What I Learned During the 2026 Razzball Supporters Draft

Last night, Razzball hosted our first of four supporter leagues.  I am the commissioner for the league – Razzball Supporters League 2.  Yes, League 2 drafted before League 1.  Though this triggered my OCD a little, it was when we could get the 12 participants aligned for a live draft.  The draft was hosted by me and @Derek_Favret and our partner @Jefferson__21 attended as a team manager.  The remaining nine participants were return managers from our 2025 single QB, PPR league.  If you want to check out the draft, here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/live/J5Xhdvk54BM?feature=share

Now, let’s get down to business.  Let’s talk about how the 1.01 killed the first 5-7 rounds of this draft while I felt like I was on tilt from the start out of the 1.11.  My guy Wes @Loafinit kicked off the draft with Jahmyr Gibbs at 1.01.  Easy enough, chalky, right?  Well, what he did next was the stuff of drafting legends as he selected Chris Olave, Nico Collins, Davante Adams, and Terry McLaurin which feels to me like an almost perfect start.  Wes added DK Metcalf and Rico Dowdle at the 6-7 turn.  He continued to load up on skill players to include Dallas Goedert at TE (10.12) and Tyler Shough at QB (13.01).  Color my envious of his start and overall roster construction.

On the other hand, I did not leave last night ecstatic about my draft.  I was half hosting and half drafting (buckle up for excuses) and failed to notice the 1.12 had started RB RB, so when I selected Josh Jacobs (too early) at 3.11, I left both Emeka Egbuka and Zay Flowers for @Curly8812 to scoop up.  I was the first to select a QB, Josh Allen (4.02) and I hate that pick considering the next QB (Lamar Jackson) was drafted 13 picks later.  It was an off night for me. Alas, I will be fine and the supporters all had a good time and have vowed to run it back in 2027.

QB – This appears to be the deepest the position has been since I started playing fantasy football in 1990 (insert old man joke here).  For discussion sake, the Razzball Supporters League 2 is a single QB (non-SuperFlex league), so the position should get pushed down regardless.  I made the mistake of passing on skill players by drafting Josh Allen.  Truth be told, I did not love the names available, and the Allen pick felt like a rage pick.  Consider that this 14-round draft, once complete, saw Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Malik Willis, Daniel Jones, C.J. Stroud, and others available at the position.  Truth be told, there should be additional names had it not been for seven teams that drafted two QBs.  Lesson learned is the lesson I knew and ignored.  The position is super deep especially in single QB leagues.  Wait on QB!

RB – Position appeared deep when the draft started but felt like it quickly dried up.  There were sixteen RBs taken in the first three rounds leaving names like Kyren Williams, D’Andre Swift, Bucky Irving, Travis Etienne, Quinshon Judkins, Bhayshul Tuten and the New England Patriots/Denver Broncos muddy backfields as best remaining options.  Can you win with those middling RBs?  Sure, you can, if things break right.  I learned you may want to get your top RB early while strategically grabbing players in good situations to round out your squad.  I took RB in rounds 2 & 3 nabbing Omarion Hampton (2.02) and Josh Jacobs (3.11), and then ignored the position until round 11 & 14 (Dylan Sampson, Alvin Kamara).

WR – I did not learn much considering I focus my analysis and writing on WRs all season.  What I thought would happen, did, in fact, happen.  The sweet spot for WRs is clearly Round 5.  I confirmed my previous thoughts based on prior drafts that my Round 5 analysis holds true in every league to date.  WR names available in Round 5 include Jameson Williams, Rome Odunze, Terry McLaurin, Christian Watson, DJ Moore, and Parker Washington.  If you wait on WR, at least WR2-3, these are all names that will help your squad feel full.

TE – Trey McBride (2.10), Colston Loveland (3.02), and Brock Bowers (3.05) each went early.  Yawn.  Colston Loveland is going too high in my humble opinion considering Tyler Warren went 2+ rounds later followed by Sam LaPorta, Tucker Kraft, and George Kittle all in Round 6.  The name that slipped, surprising me, was Kyle Pitts at 8.03.  That is ridiculous value in my opinion, and I will probably wait on TE in upcoming drafts while I target Kyle Pitts in Round 7.
