Below you will see the matchup rank for each player. The matchup rank represents the rank of the defense based on our adjusted line yards metric.

Top Running Back Starts

  • Player: Najee Harris
  • Opponent: Arizona Cardinals
  • Matchup Rank: 2nd

Just when the world finally got word that Jaylen Warren will be the RB1 in Pittsburgh, Najee Harris broke out for his best game of the season. In Week 12, Harris rushed for a season-high 99 yards and found the end zone vs. a tough Bengals DST. This week, Harris will look to build off that strong game as he faces a Cardinals DST that allowed over 230 rushing yards to the Rams running backs last week.

  • Player: Devin Singletary
  • Opponent: Denver Broncos
  • Matchup Rank: 1st

In Dameon Pierce’s first game back, Devin Singletary immediately went back into a timeshare only seeing one more carry (6-5). Where Singletary made his mark was in the passing game, catching 6-54 savings fantasy day in PPR. A lot of this had to do with game flow, but this week the Texans will have to do a lot of their damage on the ground vs. a vulnerable Broncos run D. This improved run game matchup along with his usage in the pass game, makes Singletary a solid RB2.

  • Player: Rhamondre Stevenson
  • Opponent: Los Angeles Chargers
  • Matchup Rank: 11th

Well, better late than never, Rhamondre Stevenson. Talk about bell cow status. I guess Stevenson was dealing with injuries for most of the year because the Patriots have leaned into their top back, and he has delivered. After failing to hit 20 carries in any game Weeks 1-9, Stevenson has seen 20+ in two straight. This season, only five running backs have hit 15 carries in a game vs. the Chargers. Four of those five had at least 17 PPR points. #Ridethehothand

Top Running Back Sits

  • Player: Austin Ekeler
  • Opponent: New England Patriots
  • Matchup Rank: 21st

Maybe it’s the holiday season giving me a sense of security, or maybe it’s insanity, but let’s get bold. Granted, there are probably zero teams out there with the luxury to sit Austin Ekeler since six teams are on bye, but maybe we just fade him in DFS. The Patriots will look to take away your best weapon, and we can argue that will be Keenan Allen, but as we saw last week, the Patriots are more equipped to stop the run. A week after a monster game vs. the Commanders, finishing as the RB1 on the week, Saquon Barkley only mustered 52 total yards vs. New England.

  • Player: Joe Mixon
  • Opponent: Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Matchup Rank: 25th

Joe Mixon is the Wolverine meme where he is lying in bed staring at a photo. That photo is of Joe Burrow. Talk about an abrupt end to the season for a team that could have been a Super Bowl contender. Without Burrow this offense will be tough to watch, and now Mixon will have to play vs. strong Jaguars run D. The only thing that might save his fantasy day is that the Jaguars allow a bunch of passes to running backs. Either way, his touchdown equity has pretty much evaporated, which makes him a low-end RB2 at best this week.

Week 12 Recap

Start Derek Henry vs. the Panthers – The big fella came through with a monster game vs. the Panthers, finishing as the RB10 in PPR. HIT

Start Isiah Pacheco vs. the Raiders – I got to tell you I liked Isiah Pacheco a lot, but damn, two touchdowns and five catches made him the RB4 on the week. HIT

Start Jerome Ford vs. the Broncos – It wasn’t pretty, but Jerome Ford got 79 total yards and secured four receptions, finishing as the RB22 on the week. HIT

Sit Saquon Barkley vs. the Patriots – A week after Saquon embarrassed me with an RB1 finish, I got my revenge as he finished as the RB45.  HIT

Sit Javonte Williams vs. the Browns – This one was a close call, but Javonte Williams barely got over 10 PPR points vs. Cleveland, finishing as the RB29. HIT

Start Kyren Williams vs. the Cardinals – I figured this one was more obvious, so it was only an honorable mention, but hopefully, everyone got Kyren Williams into their DFS lineups. HIT

Score – 6 out of 6
