This week in the 2024 Top 150 PPR Rankings, we discuss everyone’s favorite topic SLEEPERS! Now before you go copying and pasting these takes into your social media accounts, let’s start off by saying this is pre-training camp so all this can change over the next few weeks. However, based on historical coaching and stats, I will be watching these players closely throughout camp.

What goes into my rankings? Every year, I start with a baseline of what happened the prior year. Then, I review key things that might have impacted the player’s production like injuries, bad coaching, or lack of talent around that player. Next, I review what’s changed heading into this season. This includes things like coaching or personnel changes, injuries, and training camp news and notes on how a player has moved up or down the depth chart.

Pre-Training Camp Sleepers!

  • Player: Bills WR Core
  • Team: Buffalo Bills
  • Overall Ranking: Khalil Shakir (101) / Curtis Samuel (105)

We should be open to anything and everything when it comes to the Bills receiving. All three of the top Bills wide receivers have their case to be the #1 wide receiver option. Khalil Shakir is the incumbent who has played well in an expanded role, Curtis Samuel has a history with new OC Joe Brady, and Keon Coleman has the draft capital.

Over the past three seasons, the 2nd and 3rd options averaged around 10 PPR PPG. That production came with Stefon Diggs getting 160 targets per year. Even if Dalton Kincaid is the #1 option this season, the other options will get more looks as he (Kincaid) most likely won’t see the same target volume as Diggs.

  • Player: Patriots Receiving Core
  • Team: New England Patriots
  • Overall Ranking: Hunter Henry (127) / Demario Douglas (143) / Ja’Lynn Polk (148)

Not many people are interested in the Patriots receiving core, but the likelihood of someone emerging is strong. New Patriots OC Alex Van Pelt and Jacoby Brissett are very familiar with each other from their days in Cleveland.

In 2022, Brissett started 11 games for the Browns. That year Amari Cooper finished as the WR10, David Njoku TE10 and Donovan Peoples-Jones was the WR42. No Patriots pass catcher is currently going in the Top 150, so value is there this season.

  • Player: Demarcus Robinson (WR)
  • Team: Los Angeles Rams
  • Overall Ranking: 147 (ADP NR)

After Demarcus Robinson joined the Rams in 2023, he started seeing over 50% of the snaps in Week 12. From Week 12 through the playoffs he averaged 12.8 PPR PPG in the games where Matthew Stafford started. That production would have made Robinson the WR32 last season.

Now heading into 2024, the Rams will be down top Tight End Tyler Higbee which could solidify Robinson as the 3rd option in this offense. This makes him an ideal late round target in 2024.

  • Player: Josh Palmer (WR)
  • Team: Los Angeles Chargers
  • Overall Ranking: 98 (ADP 138)

The losses of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Gerald Everett, and Austin Ekeler have provided a huge opportunity for all the Chargers skill position players in 2024. Josh Palmer has flashed in his expanded role and looks to be locked in to a full time role this season.

In his career without Keenan Allen in the lineup, Palmer has averaged 11.8 PPR PPG. These numbers jump to 14.7 PPR PPG when he plays at least 80% of the snaps. Yes, Ladd McConkey could be the top option, but that doesn’t mean Palmer cant get his this season.

  • Player: Darnell Mooney (WR)
  • Team: Atlanta Falcons
  • Overall Ranking: 138 (ADP 161)

Darnell Mooney signed a sizeable contract in 2024 with the Falcons and looks to be locked in as the WR2 for the Falcons. This is a fantastic spot to be in with new QB Kirk Cousins coming into town.

Since 2015, Kirk Cousins’ WR2 has averaged 12.4 PPR PPG. That production would have been good for the WR35 in 2023. This includes some seasons where those teams featured a Tight End like Kyle Pitts notably T.J. Hockenson/Jordan Reed. Even if Darnell Mooney slips to third in the pecking order his current WR68 ADP is worth a shot.
