Don't be shellfish...Tweet about this on TwitterShare on FacebookShare on Google+Share on Reddit

Normally I start these buy/sells off with a buy.  I like to get you excited about getting ‘that one guy’ for cheap like I hope I did with Alfred Morris last week.  Then I slowly ease you into what may be a call that you disapprove of or just don’t wanna hear.  But this whole partially torn plantar fascia business is too big to ignore in my book and so I’m here to tell you to push the sell button on Jimmy Graham.  The reason I say sell now can be summed up with a number: 18.  That’s the amount of snaps Graham was in to play on on Sunday.  Want more numbers to back up my stance?  Cool, how about three.  That’s the amount of targets he got in the game.  Brees threw the ball 34 times in week 8.  So Graham was a product of only 8.8% of Brees’ work on Sunday but no one cares because touchdowns.  Specifically two of them.  That saves a 3/37 day every time.  Throw on the fact this game was after a bye week, do you want to hang your hat on that kind of production week in and week out?  Our beloved Tehol mentioned a TE a couple of years ago who struggled through a similar injury.  His name?  Antonio Gates.  Though statistically it wasn’t a bad year for Gates in 2010, he ended up only playing 10 games and bowed out during the time his owners needed him most: the playoffs.  Now I’m not telling you the situation is exactly the same but do you really want to count on Graham to play through it and perform at the level you’re used to?  Do you want to count on the Saints not sitting him at the end of the year if they have their division wrapped up to make sure he’s good to go for the playoffs?  Basically, as a Graham owner you got a Joseph Fauria-type week and it masked a lot of things to be fearful of.  He’s still a top 10 to 15 player so I’m saying you get out while the value is still there.  I’d look to do a 2-2 trade where you take the ‘lesser’ TE and upgrade at another position in this scenario unless you have Reed or a player like him just waiting to take over for him on your team.  Either way, I’d be getting out while the gettin’s good.  In other buy/sell news for 2013 Fantasy Football…

BUY

Zac Stacy – Most of what I need to say I already said about him in my MNF review of my Zac Stacy Fantasy.  Read it like I was bathing in a pool of whip cream with strawberries being rubbed all over my body by beautiful women and you’ll get why I called it my fantasy of him.  Kid’s good.  RB2 good.  If the owner doesn’t trust, take advantage.

Rishard Matthews - Um, who Sky?  Yeah, I would’ve called the podcast with him as a waiver option but was too drunk completely spaced I needed to do so on Sunday night.  Mea culpa.  With Brandon Gibson out for the year, someone needs to fill the role of ‘person who’s not Mike Wallace’ to catch passes in Miami.  Consider him a low upside PPR play for now who may see his role in the offense expand if he does well.

Broncos & Lions – As the great band Living Colour once sang, ‘Everyone loves you when you’re bye’.  I don’t get how the rest of the song ties into appreciating bye weeks but that’s besides the point.  Bye weeks can create funny trades.  This team needs a player this week but has 2 major Broncos and a Lion on their roster.  What to do?  They can’t take the loss, they have to move on.  I can’t make promises that it’ll work but you know how good those offenses have been this year.  This might be your chance to get a small discount on it.

Marques Colston – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I still eat olives directly from the jar and pull them out with my fingers.  I don’t care how unsanitary it is, it’s how I roll!  Oh and I still believe in Colston and given the disgust he’s created amongst his owners, he’ll be going even cheaper now.  With the Graham issues I spoke of, those targets should get spread around and Colston nearly did have a 40 yard TD last week negated by a tremendous defensive play.  I’m simply saying it’s been bad statistically but I believe Marques will have a Marquess end to the year.

Trent Richardson – Let me take this moment to read to you an email from a league mate concerning our friend T-Rich.  Better yet, let’s pretend it’s H. Jon Benjamin.  Let’s begin.  Subject: TRich Must Go – I’m so sick of this giant sucking sore on my roster. Still got hope for him? Send me an offer. Pocket lint, stale Cheetos, whatever you got…it qualifies in my book. Best offer wins the “prize”.  In other words, ‘Free Lottery Ticket’.  I can’t and won’t make any promises with Trent at this point.  The Colts haven’t put him to his best use yet – especially in the passing game – but hopefully he comes out of the bye week strong with a better approach.

LaVon Brazill – Deep league call for a deep threat kinda guy.  Wayne’s down and I fully expect Hilton to take over the reigns as WR1 in Indy.  DHB isn’t much of…well he isn’t much of anything really but he’s also not a field stretcher and Brazill is.  Plus let’s not forget how poor DHB really has been in the passing game so far.  It’s not a far-fetched idea to think Brazill could sneak above him and become a secondary target for Luck if he performs.

Damn say it ain’t so! I was hoping for more Double Tight with Jimmy and JReed!
Do I try to trade for Lynch, AP, Bush or ride it out and hope CJ, Andre Brown, and Vereen pick up the slack in the 2nd half?

Would you drop either for Campbell or McCown to start this week? I’m leaning towards dropping Roethlisberger for Campbell.

I have Cutler stashed on IR so he will be my starting QB when healthy.

    Sky,

Mulling over sending Forte for Welker. One back league and I have Lacy and Pierre as RB2 and 3. I lost Julio and my current choices at WR are Terrance Williams, Boykin and Marvin Jones, so Welker would become my WR1. Did I mention it’s PPR? What think you?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@TJ: I’d think with how his season’s going you could get an AJ Green or Dez type, no? I’m not against it, just think you should get like for like. Not kinda like for like.

      • TJ says:
        (link)

@Sky: Could be that I have too high an opinion of Welker and his situation. I tend to look at WR on-going in relation to their QB. For example, I know the numbers are the numbers but I tend to discount Green somewhat because I don’t trust Dalton. Anyway, in this league I can’t get a Tier 1 and the guy with Welker needs an RB. He might take Lacy, or do you think Lacy and Forte are on par?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

@TJ: You’re buying Welker because he has 9 TDs. You think he’ll get 18 on the year or do you think that’ll fade a bit? Green was fine last year with the same QB so I’m not sure I can agree with your argument. Lacy for Welker is reasonable.

          • TJ says:
            (link)

@Sky: Actually what I’m buying with Welker is the relationship with Manning. They are consummate pros playing at an instinctive level. I agree that the TD rate probably is unsustainable, but he has caught 50 balls and that IS sustainable. And I agree that my bias against Dalton/Green is unreasonable. We’ll write it off to having been married to a redhead for 48 years.

in my 1-7 RCL team (where i’ve lost by less than 6 twice, and .38 once) and have more pts than 1 of the 4-4 teams, last week even with losing the 10.7 pts by throwing tolbert away to play ogre I still would’ve won except for just 1 too many WAS turnovers bringing DEN’s def pts up way too much more than they were in the mid third quarter. just threw away ogre and a.smith (bye week fillers) to grab a LOT of extra RB’s while I wait on somebody/nobody to waiver my dropped martin. now have
    c.johnson/p.thomas/vereen/a.brown/d.brown/ball.
rank ROS d.brown/ball/martin/starks. I’m guessing martin’s too hard to rank due to unknown injury status, so which of the other 3 is worst? If Moreno were to get hurt Ball would become a monster so I grabbed him over starks, and d.brown gets used more so far so I grabbed him over starks as well. I can load up at RB since there literally is nothing good at WR or TE in this league in free agent land.

20 minute update, somebody that works here got my old Martin. So now if he comes back and does great i’ll get to read articles about how some dumbass dropped him and how so and so’s .500 team was pushed to the championship or playoffs, or both from this. great.

@goodfold2: sorry, when I say ROS i don’t mean what likely comes to mind (total pts from this moment forward), what i mean is avg pts per start when healthy from this point on. Without this caveat, a.brown could easily be the worst out of all of these guys, but i’m betting he’s probably the best whenever he gets starts.

@Jagan: Strength of schedule is a pipedream. It pretends injuries don’t happen and that teams don’t adjust or change. You need to play matchups, like we talked about yesterday. You should never be that worried about ROS with a defense unless you’ve picked up a team like KC or maybe even the Panthers early enough to where it didn’t matter for you.

@Sky: Are BAL and TEN close for you, Sky?
Both are on the road and predicted (based on Vegas odds) to yield about the same number of pts (19 and 18, respectively). Both CLE and STL yield about the same number of pts for the season and have a backup QB that might be a bit more turnover prone.

Got this trade offer this morning… Romo/Antonio Brown for Welker/MJD. My gut is saying no, I have Dez, Brown, Jennings, Drew Davis @ WR and Gore, McFad, Woodhead, Ellington & Andre Brown @ RB. I feel this trade doesn’t improve my team much at all. Should I counter with Romo/Tony Gonzales for Welker&Fred Jackson? I have Reed who can slide into my starting TE spot.

    • Cram It says:

@Mdaddy: No it doesn’t improve your team. Why are you trading Romo? Who’s your other QB?

@Cram It: I have Rodgers as my main, so Romo is dispensable. He offered me Romo for Welker straight up which would have been great, but then he renegged with this bogus 2 for 2 deal which doesn’t help me at all.

        • Cram It says:

My RB situation is just shitty. Murray looks to be back which is nice. But then I have Lemar Miller, Helu, and Steven Jackson. I don’t think I can trust Jackson yet. Would you pick up a Metthews type for upside on flex? Start Helu or Miller at RB. I have Bowe chilling on the bench still, but he sucks. I’m holding on to Bowe only for the fact that I have a bench spot open and waiting to see what happens when/if the Cheifs fall behind a bit, like vs the broncos twice, who have given up a lot of yards. Best WR on waivers, Marvin Jones (who will be claimed by not me), Eddy Royal, Tate. Not sure if I can trust any of them at this point. Stills is availabe, could try him out.

Haven’t really reviewed matchups for the week. Fleener is upside, Miller is floor. Two different animals for two different needs

  29. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

I’m in a league where I got autodrafted. No money involved, just a friendly league, so I don’t care THAT much. But I have to pick up an RB and a TE for this week. Here is my team:

    QB: Rivers
    WR: Green
    WR: Hilton
    RB: Rice
    RB: _______
    TE: _______
    W/R/T: T.Williams
    BN: Kaepernick
    BN: Fitz
    BN: Blackmon
    BN: Orange Julius
    BN: Moreno
    BN: Bush

My entire bench is on BYE. Here are my options to pickup:

RB – Tolbert, Powell, Bolden, BJGE, and that’s seriously it for RB.
TE – Rudolph, Miller, Fleener, Chandler
WR – Douglas, Allen, James Jones

Who are you dropping and who are you picking up? I don’t NEED a WR, but would you make a swap for any of those three that are available?

@Sky: @Cram It: It’s a 10 team league with two divisions. I’m in 4th overall and 2nd in my division. I know they aren’t really droppable. I tried to make a trade but haven’t heard from the guy. And Cram, I don’t have 4 TEs. I have one in JT. I need someone for this week and those are the only available guys.

        (link)

@Sky: yeah, I kinda see it that way, too. I was wondering if I was completely nuts to do something like that. I offered up Thomas and Blackmon for Reed and Mathews, but heard nothing. It’s not a SUPER involved league. Mostly old friends from law school that have too much other stuff going on to really care. But I’m too damn competitive to just lose for the sake of losing.

I have Foster, Ben Tate, Murray, J Randle, Stacy as my RB’s. I am gonig to need to start 3 of them this week and obviously am juggling some inury news. I was also hoping to pick up Vereen being that it’s a PPR league as a stash. I would drop a kicker or Defense normally until I know more but I’m maxed on RB’s. Is it safe to drop Randle yet in order to make this stash? I’m 7-1 and thinking ahead for playoffs.

I am looking to trade one of my RBs since I have Charles, Chris.Johnson and F.Jackson and Vereen and can only play 2 plus a flex.
Im talking with an owner who has WRs, V. Jackson, E.Decker and T.Smith. He doesnt want to trade V.Jackson so its looking like either Decker or Smith.

Rank for me who will get most points to least on a per week basis ROS between C.Johnson, F.Jackson, Decker, T.Smith.

And what RB of the group would you trade straight up for which WR?

    • Sky

FJax isn’t a starter if/when Spiller is healthy, CJ has underperformed and Vereen is still hurt…I’m not really seeing a good reason for you to try and make a trade. You have zero depth. You can try FJax but that’s as much as I’d be willing to give up and you’re not getting any of those WRs for him unless the other owner is beyond desperate.

Sky me and fantasy dont get along. Ive emailed you before and you have given me good advice. My record is 3-5 and will be difficult for me to make the playoff so trying to make a big move. However, my league is averse to making moves and no one really knows each other, so not fun. Its a CBS league, 10 team, start 8. Generally I start Rivers, Gio, AP, Dez, B Marsh, Orange Julius and stream K and DEF (right now have Tucker and GB Def). On my bench I have Kaep, Locker (who I picked up recently due to his upcoming scedule), Ellington, Josh Gordon, Jordan Cameron and Percy (I recently dropped Lamar Miller, couldnt handle it anymore). I need help at RB and stacked at WR.

Thinking about moving B Marsh and Gio for Marshon Lynch, or B Marsh for Lacy, or possibly making a move for Frank Gore. Any thoughts on this? Any other moves you would make? I love my team, but at 3-5, would like to make a move to try to get me in the playoffs. Thanks man.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

BMarsh for Lynch should be sufficient. If you’re dropping Miller and need help at RB, wouldn’t trading away Gio when you don’t need to be a bad way to go? BMarsh for Lynch is the only move I’d make. I like Lacy but want known production if I’m trading same.

      • Imran Faridi says:
        (link)

@Sky: thought I would sweeten the deal by throwing in Gio, who has been inconsistent fantasy wise. Guy with marshon has leveon bell and zac stacy at rb and v jax, k allen, bey and thomkins at WR. dont mind throwing in Gio bc then would have AP, Lynch and Ellington as a backup then could pick up an additional rb like andre brown. I’ll try m barsh for lynch straight up and see what he says. thanks bud, appreciate it.

    Stafford
    Marshall, geeen

Are these Rotoworld blurbs enough to induce you to drop Ellington to pick up Tate (PPR)? Or do you want more guarantee for Tate or against Foster before making that move?

Arian Foster (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.
Ben Tate, who’s dealing with four broken ribs, practiced, though his participation level is uncertain. Coach Gary Kubiak said earlier Wednesday that both running backs will be game-time decisions for Sunday Night Football vs. Indy.

Ben Tate (ribs) is practicing Wednesday.
Tate has four cracked ribs. John McClain of the Houston Chronicle believes Tate will be able to play Sunday night. The Texans can wrap his torso up and apply extra padding to the area. It’s fair to wonder how effective Tate will be, though. Arian Foster (hamstring) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Dave: I’ll take a flier on Locker’s upside there. It’s close simply because Big Ben has a known floor.

have you ever tried skittlebrau? the chemical reaction with most beers makes the foam rise up quick. ya gotta watch it. It’s not just for Homer’s dreams anymore.

    • Sky

      Sky says:

@goodfold2: Ha, I haven’t. It sounds nasty. I don’t want to taste the rainbow when I imbibe.

  60. Bryan says:
    (link)

I know Trent is on your buy list, but who do you like going forward between Rice and TRich?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Bryan: Until I see the Colts use T-Rich effectively, I have to say Rice.

  61. Oppo Taco says:
    (link)

Would you trade mike James for Marques Colston? I also just traded Eric decker and jake locker for Philip rivers and Andre Johnson. Both of these trades good for me? I’m light on rb now but my starting backs are off bye and I think I can manage. If not I can always flip a wr for a rb. There’s a high demand for
Wr in our pool. It’s .5 ppr Thanks
    Qb – Brady
    Wr – megatron
    Wr – dez
    Rb – forte
    Rb – bell
    Te – reed
    Flex – Andre Johnson
Bench – rivers, James, rueben randle, Kendall wright

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Oppo Taco: Both seem like good trades to me.

  62. Andy says:
    (link)

    Which side do you like?

McCoy for Chris Johnson and Josh Gordon

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Andy: Without knowing how it affects teams, I always have to say getting the best player is best. McCoy side.

  63. Jagan says:
    (link)

    Sky,
I have so many of my players on bye week and I need to drop one of these.Andy Dalton or Russel Wilson?
    Jagan

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Jagan: Fine with either. Wilson’s upside is limited by team approach, though, so it has to be him.

  64. Viv Savage says:
    (link)

Would you trade Jimmy Graham & Spiller for Matt Forte? I will still have Jordan Cameron to play at TE for me. My only valid RBs besides Spiller are Gio Bernard & Andre Ellington, though I do have Andre Brown & Vereen stashed on the bench. It’s just Spiller’s been killing me & even once healthy I don’t see the timeshare going away. Thoughts? I’m probably ok once those two stashes are healthy, but wanted to bounce this scenario off you.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Viv Savage: Think you should get some kind of flier back in that trade. Graham and Forte are almost on par. Spiller makes it too much in my book.

  65. Zandy says:
    (link)

Any change to your view on jstew now that deangelo is questionable? Would be dropping lance Moore in a std league

    • Cram It says:
      (link)

@Zandy: If Moore is just a bench WR for you, I’d grab Stewart. Can’t have too many RB options.

      • Zandy says:
        (link)

@Cram It: I have Sproles, Stacy, Lamar, Ellington, McGahee, shonn green….. My wrs ate Calvin, Keenan Allen, Hilton, ssmith And sjohnson… Well and Moore

        Does that change your opinion?

        • Cram It says:
          (link)

          @Zandy: Nope.

          • Zandy says:
            (link)

@Cram It: done. Now if only people in my league would make trades…. No joke – 0 trades in the entire 10 team league.

            • Cram It says:
              (link)

@Zandy: Football trades are hard to pull off.

              • Zandy says:
                (link)

@Cram It: prefer Helu to jstew? Just was dropped

  66. exactly says:
    (link)

I have Jordy, Marshall and Garcon at WR…would you try to trade Garcon for Demaryius? I should be able to survive the bye week for DT – starting helu or harvin if he plays, and I prefer DT for ROS…what do you think?

    • Cram It says:
      (link)

@exactly: I think everyone prefers DT to Garcon. That’s a major upgrade for you.

  67. Timmy Riggins says:
    (link)

    whats up, 12 team .5ppr 2rb/3wr/flex (w/r/t). 15 weeks NO PLAYOFFS. 5-1 record

QB: PManning, RWilson (saving him for manning bye)
WR: Dez, DThomas, MWallace, A.Jeffrey, RRandle,
RB: DMartin TRich, SRidley, Bolden , Vereen, donald brown
    TE: Gronk, Bennett

I MUST win week 10 (and of course as many as possible)

    1) would you trade Peyton Manning for Eddie Lacy and roll with Russell Wilson?
    2) also, what do you think about trading DThomas for LBell and KAllen

Which do you prefer and if you can’t make that preferred choice would you still accept the other option? Ie if you prefer 2 and it gets rejected would you still accept #1?

Thanks for your time and insight

    • Cram It says:
      (link)

@Timmy Riggins: I wouldn’t do either of those trades.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      @Timmy Riggins:

      1) I wouldn’t

      2) This one isn’t great but it’s much better than 1

I don’t like 1. Not a huge Wilson fan ROS. Too erratic as his team doesn’t rely on him enough.

  68. Bob2112 says:

Guy with AP is actively looking for an rb and some wr help. Would you make an offer for AP? If so what would it be?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

@Zandy: Your best RB is a high end RB2 in Stacy and you’d have to trade Megatron to get him, which is a huge hit to your WR production. I don’t think you have the team to make a reasonable trade.

      • Zandy says:
        (link)

@Sky: in my shoes would you send Sproles, Ty Hilton and Steve smith for ap? If that we’re to get a deal done…

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

You can try. I’d be surprised if it did, though.

  70. Todd says:
    (link)

Do you trust RG3 going forward? He has a decent matchup with the chargers this week. But I picked up locker just in case. Locker matches up with st.louis, coming off a buy and putting up a few nice starts. Role with my guy RG3 or give locker a shot?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I’m fine with RG3 for right now. I think it was just a bad game. He was fine prior to the Denver game.

  71. Todd says:
    (link)

Also who do you like going forward. F. Jackson, c. Johnson or t. Richardson. I have Jackson and looking to sell high

    • Sky

      Sky says:

      CJ

  72. Would you trade Garcon and Harvin for Welker and Seattle D? I currently stream Ds.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      I wouldn’t

  73. harbinger says:
    (link)

Trade jordan cameron for Leveon? I have gronk, but we can play te in flex for this ppr league. Leveon would be my rb3, but would play the next 2 weeks. Sitting at 7 and 1.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      I’m not a big Bell fan so I wouldn’t

  74. Steve Stevenson says:
    (link)

How do you like Wayne next year? Would you put a claim on him in a dynasty? My WR are Dez, Steve Smith, White, Allen and Boykin.

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Wasn’t really big on him this year so I’m not huge on him. Just getting older and coming off a major injury on a young team.

  75. EC says:
    (link)

Should I trade Brady for Pryor? I have Stafford. I think Pryor is the better play this week but what about rest of season as a backup QB?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      Pryor is fine there.

  76. AJ says:
    (link)

Who would you say is the better pick up, Shane Vereen possibly back week 11 or Andre Brown possibly back week 10?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

      Vereen

      • AJ says:
        (link)

@Sky: Would you drop LeVeon to Stash Vereen?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

THink you could sell him before you had to drop him, no? Maybe a two for one upgrade?

          • AJ says:
            (link)

@Sky: Yea that would be nice ill definitely try, How you feel about Bell/Demaryius for a AJ Green or Arian Foster?

          • AJ says:
            (link)

@Sky: Ehh i actually think thats too much….maybe Blackmon/LeVeon instead

            • Sky

              Sky says:
              (link)

              More reasonable w/Blackmon, yes

  77. harbinger says:
    (link)

Trade Pryor for any of the following rbs ppr? Spiller, Stacy, LBell, Matthews, Ridley? I have cam and could grab dancehall off waivers. Which would be acceptable?

    • harbinger says:
      (link)

      @harbinger: +tannehill

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

I like that: call him Dancehall!

Pryor for Stacy I like a lot but Spiller is a nice gamble as well. Pretty meh on the rest.

      • harbinger says:
        (link)

@Sky: Ryan dancehall it is! Why so low on Leveon? How about Jordan Cameron for Fitzgerald?

        • Sky

          Sky says:
          (link)

Ha, nice. I just haven’t been impressed and I don’t think his offense does him any favors. Big guy who dances a bit too much.

I like Jordan. Fitz is too up and down for me

  78. Steve Stevenson says:
    (link)

Who do you like better for the playoffs: Cutler (v Dal, @ Cle, @Phi) or Locker (@ Den, v Ari, @ Jax)? Looking for Ryan insurance, should be good for a playoff spot regardless. What about next year?

    • Sky

      Sky says:
      (link)

Cutler for both. Not a big Locker believer

  79. Zandy says:
    (link)

Std league send sproles witten Steve smith for lacy and Greg Olsen? Or too much?

    • Zandy says:

      Thomas

  82. Anthony says:

Hey Sky, I lost Blackmon today so I wanted to ask your opinion on who I should grab to replace him. It’s a PPR league and there’s not much out there except……Stills, Lafell, Ginn & Brazill. I like Brazill’s potential but the problem is that I’m probably going to start the guy I pick up as my flex this week and who knows how involved Brazill will be. Who would you grab out of those guys? Thanks brother.

    • Sky

      Stills for upside
