20 FAAB to get Jake Ferguson? Trying for Gadsden, Fannin bit not positive about that,

    4) Offer 10 FAAB for Loveland?

    • Matt Stiles says:
      (link)

I would offer FAAB for Ferguson or Gadsden. Remember each has their bye coming up so you will need to stream a TE minimum one more week. I like Henry and Njoku if he gets moved. Hockenson is past his bye and could be best add for you spending least amount of FAAB. I like Pop Douglas over Wilson.

      • Achilles says:
        (link)

Njoku didn’t get moved. Prefer Henry, Njoku over Musgrave , Theo, Schultz , Hockenson? Nobody needs a TE this week except Kelce owner and expect at lleast 3 of them to remain in waivers.

How much would you offer for Ferguson?

Already have 6 WRs and might never start Pop Douglas.

        • Matt Stiles says:
          (link)

Put $0 claim in for Hockenson. If you don’t land him grab Henry. No need to pay up for bye week Ferguson.

          • Achilles says:
            (link)

Unable to get Gadsden, Loveland, or Ferguson. I will pick someone to stream this week.

Offered Parker + $10 FAAB for Fannin Jr and waiting to see if he accepts.

Someone offered Andrews for $15 and declined it.

                • Achilles says:
                  (link)

He declined and offered Addison for Fannin. No clue.

                  • Achilles says:
                    (link)

Would you take Andrews for $6-$8 FAAB and start him over Hock, Henry, Theo, Njoku, Schultz, Musgrave etc?

                    • Achilles says:
                      (link)

Andrews is avaialble for $5 FAAB.

                    • Matt Stiles says:
                      (link)

I like Andrews for that low FAAB amount. Ask yourself, ‘is there another free agent I can acquire for $5 that fills a need and that is better than Andrews?” If not, then make the move.

    10 Team 1 PPR 6-3

    QB: Herbert
    RB: Henry, Cook

    TE: Gadsden
    Flex: Goedert
    Flex: Parker

    Bench:
    Rice (bye), Higgins (bye)
Pollard, Bam Knight, Hunt (bye), I Davis

Stashed Davis for 2 weeks and no Breece trade.

    Waivers: $19 FAAB

    Flacco, McCarthy
    Loveland, Andrews, Musgrave
Pierce, Pop Douglas, Horton, Slayton, Zaccheaus
    T Jennings

Who shall I drop and who to add here? Thank you.

    • Matt Stiles says:
      (link)

I like Flacco for his fantasy playoff run maybe dropping I Davis.

      • Achilles says:
        (link)

Dropped Bam and I Davis for Pierce and Flacco for $5 each. Might need to add Ray Davis / Ty Davis dropping Pierce

        • Matt Stiles says:
          (link)

Do not pay too much attention to Wednesday practice reports. The important day is Friday. No need to rush out and pick up BUF RB.

  3. Terrible Towels says:
    (link)

14 teamer .5 PPR …. I’m 4-5 … lost by .2 in week 8 ughh … lost Jayden this week … I have Brissett…. Was offered Flacco and Strange for Laporta … Theo is my other TE… yes ? No way? Appreciate the help always !!!

    • Matt Stiles says:
      (link)

I see no value in adding Strange. I’m holding LaPorta though I like the idea of adding Flacco. Theo is a decent stream/start at TE. Musgrave might be a speculative add.

  4. OJs Bronco says:
    (link)

Howdy Stiles & it’s another waiver week

I got the W & now at 8-1 on the season in my full ppr (10 tm lg)

For waivers this week would you do any of these?

So I added Trey benson two weeks ago & put him on my IR, by adding him to IR it freed up a bench slot two weeks ago so I added Christian Watson

I’ll have to keep in mind benson will be activated at so I’ll need to drop a player; my drop looks to be golden

Drop Andrews (I started him last sec over Pitts week 9 that worked out) or Pitts to add Luke musgrave who could be love’s favorite target down the stretch or Kincaid or hold Andrews /pitts

I added lions d last week, hold or drop for ravens d?

    Look @ Baltimore d schedule

    @ Minnesota

    @ Cleveland

    Vs jets

    Vs bengals

    Vs Steelers

    @ cincy

    Vs pats

Lions have been a solid d

    Their opponents:
    @ Washington
    @ Philly
    vs giants
    Vs packers
    Vs cowboys
    @ rams
    vs Steelers

Lastly what do I do w/ my metcalf hold or sell? If sell would you for any of these: Sutton, zay flowers, or Romeo doubs, or worthy?

My RBs are Bijan, jeanty , j cook, KW3, charb, allgier , javonte and Benson stashed on IR

My WRs are Justin Jefferson, London , Pickens , metcalf , c Watson, golden

We start 2 rb, 3 WR. And one flex crazy bonuses; 100 yard game (receiving & rushing ), in addition to 200+ yd game . 40+ yd td bonus. QB bonus at 300 yard game . And 400+

    Thanks man! Surfs up

    • Matt Stiles says:
      (link)

Hold Andrews/Pitts. No need to press a move at TE.

      Hold Detroit DST.

I would probably dump DK if you can get something of value in return. He simply does not get the targets from Rodgers.

If Doubs/Worthy are the trade targets, I would want more than them for DK.

      • OJs Bronco says:
        (link)

I agree, it’s frustrating how he doesn’t get the targets from AR but in years past he would pepper his WR1.

Would about for Higgins as that manager needs WR this week of course because of the cincy bye or Sutton who has a sexy schedule down the stretch

        Sutton
        Vs raiders
        Vs chiefs (shootout ?)
        Bye
        @ Washington
        @ Vegas
        Vs packers
        Vs jags

        Higgins
        Bye
        @ Pitt
        Vs pats
        @ Baltimore
        @ buff
        Vs ravens
        @ Miami

Actually that’s a great schedule for Higgins too , if I can’t get Higgins would Sutton would be fine to get?

        Thanks again

        • Matt Stiles says:
          (link)

I view Higgins as a WR1 on almost any other team and borderline fantasy WR1 and I love Sutton. I would start asking for Higgins and take Sutton as the second option. Sutton has only had two low production games this season. He is a WR1.

      • OJs Bronco says:
        (link)

Also the trade targets for DK aren’t just Doubs / worthy

Its zay flowers, Sutton & Higgins too

        Gracias

        • Matt Stiles says:
          (link)

I mean dealing DK would need to come back with more than Doubs/Worthy alone. I would want more in return.

  5. sportivetricks says:
    (link)

Matttttty!!!! Love your column and read it every week, but I think this is the first time I’ve commented this season. THANK YOU for your wonderful work.

Would you drop Spears for Benson?

Also, my admittedly weak WR corps is B. Thomas, C. Olave, Q. Johnston, and J. Addison. Would you drop any of them for Parker Washington?

    THANKS!!!

    • sportivetricks says:
      (link)

      Oh, and 10 team PPR.

    • Matt Stiles says:
      (link)

Appreciate the kind words! Welcome to the party.

I love Spears. I like Benson. I probably hold Spears.

I like Parker Washington and think T Lawrence loves Parker Washington. I’m not sure I would drop any of those WRs to add him.

      • sportivetricks says:
        (link)

You, sir, are the man. Thank you!!!!

(I am going to keep Spears, but I do especially like Benson with an effective game-manager now at QB)

        • Matt Stiles says:
          (link)

I like the plan. Brissett has looked much better than Kyler and the Cardinals appear to want to continue to run the ball. I repeat….i like the plan.

  6. Oliver I Scott says:
    (link)

Joining those who lost Kraft. 😞

Should I grab Likely or Musgrave off waivers?

    Thanks in advance.

    • Oliver I Scott says:
      (link)

      1/2 PPR, BTW

    • Matt Stiles says:
      (link)

      I lean Musgrave over Likely.

      • Oliver I Scott says:
        (link)

        Awesome. Thanks for the advice!

        • Matt Stiles says:
          (link)

          Good luck.

  7. Achilles says:
    (link)

Offered Andrews for $5. Should I take and start this week? Or

Add one from Theo, Henry, Hock, Schultz, Njoku, and Musgrave and start instead.

    • Matt Stiles says:
      (link)

Take Andrews for $5 and start him moving forward. I just added him for free in a home league dropping Henry.

      • Achilles says:
        (link)

Thank you. Traded $5 to get Andrews. Also, picked up Hockenson for $1. Theo, Henry, Musgrave were scooped by others. Both Schultz and Njoku are in waivers.

Would you offer Andrews + Parker + Deebo for McBride?

Or Marvin + Deebo + Parker for ARSB?

My RBs: Saquon, Henry, Etienne, Bigsby

WRs: Drake, Marvin, D Smith, Addison, Deebo, Parker

        TE: Andrews , Hockenson

        • Matt Stiles says:
          (link)

Yes to both trade offers though I doubt the other managers will accept.

  8. Achilles says:
    (link)

Would you trade Egbuka to get Marvin + 18 FAAB? Thanks

    • Matt Stiles says:
      (link)

      No.

  9. William Trill Cauley-Stein says:
    (link)

I hope you are doing well. Can you please help me with my line up for week 10? I would really appreciate. I am in a 0.5 PPR league with ten teams. I’m trying to figure out if I should make any lineup changes based on who is on my bench. Thank you!

QB- D. Maye or C. Williams?
    WR- D. London
    WR-J. Waddle
    RB- D. Henry
RB- D. Swift or K. Monangai or R. White?
    TE- O. Gadsden
    F- D. Swift? J. Waddle? K. Boutte? K. Monangai or R. White?
    K- W. Reichard
    D- Cleveland

    Bench: D. Swift, J. Waddle, D. Henry, K. Boutte, O. Gadsden, R. White, T. Tracy, T. Higgins, R. White.

Would you drop anyone for Musgrave or Loveland?

    Thank you!

    • Matt Stiles says:
      (link)

Both QBs have excellent matchups. I lean Caleb as the home QB against a bad NYG pass defense.

RB start is Swift if he plays. Monangai goes back to your bench if Swift is active.

FLEX is Rachaad if Bucky sits. Waddle is Bucky is back.

No need to to reach for Musgrave or Loveland.

      • William Trill Cauley-Stein says:
        (link)

Thank you! Thoughts on the World Series?!

        • Matt Stiles says:
          (link)

          • William Trill Cauley-Stein says:
            (link)

My Braves were out of it long before the fall classic. M’s had a great season.

  10. Achilles says:
    (link)

TEs are Andrews and Hockenson. Suggest keeping Hock or drop him for Njoku or Schultz ? Thank you.

Other options to pick are are R Davis, Ty Johnson, Corum, T Jennings.

    • Matt Stiles says:
      (link)

      I’m holding Andrews and Hockenson.

      • Achilles says:
        (link)

Fannin Jr is questionable with a hammy injury and hence the debate the add Njoku dropping Hock.

        • Matt Stiles says:
          (link)

Questionable for this week. Play the long game!

  11. Achilles says:
    (link)

    QB: Herbert
    RB: Cook, Henry
    WR: JJ, Egbuka, J Jennings
    TE: Gadsden
    Flex: Goedert
    Flex: A Pierce

    Bench:
    Flacco
    Hunt, Pollard
    Rice, Higgins, Parker

Picked up Pierce & Flacco this week for $5 each. Someone dropped Chuba into waivers. Would you drop Pierce to add him? Thank you.

    • Matt Stiles says:
      (link)

The only reason to add China is if Dowdle is out.
