Dynasty Trade Chart: Stefon Diggs Fallout

This offseason might be one of the craziest ones I can remember with all of the moves that have happened so far. Even after the initial free agency moves calmed down, we still have trades happening that are causing chaos in the fantasy football world. I am, of course, talking about the Stefon Diggs trade to the Houston Texans. This has caused quite the influx in the two teams involved in the trade, as well as the Razzball Dynasty Trade Chart, so let’s take a look at what has changed over the last week.

New Diggs in Houston

Houston traded with the Buffalo Bills for Stefon Diggs this last week. The news of it rocked the football world, including the fantasy football community. The fallout of Diggs going to Houston is huge, to say the least, in many faucets. Let’s start with the Houston Texans side of things, as that is where Diggs is now.

Moving from the top down is the impact on CJ Stroud, who took a significant jump up on the Trade Chart and is now sitting at QB7 at a total value of 79. If you can find a trade that will equate that and the other, you make that trade 100 out of 100 times. Stroud is going to continue to be a force to be reckoned with and now, with the addition of Diggs, I am expecting him to take another step forward this year and avoid the “Sophomore Slump.”

Staying with the Texans side of things but looking at another position is the receivers who were greatly impacted by the trade. Tank Dell is still the receiver to have there, ranked at 45 total value points. Still, there is the injury that needs to be acknowledged. Dell is the guy I want in the long term, but for this next year, there is a reason the Texans traded for Diggs, which is why he is ranked the next highest at 42 value points. Finally, there is Nico Collins, who finds himself at the bottom of those three with a total value of 41 points.

While Tank should be the long-term answer, Diggs and Collins are sitting on one-year contracts. One of those two, at least, won’t be there the following year and my money is on Collins being the one who walks first, which is why he is ranked last out of the three. Diggs is who you want now and, my money is on this, he will be a key contributor for the team for the rest of his career.

Who is Left in Buffalo?

While everyone in Houston took a drop down in value except for CJ Stroud, it had the opposite effect on the landscape in Buffalo. Now, this is with me fully expecting them to bring in another receiver either through another trade, free agency, or the draft, but I am actually kind of excited for the receivers on the Buffalo Bills. Khalil Shakir got a small bump to his value and is back in the 20’s of total value points. While it is fun to have Shakir as a top pick for people, he didn’t do enough last year to convince me that he will be a big piece of the offense moving forward. Plus, the addition of the next player I’m going to mention makes me feel as though the team is concerned with Shakir’s play enough to bring in an insurance policy.

Curtis Samuel got a sizeable bump because I feel as though he is the one who benefited the most with Diggs leaving. Samuel has been someone that people have been waiting to have another big year since his 2020 campaign offered some hope. I was already excited when I realized that Samuel would be joining Joe Brady again, who was with him last during that 2020 campaign. I was already excited about him having a more competent quarterback with Josh Allen. Now, with no one else between him and targets, my pants might fly off with how excited I’m getting about Curtis Samuel. There’s still a lot of question marks there that require us to tamper our expectations, but I am more than happy to be an early 2^nd, late 1^st to acquire Samuel.

Finally, there is Josh Allen. There has been a lot of consternation about fading him given the fact that he lost his top receiver. However, even in the final weeks of the season last year when Diggs wasn’t being used and only averaged around nine points per game, Josh Allen was still securing an impressive 23.9 PPG. If you have the Josh Allen owner in your league and they are concerned, I would be sending over something to see if I can make a trade happen. He still leads the Dynasty Trade Chart and is sitting at a total of 100 value points.
