There has been a little more football news finding the top of my algorithm lately.  My feed is welcoming the football banter considering that other 162-game sport is nearing its half-way point.  Don’t tell Grey that I am not overly geeked about the middle of baseball season.  Probably more than anything, my lackluster attitude about baseball is the fact all my teams are middle of the pack with crappy pitching meaning I am destined for middle of the pack.  I doubt my arms have what it takes to bring me back to prominence in the second half.  My mind is shifting back to football after (too) many months away.  Did you miss me?  If you are like me, and my guys over at @RazzballNFL (Home – Razzball Fantasy Football), your heartrate started to ramp up with all of the X postings of #SFB15 league invites and our subtle RazzBowl7 post a couple days ago.  You read that right…the big RazzBowl7 announcement is right around the corner.  Stay tuned.

We are also adding a Razzball G-League and a Razzball Listeners League for those folks that are long-time readers and followers that we often see comment on our articles and/or those that pop into our podcasts, especially the Sunday Morning Start-Sit show during the regular season.

I digress.  Today, I am going to plant a few flags for WR that I love that you may not be sold on.  Feel free to provide your guys in the comments.  Also, remember to check in with the @Razzball NFL team of writers as we host our You Tube podcasts where we chat all things off-season fantasy football, fantasy football draft season, and maybe weave in some music and pop culture chatter.  Join Sky @SkyGuasco, The Lineup Builder @Derek_Favret, Jeff @Jefferson__21, Dave @crewser128, Ben @FantasyFirstDwn and me, Matt @stiles08 on out various You Tube pods as we answer your questions thus keeping you informed for the 2025 draft season while looking back at what coulda, shoulda, woulda been in 2024.  Come for the analysis and stay for the laughs!

My Guys – WR

  • Player: Davante Adams
  • Team: Los Angeles Rams
  • Current (early) ADP: WR18, Overall 40

Some will say Davante atop my list is based on my fan-boy love because he played for my Packers coming up in the league.  This could not be more wrong.  Let me give you one thing to consider when looking at this stud WR.  Since 2016, Adams has only finished outside the Top 10 once.  That season he finished WR16 with Jimmy G and Aidan O’Connell throwing him the football.  Let that sink in.  Now, he is in an offense that will probably be playing from behind because their defense is not good AND he has Matthew Stafford throwing him the football.  Adams has not seen a hyper-target-type QB like Stafford during his career.  Sure, he played with prime Aaron Rodgers, but AR12 spread the ball around.  Stafford can (and will) get locked into WRs thus making Adams, the elite route runner with top tier hands, and Puka Nacua as stud WRs.  Nacua would be on my list if not for his current WR6 ADP data.  Grab your elite RB early and watch the top 15 ish WR go while you have your sights set on Davante who will almost certainly end the season in the top 12.

  • Player: Chris Godwin
  • Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Current (early) ADP: WR29, Overall 65

Godwin was having his best season when the injury bug found him during garbage time in Week 7 at which point his season was over.  There was a lot of chatter about where Godwin may land this off-season.  I was confident he would resign with the Bucs.  Seriously, who would not love playing with Baker Mayfield while your paycheck does not see state tax removed?  Looking back to 2024, Godwin was headed for top five WR numbers through seven weeks with a line of 62-50-576-5 while logging a league best zero drops on catchable passes.  I expect Godwin to get off to a slower start in 2025 but once he has confidence in his leg/ankle, he will light up the league again.  Take the discount to the bank!

  • Player: Jerry Jeudy
  • Team: Cleveland Browns
  • Current (early) ADP: WR30, Overall 68

Coming off a career season, I look for Jeudy to get right back after it for a bad NFL team that will be forced into throwing a lot.  Sure, we have no idea which of their nine QBs will throw to him week by week, but trust when I say the play calling will require a ton of passing.  No Nick Chubb to carry the rock 25+ times per game is just another reason I am high on Jeudy (and, spoiler alert, David Njoku, too) for 2025.

  • Player: Khalil Shakir
  • Team: Buffalo Bills
  • Current (early) ADP: WR41, Overall 91

Who else is Josh Allen throwing the ball to?  I ask that with some sarcasm and truth.  Shakir is the clear WR1 in Buffalo, a team that can light up the scoreboard.  Being able to draft a WR1 with Shakir’s skills and recent history as your WR2-3 when he is truly a WR1 makes for a nice addition to any fantasy squad.

  • Player: Michael Pittman Jr
  • Team: Indianapolis Colts
  • Current (early) ADP: WR49, Overall 113

Hear me out.  Pittman had a WR44 finish with 111 targets with what some have labeled a ‘broken back’.  That warrants some discussion, does it not? Since 2021, Pittman has registered 129, 141, 156, and 111 targets yet only eclipsed 100 receptions once (’23).  The key, for me, is who will be under center for the Colts?  Will it be ARich or Danny Dimes?  Either way, the team will probably be trailing leading to passing opportunities.  I am not sold on the Colts but can get behind a WR that appears fully healthy after a rough medical 2024.
